Today, my dad's girlfriend threw me a birthday party and all the gifts, decorations, and the cake were according to my age, which they thought was 12. I turned 13 today. FML

Poor you, what a tragedy...

#1 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:05am by Horde

Yeah, Jesus how ungrateful, you got a party, no one cares how old you are. It doesn't matter until you're either 16, 18 or 21. All the other ages you should just be happy people remember it IS your birthday.

#55 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:12am by White667

Exactly, it's this kind of selfishness I hate most. So what if she was off by a year? She made the effort so she obviously cares which is more than OP seems to deserve.

#62 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:33am by Starayo

Honestly, the fact that she's not got any stake in it and tried to do something nice for you should absolutely trump the fact that she was a year off. Maybe if you were more mature she would've realized you were a year older.

#69 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:59am by vetter

Yeah OP, I hope you don't get any sympathy. My step dad doesn't even give a shit about me...

#73 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:20am by HahaYDI

Why are 13 year olds on this website anyway? More than half the stuff can't even relate to them..silly children

#89 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:37am by pancakes_n_syrup

@89,

I hope that was sarcasm. I'm 13 and I get whats going on. People don't have to go through the what happpens just so they can understand it.

#94 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:49am by monkeyspark

i completely agree 89. why the hell are there TWELVE YEAR OLDS on this site? anyone below the age of 14 has sent this site to shit. thanks a lot, children.

#99 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:08am by in_wonderland

Nope. Not a gross generalization at all...

Oh, and I'm 15.

#102 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:20am by ndawgg

@89 I completely agree although I'm only 16, which by most is still seen as part of 'the baby teens'. 12-year-olds, please, gtfo.

#110 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:45am by Metronomy

exactly

#127 - On 11/11/2009 at 1:33pm by life_can_suck21

Look at it this way, when they bought the stuff you were still 12, DAH! So shut up and be happy you got a party at all Brat.

#130 - On 11/11/2009 at 1:40pm by Party_Geek

@White667 you are forgetting the 50th and 100th birthday (if you get that far) are also important

#142 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:28pm by VraelVhalen

I agree with #89. Twelve and thirteen year old kids should definitely not be on this site. Like, really?

#154 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:10pm by riot_

Everyone shut the fuck up and stop pretending this is some exclusive club you belong to that's being broken into by new people. You're not some special person who gets a say in who comes here and who doesn't, so stop whining like babies.

No, no I'm not twelve. Thanks for ignoring my point and asking.

#157 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:21pm by BritishHobo

very well said. when i turned 13 my parents forgot it was my birthday to begin with. you should be grateful your dad's girlfriend even cares

#161 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:36pm by IchHasstKaterina

I'm 11 years old....
I don't see what's wrong with it :)

#176 - On 11/11/2009 at 4:28pm by scateice

#176: Of course you don't.

#181 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:11pm by Syn

All of you shut the fuck up. Middle school kids are the most annoying little fucks ever known to this world. Granted, I'm 16 (and a half), but seriously, I bet 85% of all the little arguments started on this site was a little seventh grader thinking how fucking great he is because he's a seventh grader. I LIVE with a fucking seventh grader. They're all annoying as hell. Right about freshman year is when those goddamn kids start calming down and shit, and start acting like normal people.

#189 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:39pm by xxCFHxx

I think you guys are mean, actually. It's the ones who think they're so cool, regardless of age, and better than everyone else, that annoy me. I think it's a real bummer that her father didn't even know her age. I'm eighteen, if that matters, since we're pulling rank.

#192 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:44pm by GrapefruitZoe

You can tell how many naive middle schoolers are on this website from the comment sections. Any normal adult knows that proposing to someone over Mafia Wars on Myspace is terrible, but the middle schoolers will come out and say "OMG UR SO UNGRATEFUL ID BE SO HAPPY IF SUM1 PROPOZED LYKE DAT TO ME" because they don't have common sense about life yet. I love my 14 year old sister but she is not on my level, sorry. I'm 19 and I've learned a LOT since middle school, so middle schoolers trying to act like they are above themselves need to deflate their little egos.

#194 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:58pm by expen_dable

You all need to stop calling to OP ungrateful, spoiled, etc, because yes, they did get a party thrown for them which is great. But the whole point was her own father and his girlfriend don't even know how old they are. A girlfriend is understandable, but it's really pathetic if you can't remember your own child's age. Also, don't just assume all 12 and 13 year olds are immature, annoying, etc. I know some of them really don't belong on this site, but at that age there's all kinds of maturity levels. When I was 12 i was a lot more mature then then some of the people my age, and everyone I hung around with then would definitely understand this site. By the time I was 13 almost everyone my age that I talked to would belong on this site, so don't just assume.

