Are you a man? Is that why this is bad?

No, the fact that her boyfriend is pretty obviously gay (or at least bi, but leaning towards liking men the most) is, to her.

That's a pretty big closet he's hiding in.

Good Lord! I can’t believe that in 2020 people continue to believe that a man wanting to be fucked in the ass is gay.
So once again: homosexuality is being attracted by people of the same sex than you. It has NOTHING to do with your favorite sex position.
And now op, most important question: did you buy one and have tons of fun with your boyfriend?

I think OP's problem is that she was being compared to a man, not that her boyfriend wants to start pegging. Which, if is what he really wants, is a little gay, regardless of him actually being bi/pan/whatever.
Also, I posted my comment in 2018 (what's going on?), as did lj19717, so pointing out it's 2020 is moot.

Are you on glue? Lmfao. A man wanting it in the ass defiantly means he’s gay. I don’t know any straight guy that would want that

I mean, isn't this a win? Sounds like your bf likes men and ladies, and is saying that as his girlfriend, you still manage to sexually satisfy his desires for both.
Of course, tone is a *major* factor here, and a lot of the comments seem to be assuming what I did on first read, that he mean this as a (perhaps ill-thought) compliment.
However, it could also be that you simply took a dominant role in the bedroom, and your boyfriend is kind of an ass and was trying to discourage this by insulting your femininity with what he said. In which case, this relationship has bigger problems that what's going on in the bedroom and you, OP, have my heartfelt sympathy. I hope conversation happens and it gets worked out.

It sounds like he's letting you know that he's either gay or bisexual. I can think of no other reason for him to say that.
