Today, I received a letter telling me I'm not qualified for a job I've been unofficially doing for the last three years. It's the fourth letter I've gotten since applying. I guess it wouldn't be too bad if I didn't have to train the new person who got the job instead of me. FML

Quit unofficially doing the job and say you're not qualified to train the new hire.

Have you considered performing small acts to express your dissatisfaction with the company? I'd recommend starting off by burning the building down and working your way up from there.

Sorry OP. But bright side, you heard back from them.

Just like the three other times OP heard back from them.

Hopefully they can at least give you a letter of reference that attests to you doing the job well and being able to train employees. Good luck on your job hunt.

Get a new job and train the new person incorrectly until you leave

Thinking back on my comment, I realized it sounded like I was saying you are pretty. I didn't mean it like that, no offense but I don't know what you look like. I was calling you a goddess because your response was awesome.

i was going to reply in the same way. if you're not qualified how can you train the new hire??

I like your attitude. I'm in a similar situation at work.

Burning the building will include lawsuits XD

even better, they should steal their bosses' favourite stapler.

Pretty sure if a building were burned to the ground, it wouldn't be escalating. Much moreso the opposite.

I'd say it's safe to say your employer is a dick.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. I've had to train two of my supervisors after applying to both positions and being told I wasn't qualified.

Companies do not like to promote from within. If you want to be paid what youre worrh, you will have to change jobs at least every 2 years

Unfortunately that's true. They'd rather hire from outside than risk moving up a worker that functions well where they are cause they fear disruption. Companies have been working like this for a while now. This is why a LOT of people hate the companies they work for. If you act too nice they take you for granted. Act fickle and they chase you. It's like dating now.

Corporations wonder why employees aren't showing loyalty to them - it might help if corporations started showing loyalty to their employees first. Things like this piss me off.

This surprised me ,but then again, I'm from the DC area where everyone and all their family members, friends, neighbors, and dog walker's second cousin once removed works for the government either directly or indirectly. Promotions are almost always from within. Though on this note, there is no such thing as a raise in the government. just promotions. for those directly working for the government at least...

Train them wrong so you'll be the only one qualified

Clearly the OP is qualified if they are in fact currently, and have been, doing the job. AND have been placed in the role of trainer for the new hire.
