How much do you wanna bet the thief WORKS FOR the identity-theft company. That's some impressive advertising!

hahaha now you do not need to worry about your card being stolen anymore LOL

#6 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:21am by morningwoody

Well I hope you called your credit company to cancel the card as soon as you found out. Sometimes if you explain the situation they will even negate the money the thief spent.

What annoys me about Identity theft is that the police do so little about it. When this happened to me a year or so ago we actually found out they had ordered some car parts and where they were being delivered to. Also found they had brought some plane tickets to spain. Called the police and told them that we had the thiefs address and could tell them exactly when they would be at the airport.. they just told me to speak with the bank to claim the money back and said they couldn't do anything else.

#7 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:51am by Jimboom

WOW that's like a swift kick to your soft squishy parts.

#27 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:18pm by LightScout03

Haha. I don't know what's funnier, the fact that they stole your identity to protect their own or the fact that they could get their identity stolen since their purchase will be denied. Hopefully, they'll get what they have coming.

Also, you did call this in right? Credit cards have good fraud protection, so all you need to do is call it in and wait through a bit of red tape to get your credit back. This doesn't exactly rank all that high on the FML scale, even though it is still a bit of a pain.

#9 - On 11/11/2009 at 4:15am by blastvortex

Fake. I heard a comedian tell this joke.

#10 - On 11/11/2009 at 4:18am by FlaminYawn

A lot of comedians tell jokes. Isn't it possible that some can happen to at least one of the 6 billion people on Earth?

how did your card number just get stolen, but not your card?

#14 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:35am by unknown1900

Happens all the time especially if you are doing any sort of online shopping. Then it is best to have a prepaid credit card that way you can still have some protection from it being stolen but they can't get access to other areas of your life.

#28 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:21pm by LightScout03

Damn that sucks ass! My friend got the bank of America cards and it theirs a picture of yourself on there so if it dont match your all good most of the time unless your a shape shifter then your screwed.

You should contact ID Watchdog (www.idwatchdog.com). My credit card number was stolen a few months ago and they fixed everything for me. Now they send me monthly emails alerting me to possible repeat theft if their monitoring scans detect anything. I'd recommend the service to anyone... Either way, good luck! Identity theft can be a real pain in the ass!

LOL, is ndawgg a retard or what? He said a lot of comedians tell jokes. A lot?Really? I'm sure ALL comedians tell jokes. And are you sure 6 billion people have credit cards? You know, since that's what this FML is talking about. The CC is in the OP's name, how do you put ID theft protection on something that's not in your name? Use some common sense people, that's why this is fake.

#30 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:45pm by FlaminYawn

i love the irony in this one.

#31 - On 11/11/2009 at 1:58pm by avfcfan89

@OP: I actually work for a bank (NAB) in their Lost & Stolen cards department.
if you give your bank/card provider a call, definately have the card cancelled and a new one reissued with a different number (as the number is compromised), and then dispute the fraudulent transaction(s).
Oh, and good luck stealing your identity back now, HE HAS PROTECTION!

This is so fake. If a thief stole your identity and bought identity protection that would actually make it easy for them to be found when you reported what happened.

This same exact thing happened to me on Tuesday, the 9th -- I'm almost positive it's the same person!

The thief purchased ID Protect from Intelius.com with my card in my name, so they could monitor any new accounts I opened and continue to try to steal my information. Now, with my credit report, they also have every address I've ever lived it, all of my past phone numbers, and all of my accounts I've ever had open -- the credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax, TransUnion) use that information to be able to verify your identity, so the thief can keep stealing your information. This also means they likely have your social security number, because you need it to buy most id protection services.

If this really happened to you, please contact me at cleverchild@hotmail.com. It's very likely the same person, and we have better chances of catching them together.
