Today, I called a locksmith to unlock my car. He got it unlocked, but broke the handle so the door wouldn’t open. We had to break a window to get in. He still charged me his usual fee. FML

*squint* And you paid it, despite him giving you shitty service and incurring you repair costs because...? He legally can't charge you for a service he didn't provide, and punching out a window isn't even in the same country as lock picking, let alone the same thing. I suggest talking to the business owner- assuming he isn't the business owner- and asking them if that's their usual standard of service. If he is the owner, you could try contesting it in small claims court, or just outright telling him that unless he makes amends, you're going to spread word about what he considers "good service" everywhere you can. The second option could be faster, but is also of dubious legality.

“Today, it was my first day as the cog in a grand money laundering scheme. I was to be paid for ‘fixing’ a broken lock. Not only did the key I was given break the handle, but my fellow stooge was insistent that they actually be able to get into the car. To top it all off, they acted shocked that I would charge so much even though it isn’t their own personal money. Pffft, method actors! FML”

This. Having the audacity to ask for money after caysing extra damage is quite something.

In some vehicles only the front drivers side door has a key hole so that may have been the case

You’re lucky he didn’t add a Window Breakage Fee.

Did he warn you it might break while he's in the process of opening it?

This is why they call it window pain.

charger the company or pay out of pocket

Leave a bad review? Contact the supervisor?

Why did you call a lock smith for a car? They aren't trained to do cars, only houses. Thats what AAA is for.

That apparently varies depending on the locksmith. The one that my mom uses has in big letters: HOUSE • OFFICE • AUTO. He has since the early 2000's, and was used for both the house and getting into the car. The locksmith that responded to OP's request just happened to suck and not understand how payment for a service works.
