Today, my aunt died. My uncle died just last week and my boss refuses to give me time off for the funeral, saying I can't possibly have so many deaths in the family at once. My uncle died in a car accident, and my aunt only just died from her injuries from the same car accident. FML.

Give him proof from the funeral home if he still doesn't believe you, or show him the obituaries and media article about the accident.

I would just go, and have family call him to explain to him how stupid he's being. Deep condolences to you and your family.

It sucks to work for such an asshole, maybe after you have gone to their services you can move on to a better work environment.

I agree, show proof, have your family call and just take the time. afterwards you can see where you are with him. I mean it's not cool to have a boss be so distrusting over such a situation. condolences

My condolences, first. Second, show him the hospital and funeral home records. Or go above his head to his boss. Mourning family shouldn't depend on his opinion.
