You took this out of that 70's show.
Did you know that things on TV can actually happen in real life?
I know, this is a lot of information for you to take in...but; it can.
OP-- That's...weird. But at least it was just volunteer work. You didn't get paid, so you didn't lose a money source. All you really lost is the feeling of self-accomplishment, I guess? They were really complimenting you. I hate to be one of those whiners complaining...but. This isn't really an FML. At all.
Did you know that people are so desperate that they'll lie to sound important even to complete strangers? I know it's a lot of information for you to take in...but, it can.

YDI for volunteering, I sure as hell will not volunteer. Fuck all the other losers, such as women, homeless, etc. I'm worrying about my own damn self.

i just know im gunna get haters for this, but for at least most of what you said i agree. SURVIVAL BITCH! alhtough i didn't click ydi...
Lol @ Blink182.
Exactly how I feel.
Not only that; this same FML showed up a few days ago. I call BS.
Oh, and I also wasn't aware that I was lying. Things on TV can't happen in real life?
Hmmm. I want to live in your world.
wow...you are one selfish son of a bitch.
OP- I am sorry that happened. but count this as a blessing because they OBVIOUSLY were just jealous that you were such a hardworker and just weren't appreciating what you did.
Wow really? thats pretty stupid of them. FYL
Look, Op is putting spin on this story. She is pissy about being fired from her volunteer job, she is just saying she was such a hard worker, when that probably wasn't why she was fired
That's basically like saying "I got fired for being too awesome" If they weren't paying you anyway where's the FML? You should apply your skills to actually making money.
Surely they'd have just offered you a real job?
#3 has it spot on.
Your life's not fucked. You'll go on to better things.
You stole this from that 70s show. even if you didnt, YDI for volunteering.

how does she deserve it for volunteering.. your dumb.
maybe she was doing it for a good cause and actually wants to make a difference... unlike you
do me a favor and shut up :)
Some people like myself do volunteer work for our college resumes....I dida great job too since I needed to get a nice letter from these people at the end anyways.
F**kin fraud ass FML story.
YDI for volunteering and YDI for doing a good job. I barely do the minimum at my paid job. Everybody knows you get what you pay for. There's no reason to go the extra mile if you're not being paid anyway.
Now that's something to be ashamed to say. Is money everything you care about ? How about volontairing for a cause ? Because you actually want to help ?

I guess you never went to highschool. Volunteering is forced sometimes....15 hours to get into National Honors Society at my highschool...and even more if you want to be "well rounded" and get into a good college when grades are not enough.
Lol, why didn't they just hire you.
Wow. I saw this exact same FML a while back. Way to be creative.
that's south dakota for ya
you got that of of that 70s show ass hoe
i feel ya dog. same thing happened to me but I didn't get fired I just was told to stop doing my job so well
#14 - On 07/05/2009 at 8:25pm by penny69
This is the reason I'd rather avoid a workplace. You get fired if you don't do a good enough job, and then when you exceed expectations you get fired for making everyone look bad. It's the same thing in school, except you're shunned instead of fired. They should have hired you...isn't that what smart workplaces do anyways? "Hey this kid is great, we should have him/her work here! He'/she'd be a valuable part of the team."
People are so stupid...

fake.
you copied this over that 70's show.
dumbass.
that 70's show is awesome
i agree it is awesome.
im thinkin OP was watching it while browsing FMLs and came up with this one
What idiots. You were working hard and for free. They could of easily taken advantage of that... But it's good for you now so you can get a job that pays and benefit from it.
#19 - On 07/05/2009 at 8:44pm by uj
Frankly, this sounds like they just wanted to get rid of you. "You're really so gosh darned good, you make everyone look bad...well, see ya!". You got the brush off!
nobody likes ass kissers and do gooders

Oi... what's with everyone crying "fake" whenever any FML bears any resemblance to a movie or TV show? I don't really care if it's fake or not.
OP - their loss. Better luck with your next volunteer job.
No #24, I'm crying fake because I saw this exact same FML already. Am I the only one that noticed this?!
well then should of ACTUALLY hired you instead of firing you O.o
what a bunch of cunts!!!!! heres what 2do: lay down newspaper, squat above newspaper, shit on newspaper, rub shit on the door handles to the place
well its their loss then!
Heeey, I just said 'No' in the moderating place to an FML like this last night - except it was about the guy losing his REAL job - not a volunteer job. Hmm..
Lol! What a bunch of fuckers, eh? ;)
Wow; #3; I didn't know I was trying to sound important. I was being bitchy. Not trying to make myself sound important. Thanks for letting me know.
So don't make up some bullshit reason to be rude to me. Ohkay? Thanks, dumbass. (:
You sound like a bitch ;)
Yeah, I think I cleared that up when I said I was being bitchy (:
Thanks for pointing it out to me, though. I'm a bitch when people are bitchy to me. Don't be an ass to me, and I won't be one to you (:
obviously fake why would they do that? they wouldnt
off all the fmls moderated this is not most insignificant.. no offense working girl but this is not even close enough to be legit fml..
umm i either call BS or that someone was just stupid in this situation. why fire you, they should hire you as a real staff member...
Just take it in stride and find a new volunteering job.
#2 if this was real it would be a fml. just because you think volunteering is stupid doesn't mean everyone does
This doesn't make any sense. They had you working for free and doing an awesome job. If they were going to fire someone, they would have fired one of the people they PAY who isn't producing. There is just no way this really happened.

