Who am I?

Today, after being with the company for over 3 years, I realised nobody really knows my name. This was after my boss was walking around a new staff member and couldn't introduce me. Neither could my colleague, who's been sitting next to me for the last 6 months. FML

Well it just looks like you need to be more outgoing! Go introduce yourself to people! Make friends!

Don't take it too bad, maybe if you show them that you didn't mind and you throw your name around a little more it'll stick

Or maybe OP just has a difficult name to pronounce?

"Is it Cohen? Koogen?" "For the last time, it's Xöêjúñ! It's so easy!"

No way, if nobody knows your name, they won't send stuff your way and you can sit and comment on FML all day.

Some people are less outgoing than others. I find it very difficult to say Hi to people or start the conversation first.

That's understandable 52, but it just means you can't be upset if no one knows your name or doesn't invite you out or try to make friends with you. People can't not talk to people and then be upset when no one knows them or wants to hang out with them. It might be really hard to do, but it could be in op's best interest to try.

Haha, so true 51. Everyone will just leave op alone as long as op gets her work done.

Yes you do make a valid point but it doesn't seem like the OP is too cut up about it. Surprised maybe, but the wording doesn't convey them to be upset.

Consider it a good thing! Less you have to worry about.

Unless they have to downsize, less memorable people are more likely to get cut.

It's true. If you work for me for three years and I don't know your name or nickname (for those impossible to pronounce ones), you're first on the chopping block when the time comes.

I understand what you guys are saying, but I meant it more as in, the OP has clearly been performing their job duties correctly and hasn't needed corrective actions.not a problem employee

if I don't even know your name, how would I know if you put in the extra effort. also it's always a good idea to have a decent relationship with your boss, without kissing the boss's ass.

It's better to be unnoticed sometimes. It sounds like your coworkers are assholes who haven't tried to get to know you

They're not assholes for not talking to someone who probably has never tried to speak to them...

It's not their job to get to know the op. OP is new. should be introducing themselves.

Op isn't new, they said 3 years of employment

By that same logic, OP is an asshole who hasn't tried to get to know her coworkers.

Nothing wrong with keeping to yourself!

Maybe it's time to do something about that. Start talking to people more. Time to be more entertaining.

1.) Set your ringtone to What's my name by Rihanna. 2.) If you want to change things start slow by having a casual conversation with someone. Begin with the new employee it's a fresh start. It may seem hard, but you can overcome shyness with practice.

Or be like me I enjoy not talking to people. I find most people to be irritating. That doesn't mean that if you try to talk to me I'll ignore you or be rude. I find being alone gives me more time to just think.

Don't say anything! You're in the perfect Office Space set up!

socialize at work! I'm not sure how you couldn't have made friends in 3 years.
