Not sure where the OP works, but one of my exes worked at Hooters, and got disgusting requests like that a few times a week at the very least. Her first shift someone offered her two hundred dollars to suck her toes. Yeesh.

I used to work at a dollar store, and I can confirm it happens there, although I'm willing to bet it happens at a lot of other places too. For me it was always said by 2 types of people. Sweet old men that were just being silly and making jokes, along the same kind of line as "oh, it doesn't scan, it must be free" jokes. And creepy annoying men that used it as a sort of bad "pick-up line." Worst part is I was young so it was even weirder, and because I'm at work, I couldn't just walk away from the awkwardness, you have to sit there and deal with them while they're making you uncomfortable. I think these people need to understand that suggesting a woman, or anyone, you're attracted to is worth a monetary value, much less one so low, is not a form of flattery.

6 - Well... The very fact that Hooters exists means you should kinda expect that if you work there, no? I don't really think most people go there for a nice family meal.

#17 No matter where you work you shouldn't have to 'expect' to be disrespected or objectified in your place of work. I don't know about you but that's not something I'd appreciate when I was just trying to do my job even if it was at a place like Hooters.

Just being hired at Hooters is pretty much objectifying. And just because you may not appreciate it doesn't mean it shouldn't be expected. "Men are pigs" and all that.

Unfortunately, things like this seem to happen in any line of work that involves interacting with customers, but the dollar store makes the most sense for that particular offer. I had a customer say he'd buy me a Porsche if I married him, another that offered me his comic book collection to be his girlfriend, and one that just thought it was appropriate to fireman carry me out of the store in the middle of my shift.

#17 I can honestly say, having worked at Hooters, that the only thing objectifying about it is idiots like you. getting hired and working there wasn't objectifying, because it takes more than a nice rack to get the job. I've never worked in another restaurant where i was more respected and valued by management and customers alike. and I've never made more money, and I've worked in some snazzy places. Sure, there were a few idiots, but working at Hooters taught me to value more about myself than my packaging and how to stand up for myself, it put me through school, and was overall an amazing opportunity. so next time you want to make a crappy comment about something you don't really understand, don't.

I had comments like this when working in the checkout in a hardware store. It was always the fat gross men that asked if they could take me home with them.
