Dead Brothel Owner Wins Nevada Election

Brothel owner Dennis Hof died nearly 3 weeks ago, but that didn't stop him from winning the election for Nevada's 36th Assembly District in the US midterm elections this week.
Yeah, you read that right. He owned brothels. Did you know that prostitution was legal in parts of Nevada? We learn something new every day.
Hof called himself "the Trump of Pahrump" (a town in Nevada) and titled his book "The Art of the Pimp" (spoofing Trump's "The Art of the Deal"). The reality tv star and businessman was fighting for lower taxes and smaller government, which his constituents must have really really liked. It's gotta feel weird voting for a dead guy, but they did it anyway!
"But why?" you maybe asking... Why would people vote for a dead man? Why would the republican party not provide a replacement? Why is this legal? We wondered too, until we found out it's been done before. Apparently it's easier to get folks to vote for a dead guy they like instead of a new guy they don't know, so the party will wait until after the election to introduce their chosen replacement.
It sounds pretty sketchy, but we kind of get it. They probably didn't want to waste whatever campaign money they'd already spend, and waste more creating a brand new campaign right before the election for the new guy. Loyalty is invaluable anyway, and they got to make use of Hof's one last time.
Oh, and in case you're wondering how he died, it happened after a weekend of wild partying to celebrate his 72nd birthday. At least he went out in style!
