Indian Driver Suspended For Letting Monkey "Drive" Bus (VIDEO)
An Indian bus driver, M. Prakash, has been suspended by his employer after a video of him went viral. His offence? Allowing a passenger's langur monkey to sit on his steering wheel while he drove the bus.
Apparently when the passenger boarded, the monkey didn't feel like sitting with everyone else and insisted on having the best seat on the coach. The driver didn't totally relinquish control - he always kept a hand on the wheel - but the monkey looks like he's doing his best to get everyone where they need to go.
None of the 30 passengers seemed to mind and the cute video found a lot of fans online, but the bus company was less than amused. "Driver M. Prakash, 36, who was at the wheel has been taken off duty for allowing the monkey to sit on the steering and handle it," said a company spokesperson, continuing, "An inquiry is being conducted into the incident. As safety of passengers is paramount, a driver cannot risk the life of passengers by allowing a monkey to sit on the steering and handle it."
Twitter users, as always, had a lot of opinions about the matter...
Animal lover. Should not be suspended. The langur is so cute and polite in this video.— Abhishek Singh (@Abhishekzobb) October 6, 2018

One can only hope and pray that this reckless driver of KSFTC was disciplined and reprimanded for what he is seen doing getting an animal to take charge of his vehicle. He clearly endangered the lives of the passengers forbthis dtupid prank. This is no fun .— Prem Prakash (@pp1931) October 7, 2018
So sweet. Why suspend. He should have been warned to not repeat this.— Parag Hede (@Indepthcomments) October 6, 2018
I would have transferred him from transport department to Animal welfare(or forest) department with a bonus.— AGR (@AgrTweet) October 6, 2018
So what do you think? Innocent and cute or reckless and dangerous?
We just want to know if the monkey ever got his paycheck.
