Today, while on break from work, I went to the cafeteria and bought cheese cubes. One of my coworkers, who is usually very pleasant, asked to try some and I said yes. She ate all the cheddar cubes in the bowl, which are the only ones I like. I wasted $3 for someone else to eat my food. FML

Why would you buy a box of cheese cubes when you don't even like most of it?

Why couldn't you have just said "Sure. Leave me the cheddar ones and take as much of the others as you like."

Should have tell her after the third cube

That's true, but in general I don't think when you give permission for someone to try your food you expect them to take more than one or two pieces. At least, that's how I was taught, so OP probably wasn't thinking that she'd eat so much of it that he needed a disclaimer.

That could have been avoided if you just simply told her which ones you liked?? Your food, your rules.

You should ask her if she can buy you a new bowl sometime, since she ate yours.

If it's "only 3$" then it should be no issue for her to buy a new one.

Unless she stuffed her cheeks like a chipmunk all at once, you could have stopped her...

What is the big deal here? The person is now a better friend. You shared food with them. It was only three bucks. It will lead to good things.

3$ is a lot of money to the people who don't have a lot of them

But if you don't have much, why are you spending that $3 on cheese you don't like?

I'd rather not be friends with someone that rude and inconsiderate

@#14 maybe that poster is French. The French put the dollar sign after, and use commas instead of decimal points. 3,00$ is correct if you're French.

that kinda makes you sound like a push-over op, it's alright for you to say, -sure have some but leave me the cheddar ones, they're my fav too..- :) don't be afraid to say what you want, people can't read your mind, getting frustrated about people not doing what you want if you didn't tell them (nicely) what it is you want, is only harming yourself, OP..

Couldn't agree more. Now there's the possibility of op liking that person less, being rude to her, or lashing out after having bottled up all these feelings for awhile. All of which is unfair to her friend because the friend has no idea she's even done anything wrong. Don't ruin this friendship op because you bottle everything up, never say what you're thinking and/or let people walk on you. People aren't mind readers, you have to tell them what you're thinking. Your friend probably left thinking you guys had a great lunch together.

I don't understand how anyone can see going through and picking out all of one thing without permission to be not rude.

A coworker doesn't automatically equal friend.

If she was just trying some why would she eat so many? That's rude

For all we know, there were only 3 or 4 cheddar ones, and a whole bunch of other flavours. I don't think anyone but op is at fault here.

Yeah, $3 probably only buys about 16 cubes, and if there are 3-4 types (cheddar, pepper jack, American, Swiss being a common combo I see in these mini platters) there's only a few of each.

It doesn't matter how many are there, you ask for what you want to take. Trying out a whole thing isn't the same as I want this specific thing, and taking all of one thing is extremely rude regardless unless you have specific permission to.
