New Study Says That Watching The Kardashians Does Actually Make You A Worse Person

The family everyone loves to hate. With the red hot passion of a thousand burning suns. For some reason. What was that reason again?

Good news to all the die hard Kardashian-haters out there: a new study has recently revealed that watching the hit E! show can actually make you into a worse person.

New research from the London School of Economics found that even just one minute of exposure to materialistic media is enough time to significantly increase anti-welfare sentiment. Shame, shame.

“Humans are inherently materialistic but also very social and communal. The way this is expressed depends on our culture. If there is more emphasis on materialism as a way to be happy, this makes us more inclined to be selfish and anti-social, and therefore unsympathetic to people less fortunate." Study author Dr Rodolfo Leyva of LSE’s Department of Media and Communications said. “This study can contribute to explanations for why the UK public’s support for welfare to aid the impoverished and unemployed has been decreasing.”

During the study 487 adults were shown ads of luxury products, tabloid photos of famous celebrities showing off expensive goods, and newspaper headlines of rags-to-riches stories. Another control group was exposed to neutral images such as the London underground, natural scenery and newspaper headlines about dinosaurs.

Now, I'm not saying I would go so far as to call myself a Kardashian fan, but I will say that I am fascinated by the intensity of rage people's have towards the family, and I cannot say I understand it. The most vocal argument I've heard was that none of them are talented and that they don't actually do anything, to which I'm inclined to respond.... so? It's not like they're getting paid from your tax dollars!

Got a counter argument? I'd love to hear it in the comments.

I don’t think that the Kardashians are bad people. I think the some of the can actually be really sweet sometimes in certain context, but I also think that their show doesn’t exactly do anybody any good.

Well if this study is proven to be true. That would be a damn good reason to get them off the air. Our world in so short on empathy now some people are barley surviving. And our wildlife is not surviving at all. Empathy is a requirement for the survival of society. We need to place shoes on that increase it if that's the way it works!!

Okay no I did not proof read. And yes that is an important step in this life of social media. And no I do not think putting shoes on will increase our empathy. It was just another fun way my auto correct loves to make me look foolish . What I don't understand : if these smart phones are so smart. Why hasn't it already figured out that I do not require help in that area. I've pretty much got that covered already on my own.

One of them has a book titled “Selfish” which is nothing more than a collection of her selfies. The center of the book has naked photos of her.

I dislike them because of their lack of morals.

I just want them to go away!

Morals by your opinion. It's her body and her choice what she does with it. Similarly, it's your right not to buy the book.

You don't have to be a genius to figure this out. As for why they're hated, there are so many reasons. I can't stand people, not just the Kardashians, who get everything handed to them on a silver platter while good, decent people have to work their ass off at two or three jobs just to make ends meet. And what does this family contribute to society other than headlines for tabloids? They can't act, they give their kids stupid names (seriously, the kids are going to need therapy by age 10), and they think the world revolves around them.
