Belgium: Bonus of €30,000 Accidentally Given To Employees

Unfortunately for them, they have to give it all back.

For the 230 workers of a steel mill in Charleroi, Belgium, Christmas came early this year. Finally, a special Christmas, then followed by the biggest emotional letdown of their career.

While they expected to receive their usual salary, their bank accounts were credited with an extra 30,000 euros over the weekend. Not a bad way to end the work week, right?

Unfortunately, they were quickly informed that this was all a mistake and that they should return the money as quickly as possible. In actuality, these employees were supposed to receive a bonus of 100 euros each, but a software error caused the accident.

For the most part, none of the employees had touched their temporary bonus except one. According to a colleague, they went to a casino over the weekend. We hope he didn't lose everything in blackjack!

I feel that teachers are way underpaid. I mean WAY underpaid. You are charged with teaching the kids who will take the reins when we are all gone.
