Today, with one week left until I fly to my new apartment, movers loaded my belongings, and happily drove off. They even loaded my unpacked, inflated air mattress. Looks like I'm sleeping on the floor for a week. FML

Today, because of a miscommunication with my boss, the furniture I was renting during my summer job was taken back by the movers. I still have a week of work left and nothing to eat with, and nothing to sit or sleep on. FML

Today, I just got a new assignment for the moving company I work for. Two weeks ago my fiancé dumped me and I moved out of the house. Almost all of the furniture was mine and it took forever. The new moving assignment I have is moving her new boyfriend into my old house. FML

Today, I was informed that my flatmate had not handed his documents in to the new landlord like he'd told me. We are due to move to a new area tomorrow for the new job that I start in 4 days. Now we can't move for another week. Anyone have a spare couch? FML

Today, I finally moved all my boxes into my new apartment. I was settling in when my alarm clock that was stashed in one of the boxes began ringing. Two hours and several boxes later, I still can't find it. FML

Today, I was finally starting to relax after a stressful and expensive move, where I had to give up half my belongings and furniture, as well as my cat. All the stress came rushing back as my new landlord told me that he's selling the building and I've got 30 days to vacate. FML

Today, my roommate was packing up her kitchen stuff as she prepared to move out. Apparently that included the majority of things I bought last week to replace all of her stuff she is taking. FML

Today, all of my roommates handed in their vacating notice unexpectedly. They are all moving to a new house together in two weeks, leaving me to be either homeless or forced to pay 4 times what I was paying in rent. FML

Buy a new one, and if you really can’t afford it, take it back for a refund just before you leave. Or AirBnB?

movers don't just randomly show up. And you or somebody must have let them come in and pack all your stuff. So you deserve this for not scheduling things appropriately and allowing it to happen

i think the OPs problem is the fact they took her air mattress, despite it being unpacked. her problem is definitely not that the movers showed up at all.

If it was already inflated, I would think that it wouldn’t count as carry-on luggage, nor be able to be stored in the baggage area of the plane...

Yeah movers pack up everything as is when they come. Like they even pack garbage cans full of trash. I was lucky that someone told me that before I moved across the country. I’m sorry that happened to you, and I hope you find a more comfy place to sleep before your move!

If a new one isn't in the budget (which must be the case or there's no fml) perhaps it's worth a try to complain to the moving company and see if they might pay for one. Seems like a very stupid mistake on the movers' part. Surely they have seen a million places where the client had an air mattress there for using after the furniture was gone. How could they not understand? It's a common, normal part of moving. Rheir mistake, they should fix it. Unless OP said something like "Pack up literally everything and leave the place empty" and assumed they'd know she meant "...except items A,B, and C" That's a ydi.
