I might receive backlash from this but I feel that you should get your depressive symptoms under control before going to court for your son. ONLY BECAUSE your ex could use your mental health against you and if you were to get reviewed by a psychologist... they would need to state how your mental health is. Now, getting your son back might just be the cure and I hope that happens for you, I just feel that you should take steps towards your mental health before going to court. If you are taking steps and that's what's helped get you to court, I wish you the very best!

As someone with bipolar let me tell you going manic from depression is an oxymoron you're either manic or depressed. They are total opposite on the spectrum.

Another word for manic is “mad” or “crazed.” It’s very possible to be driven “mad” by your depression. It’s to be used as a descriptive word in this context, not using the psychological definition.

Get yourself treated first. Not because the courts will use it against you (which they can’t unless it hinders your ability to parent) but because you want to take care of your kid while in a healthy state of mind.

Also, try to get a good lawyer so you can get justice from that bitter ex. Using a child to hurt someone is an ugly and disgusting thing to do.