Maybe it was some shitty job that only morons would do for a long term living, but this guy decided to do something worthwhile for humanity instead of watching tv while he waits for school to start or something. He's not going to be around long enough for them to fire one of the morons.
yah some places or people are like that! get a real job!
dude, fuck that. people are so lazy sometimes.
you shoulda replaced one of the paid staff.
This was for a government job, right?
I'd assume so. Given that all of the employees had a poor work ethic, they were most likely liberals.
Actually, it was a private republican christian type place. I'm the liberal.
you should have shouted to the guy who fired you "Well maybe the staff should start working harder" and stormed out.
OP if this is accurate I am currently seeking some new blood in Tx
LOL. I actually made it onto FML. So I am the real WorkingGirl on this FML.
Okay so let me clarify some things that people are either stupid or confused about. I voluteered in an organization that has retirement homes all over the country, and helps seniors with limited means. I started volunteering, because it looks good on a resume and I was having a hard time getting a job. So I started volunteering at this retirement home, but I quickly grew to love it, and soon I was working hard because I truely enjoyed visiting with the seniors and delivering mail to them, among the other things I did there. Unknown to me, some of the residents started to complain about how I was nicer and more caring than most of the nurses. They didn't hire me because, I am not a nurse, and I don't have a college degree yet, so there was no position open for me. And the guy who "fired" me let me know why I was being let go, kinda in secret otherwise I doubt I would have been told why they let me go. Oh and I have never seen that 70s show.

Yes, I can hear the elderly now.. "Why can't the staff who administer my meds, clean my soiled bed linens, keep me knee deep in cold creme and adult diapers, etc be as nice as that bubbly gal who delivers the mail and asks me about the pictures of my family". Grow up! This isn't an FML and they were being gracious (and most likely dishonest) by complimenting you when they let you go - take off the rose colored glasses Polyanna!
that happened with my work experience, I got fired from a job I was doing for no money for working too hard, I then nearly got suspended from school, because I was fired.
The fact that people actually know that this is remotely similar to an episode of That 70's show makes me think of how much of a "Winner" they are.
Is it impossible that the same situation might have happened to two people?
I ate a green apple today and anyone else who claaaaims they have is a liar cuz thats what i did. Fuckin reres
I'd love to be able to put that on my resume!
#62 - On 07/06/2009 at 4:01am by the1ultimate
So instead of laying off one of their lousy workers and give you the job, they decided to just fire you?
Wow. They're complete idiots. You don't wanna work for people like that
that sounds exactly like the movie hot fuzz (where the police officer gets sent to the countryside cos he makes every1 look bad cos he's a rly good police officer)
:D I was thinking that too! Love that movie...
But I'm thinking, no. That would be so incredibly stupid on their part, it means you're doing tons of their work and they don't have to pay you. Lies, man.
fuck their life & use this termination to YOUR advantage! If you tell an interviewer that you were let go for working too hard; they will hire you!
#69 - On 07/06/2009 at 1:34pm by Jsgirl
No, they will think she is either boastful, someone they wanted to get rid of without hurting her feelings, or a flat-out liar... and of course there is the possibility that some group of morons (YES YOU ALL KNOW WHO YOU ARE) will think she spends all her time watching "That 70's Show". Didn't that *#&@ drop off the air years ago, get a life people!
you got this from its that 70s show!! be original, don't just add false stories.
lol at #26. daaaaaaaaaamn got #12 the fuck outa here. and yea this is def fake.
...so use them as a reference on your rèsumè.
well then maybe they shouldve made you an actual employee
in fact, if your doing charity/volunteer work then they should apreciate the fact that you take it so seriously and be grateful to have someone like you
so maybe thats not the reason they fired you and if it is then theyre pretty stupid
This happened to me too. I was working Circulation at a public library over the summer to get the community service medal at my high school, and they "fired"me from circ. for doing the employees' jobs. I was relegated to the kids area, hated it, and found another library to work.
They just told you that so you wouldn't feel bad. If you were so good, they would have given you a job.
sucks to be the real staff I guess
that shits whack.
and people, maybe just
because it happened to
be on that 70s show,
doesnt mean it cant
possibly happen in real
life. derrr.
ask for a full time there if you can.
