Man or woman?

Today, at 2 in the morning, a noisy work crew started up in the parking lot next to my apartment. What were they doing at that ungodly hour? Installing a light that now shines right into my window. FML

I agree, your life sucks (17125) - you totally deserved it (720)

#1 - On 11/15/2009 at 5:12pm by allmidnighteyes

Does the dood not already have curtains? That would be a fail.

Also: You wouldn't want, a crew of workmen, working outside, your house at 2am, installing a light.

(The use of comma's in the first sentence hurts my eyes. :P)

THAT SUCKS FOR YOU

#12 - On 11/15/2009 at 7:23pm by Ndanick1193

Says you live in Colorado U.S. Get a gun and shoot it.

Call the authorities to put a block to the light falling on your window. You reserve the right to have that done. Sue them if they don't.

sucks to be you D:

#2 - On 11/15/2009 at 5:12pm by CherryKatie

I'm not saying you should consider vandalism but... maybe practise throwing rocks in the general direction of it?

#40 - On 11/16/2009 at 3:06pm by iGreen_Day

time to get curtains!

#3 - On 11/15/2009 at 5:16pm by hXcsoccerplaya

Surprise night light!

#4 - On 11/15/2009 at 5:33pm by FernandoTorres

Complain about it, there are codes against excess light around residential areas. They may be able to turn it at the very least.

#5 - On 11/15/2009 at 5:36pm by ultrazealot

Seems pretty fake to me, doubt anyone would do that kind of work at 2 am. It's probably A) Illegal, and B) what kind of landlord (or whoever had it installed) do that in the middle of the night anyway?

#6 - On 11/15/2009 at 6:16pm by marc_with_a_c

If the parking lot doesnt belong to the apartment buidling and gets busy durring the day they could be trying to get it done while its empty. But still 2 am seems a bit odd.

#7 - On 11/15/2009 at 6:22pm by grrrarrrg2

At my dorm we have construction done starting at 4am. Not all that weird.

#13 - On 11/15/2009 at 7:51pm by catastrophicsock

The city does stupid shit like that. Have you never lived in a city before?

Where I live they redo the same street every single year, they always start it right before winter then leave half the lanes closed off until spring right in front of the local university. City government has a lot of intelligence when it comes to planning anything from my experience.

Um, I swear this is not the comment I was trying to respond to. The comment I was commenting on seems to have disappeared. Does anyone else notice some strange stuff going on right now?

Edit - It is now once again the same comment. But when I posted my first reply and the page refreshed it showed a completely different comment and this thread was gone. This site is having some issues right now.

#23 - On 11/15/2009 at 8:42pm by WTFsGoingOn

big fucking deal.

#8 - On 11/15/2009 at 6:32pm by ha

I know, it really is.

#10 - On 11/15/2009 at 7:13pm by Person1233

So? Invest in some curtains.

#9 - On 11/15/2009 at 6:44pm by ShannaBanana17

#14 - On 11/15/2009 at 7:01pm by fringle

#15 - On 11/15/2009 at 7:02pm by epoxofevo

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me :D

#27 - On 11/15/2009 at 10:06pm by fringle

How horrible! How about shooting out the light?

#16 - On 11/15/2009 at 8:02pm by ragsy

# 13, YDI for living near black people? That has to be one of the most baseless, asinine comments i've read in a while. What does putting a new streetlight have to do with the racial demographic of the area this person is living in? FYL for being an ignorant moron!

#17 - On 11/15/2009 at 8:16pm by neuroticallyours

Dont worry theropod this shitty situation is fixable. Get thick curtains, sue, move your bed to another direction etc etc. The possibilities are limitless.

When i first read this i laughed cause it reminded me of that episode of 'Married with Children'. Al Bundy faced the same exact problem xD

#18 - On 11/15/2009 at 8:19pm by frostie

Blackout curtains are your new best friend.

#24 - On 11/15/2009 at 8:43pm by wut

Black out curtains.

#25 - On 11/15/2009 at 9:03pm by courtyxo

bummerrrr

#26 - On 11/15/2009 at 9:28pm by KiddNYC10

Get some curtains or blinds. Or better yet, complain. They have to listen; otherwise, you should protest the company and get to the higher ups attention. When all else fails, sue them.

#28 - On 11/15/2009 at 10:16pm by untfan2012

well since you were up while he was out there, knock'im off his ladder

#29 - On 11/15/2009 at 10:31pm by rawrgrr911

I agree, that would have been the best solution. Or at least the most entertaining.

#30 - On 11/15/2009 at 10:47pm by WTFsGoingOn

Why in the hell would they put up a light at two in the morning?

#33 - On 11/15/2009 at 11:50pm by jane99

To make sure it works???

#43 - On 11/16/2009 at 8:37pm by theropod

There are laws which prohibit "noise pollution" and "light pollution". Call the police or the EPA about the construction site — I believe the hours for those sorts of things are from 7am to 10pm.

#34 - On 11/16/2009 at 12:27am by lametroll

Yeh but generally the public benefit will override what is normally considered a private nuisance. Might be different in the USA though.

#35 - On 11/16/2009 at 2:36am by purple91

Get your self a flood light...neighbour wars

#36 - On 11/16/2009 at 6:33am by sj

Ouch. Sucks to be you. But I dealt with the same thing, except it was a neighbor who put up these huge Christmas lights, and had Christmas music playing until two in the morning, not the soft kind but rocking around the christmas tree techno rock metal remix. We cut his lights, he called the neighborhood watchdogs and they just told him to have a better holiday spirit. Now how does this help you? It doesn't. But i hope you realize someone understands. You could always smash the light when no one is around with like a bb gun.

Could you, please use, more unnecessary commas?

#39 - On 11/16/2009 at 12:24pm by wienerwagon

it's called fucking blinds smart one

#41 - On 11/16/2009 at 8:09pm by usmc3004

I'm the original writer. And it actually happened about 5-6 years ago (I fudged for the sake of the site's format). Thanks to everyone (with varying degrees of politeness) who suggested opaque curtains, blinds, etc. That is what I ultimately did. I repositioned my bed, and used some nice metal blinds from IKEA.

The personal inconvenience aside, what pissed me off about it was that, as the local planetarium director, I was one of the community's foremost proponents of light-pollution awareness. And I was powerless even to keep my next-door neighbor from lighting themselves up like a prison yard.

Anyway, I left that apartment a long time ago.

#42 - On 11/16/2009 at 8:34pm by theropod

Sounds like someone really wants you to move.

#44 - On 11/16/2009 at 11:22pm by FerrariCake

If that happened to me, the light wouldn't last very long...

#45 - On 11/18/2009 at 12:08pm by Mr_Pooter

This happened to me over the summer. They installed a light that directly shines into our apartment. It was supposed to light up the alleyway from the parking lot into the side door. Unfortunately for us when we walked there at night, it stopped working. Fortunately for us when we were trying to sleep, it stopped working.
