Today, I had one more gift to buy: a copy of Fight Club. I asked a person working at Best Buy if they had any in stock. The man wouldn't sell me the last copy because I had broken the first two rules. FML

I laughed. Hell if this happened to me i would piss myself laughing and high-5 the clerk. Then of course beat the shit out of him if he still refused to sell to me. Or speak to the manager in a calm and civil discussion until both parties come to a positive solution that benefits both of us.

ughmm he was probably quoting the book which is sooooo much better. and fyi #57 fight club changed the world: dolce and gabana started shooting ads in basements; gucci started sewing razor blades into suit coats calling it their "fight club look"; home depot has name template cards with the example of tyler durden whatever the numbers and paper street... there were 4-h clubs that were busted for hosting underground fights. soon there were a million and one **** sites called **** club.. soo dont say that him quoting it means he doesnt have a life, cause he deffinetly does if he said that. i wouldda been like heres my numberr..

Wow 159, you certainly missed the point of Fight Club... Unless you were being ironic in pointing out how corporations tried to get people to buy their products by referencing a film where the protagonist rebels against consumerism. I don't think you were though. Also bearing in mind that quote is in both the film and the book, mentioning that you think it was from the book just shows your ignorance in the matter.

what if the guy behind the counter said this to someone who hadn't seen the movie yet? if they're BUYING it, there's a good chance they haven't seen it and are buying TO see it! which would make it all kind of pointless....

Best bet is to IMDB the movie synopsis, but basically, the main characters of the movie start this underground club, "Fight Club", where they basically just beat the hell out of each other, every night. The club has a few really simple down and dirty rules that come into play throughout the movie. The first one is that you don't talk about Fight Club. Since the movie is kind of a cult favorite, people who are big fans always remind each other of the rule.
