Man or woman?

Today, I did laundry in my apartment complex's laundry room. I put my stuff in the dryer and returned to my room. The sign on the door says the laundry room closes at 10 pm, but that's rarely true. Tonight it was. I have to wait until 8 am. I work at 7:30. My work clothes are in there. FML

I agree, your life sucks (4597) - you totally deserved it (20479)

Sucks to be you. Maybe know when the laundry room closes next time. FYL, but YDI too.

P.s. first

YDI. rules are rules

#14 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:16am by YDI_King

1. You don't leave your laundry, people can take it.
2. It says that it closes at 10.
3. YDI

#2 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:05am by pleasetryagain

those arent 3 reasons unless you're just saying YDI out of the blue

#17 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:19am by polico_wolf

Go to work naked. Get promoted. (like a boss)

#3 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:15am by mercyFML

I didn't know Advice Dog posted on here XD
Funny

#5 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:25am by mastershinigami

#5 - I was thinking the exact same thing. This thread needs Advice Dog badly.

#9 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:41am by Brave_Sir_Robin

[dog voice] ah ruv vu.

Better? :]

#18 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:24am by mercyFML

On one hand, YDI for not thinking ahead. You should have realized that just because the laundry room doesn't always close at the posted time doesn't mean it can't or won't close at that time.

On the other hand, if you're always busy and late nights are the only time you have to do your laundry...well, it doesn't totally mitigate the YDI, but it's still a bit FYL-ish.

Call in sick...

Maybe you shouldnt wait until ALL of you clothes are dirty before washing. I hope you are fired

#6 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:26am by donkey_hang_down

I think that's a little too extreme. The OP doesn't deserve to be fired for keeping his work attire clean. Plus he never stated he was doing ALL his laundry, it could just be that he was only washing his work clothes..

#12 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:10am by gigi37

UMMM ok, well let me rephrase that. Dont wait until all of your WORK clothes are dirty before you decide to wash them you lazy fuck

#13 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:11am by donkey_hang_down

Maybe it's a uniform and OP only has one or two sets?

#27 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:08pm by __no_one__

And you shouldn't jump to conclusions, Donkey. If you read the post, OP never said he held off washing his clothes until the last minute; he probably had a free evening and decided to wash his clothes because he had the time. Yes, he should not have assumed the facility would remain open, but no need to insult him without any proof.

#43 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:56pm by gigi37

So we shouldt assume that he waited till the last minute even though he stated that he has no clothes for work (because they are all in the laundry). And he didnt start washing until the laundry room was about to close? Hmm to me it is common sense.. Oh well

#49 - On 11/12/2009 at 10:31am by donkey_hang_down

I've got to go with Donkey on this one. All of his work clothes in the wash when the laundry room closes the night before he has to work early? Sounds like procrastination to me...

#50 - On 11/12/2009 at 5:03pm by Xader

Why do people write a FML when it's obvious it's their own fault? Don't think signs apply to you?

#7 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:31am by youthink

Always buy at least two sets of work cloths...

#8 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:39am by Lisa89

buy some clothes you scruff

#10 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:46am by feminist19

you cant just BUY clothes for a perticular place. his WORK clothes were in there, maybe we works in a shop with perticular uniforms.

#15 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:16am by polico_wolf

call in sick or call and say you will be running late. no biggie

#11 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:50am by patticake1601

exactly

#16 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:18am by unluckiestperson

How ridiculous for the laundry room to close overnight! I'd suggest starting a tenant petition to keep it open 24 hours.

#19 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:49am by ragsy

And you're an idiot. Every apartment complex I've ever lived in had the exact same rules - 8am to 10pm. They lock it at night so people can't fuck around or break shit while management isn't there. A few years before I moved into my current apartment some asshole flooded the laundry room in the middle of the night just for kicks.

Rules are there for a reason.

#25 - On 11/11/2009 at 1:35pm by avoidthegirl

what, you don't condone changing a system that works to satisfy the occasional whims of a few?

#42 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:20pm by amazingkate

so… you have enough time to post an FML, but you arent going to talk to the manager about this situation?

#20 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:06pm by tmptmptmp

sooo...do you live in Norman by chance? Cause I believe we may live in the same apartment complex. :)

#21 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:37pm by mxadeupree

Yep, there's definitely only one apartment complex in all of Oklahoma where the laundry room closes at 10 PM and isn't always punctual.

#26 - On 11/11/2009 at 1:45pm by palmtrees

lol i only ask cause the same thing happened to me recently. I find it quite funny

#32 - On 11/11/2009 at 4:13pm by mxadeupree

#33 - On 11/11/2009 at 4:13pm by mxadeupree

How do you NOT deserve this? For one I would never leave my laundry unattended in a public place that is just asking for it to get stolen. For two if it closes at 10, it probably occaisonally does and you should have gone down there right before ten.

#22 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:41pm by KarasuFyre

Oh no, you disregarded the rules and it came back to bite you in the ass. How terrible.

#23 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:59pm by john_cena

"exceptions prove the rule, and ruin the plan." better learn from your mistake

#24 - On 11/11/2009 at 1:26pm by someone1989

There is no 24 hour maintenance number you can call...? Hmmm, it sucks cause it happened but I think it's hardly an fml cause you kinda did it to yourself by assuming...

#28 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:09pm by crizpy7

Assume makes an "ass" out of "u" and "me". In this case, just you.

#29 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:16pm by Willy75

Considering that you had Internet connection, most likely on a phone, you should have attempted to contact someone.

#30 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:34pm by Zamax

Use your head! call in sick! wear different clothes you won't get fired for wearing an ACDC shirt and a pair of jeans. my doctor does, so do people who work in cubicals it expresses you individuality! unless it was for a big meeting, just chill.

YDI rules are rules.
YDI for leaving your clothes unattended, too.

#35 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:09pm by Kristoffer

You gambled and lost. YDI with the use of the word "usually". You knew there was a chance of this happening.

#36 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:10pm by Punkartmama

"rarely" not "usually". Sorry for the mis-quote. Either way, you knew this was possible.

#37 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:13pm by Punkartmama

sucks to be you

#38 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:23pm by saucey12

YDI,seriously.Next time don't treat rules like a bendy straw.

#39 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:18pm by alpha_beta

Good rule of thumb: if you can't afford to be wrong, don't risk it.

#40 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:43pm by keiran215

wear sweats to work, explain why you're dressed badly and don't push your luck next time.

#41 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:18pm by amazingkate

8am is pretty late for it to re-open again! It should be 6, or at least 7!

#44 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:00pm by hornetchik

Dude... don't you have other work clothes?

#45 - On 11/12/2009 at 12:13am by mirror_opposite

It could be worse, you coulda been stuck with wet, wrinkled clothes that still had to go thru the dryer tomorrow morning.

#46 - On 11/12/2009 at 1:33am by sarahj882

Well, the sign's there for a reason. And also... that's why you should do your laundry BEFORE you run out of clothes. So that you still have clothes if something happens to your laundry.

#47 - On 11/12/2009 at 2:39am by LilaBear

If the sign says it closes at a certain time, you assume you need to be done by that time, even if it generally is open a little later. At the very least if you were still doing laundry you should have stayed in the room in case someone did come to close it up, you could have just asked them to give you a few minutes to finish up.

Good thing Walmart is open all night!

#51 - On 11/12/2009 at 11:29pm by mirage24

My first thought was...thats why walmart is open. But no sit here on the internet and whine about it.

#53 - On 11/16/2009 at 1:46am by dru67

Cool story bro.

That is going to happen to me someday... they never seem to close when the sign says. But... as others have said, Walmart is open.
