Today, I started my first day working the drive thru at Taco Bell. My very first customer, a lady, ordered nothing but a drink. I was so nervous that I blurted out "Do you want any sauce with that?" Not only did the lady laugh at me, but so did my coworkers. FML

Don't worry, on your first day you're most likely going to screw up a little, you're just learning. When I first started my job, I opened the cash register, which springs out really hard and fast, I was standing too close and it nailed me in the stomach and ribs and I gasped pretty loud, my customer and coworkers laughed at me too. However, I learned where not to stand after that lol, just like you've probably learned what to say now. You'll get better, and probably develop some kind of routine, so it'll get easier, just takes more practice.

Lol by "today" I actually mean a year ago. I just made an FML account and decided to post a few unfortunate moments that have happened to me throughout the years. But yeah, I only lasted a month and a half at Taco Bell. I forgot to hand people their drinks and they would end up driving off without them, I often dropped people's change and credit cards on the ground between the window and their car, and I simply just couldn't keep up with the pace of the drive thru. I did much better when I was the cashier for the dining area. I was 18 and it was my very first job, though. I only stuck around so long because I love their food and since I was an employee, I got everything half off lol. Even my boss told me he didn't see my lasting very long. Fast food is just too fast paced for me. I can't multitask to save my life lol. But now I work at a preschool and the environment is much better

Atleast you didn't ask if she wanted fries

Ah yeah, I just respond as if it's "today" cause it's just easier. Month and a half though, that's not very long, but if you don't like it and had troubles, it makes sense why you'd leave, and it was only your first job anyway. I totally understand not being able to handle the fast pace, I will never work in fast food cause of that, I'd probably be like you, stick around for the food lol. Glad you found a better job for you though.

op i worked there for a year and a half and did it up until the day i quit! its okay. they train you so hard to say it its just a habit

"some new guy asked if I wanted sauce with my drink FML"

Next time ask if they want the special sauce.