#199 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:28pm by TrxBld

@89 age doesn't matter you could be eight and have a lot of expirience. There are some thirteen year olds in this world who's mothers have died. And who do you think you are telling people what they can or can't do? I don't see a sighn anywhere saying 14 or older. And anyone who agrees with him grow up you where thirteen once dumbasses. Love you, Muah

-I'm nineteen by the way ;)

#225 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:34pm by fridalovesyou

My mom doesn't remember how old I am half the time.... This is so freaking selfish.
Wow be happy they gave you so much stuff. You suck. Total YDI.

#240 - On 11/12/2009 at 12:03am by PassionateFruit

Apparently, it was the father's girlfriend and only her who threw the party. Perhaps the dad didn't even know, or, if he did, she told him to leave it to her. That is how the FML is worded; "my dad's girlfriend threw me a birthday party" - no where does it say daddy got involved about it.
OP is being ungrateful. She's only his girlfriend, and perhaps hasn't even been his girlfriend for long. OP should cut the poor wretch some slack instead of being a brat.

#246 - On 11/12/2009 at 1:07am by DameGreyWulf

she should be happy that her STEP MOTHER even threw her a birthday party. and does it really matter what decorations were there?!? 12 & 13 year olds are basically interested in the same things anyway aren't they? i think children these days are all just spoiled brats. She should just be grateful her step mother is so generous.

#256 - On 11/12/2009 at 5:09am by mellieex3

I Agree with 89, If you don't have pubes, then get out!!

#259 - On 11/12/2009 at 6:49am by cucuto89

11? Of course you don't see any problem with it - you're way too young to understand 70% of the content on this site. I am only 13, but I'm pretty mature for my age. Age is not the same thing as maturity, but it is in the case of little 11/12-year-olds.

#261 - On 11/12/2009 at 10:54am by bgpink

@259:
Some kids start developing at 8 years old, others as old as into their early teens. So your statement is invalid here.

#262 - On 11/12/2009 at 10:56am by bgpink

261 - age makes a difference for 11 and 12 year olds but not for 13 year olds? why does it seem like that might have something to do with you being 13...

20 years old over here and okay with the tweens on fml. who the hell cares. if they're obnoxious and leave comments that make them obvious, feel free to hate on the individuals.

#264 - On 11/12/2009 at 1:06pm by concealedhavoc

Okay... Before people start jumping my ass, I'm 16 and a senior in high school.

To a preteen or even an insecure teen, age is important, and this would be a big deal. An adult could just laugh it off and be glad they looked a year younger. I'm not saying the chick isn't bratty for complaining about it on FML, I'm just saying that when you're young, it IS sort of an FML.

I don't think things like this should be on this site though, since the majority of users are older. Not to mention all the posts about sex, relationships, etc, that younger users can't understand or relate to. For example, a twelve-year-old girl might think it's hilarious and cool that a guy sounds like Chewbacca when he gets off (http://www.fmylife.com/intimacy/6126776). Ten years later (or even four or five) she'll see it in a totally different light.

Just an example.

#268 - On 11/12/2009 at 5:01pm by ScaryyMary

Agreed ConcealedHavoc.
bgpink-Wtf? So once you turn 13, your "mature" That doesn't make sense. I understand everything on this site you prick, and if I don't urbandictionary is there for me :) Mature for your age? I think not.
"Since Im like 13 im better than 11/12 yr olds cause theyre little and stuff"
I know it's gotta be cool to be a teenager and in charge of Middle School but you don't have the right to be totally ignorant...

#269 - On 11/12/2009 at 5:01pm by scateice

I think the FML here is that there are

#274 - On 11/12/2009 at 7:12pm by narks

I love how the "Lol kids are stupid I'm much better because I'm older hahaha" people are really much less mature than a lot of the 13-14 year olds.
I'm 15 by the way.

#295 - On 11/14/2009 at 12:28pm by arienh4

your profile says you're 16.

d'oh.

#300 - On 11/15/2009 at 3:19pm by uneed2calmdown

#302 - On 11/15/2009 at 3:27pm by fridalovesyou

If your dad's girlfriend is like 35 or whatever.. get her a 40 year old balloon on her next birthday :P She won't be happy either.

#2 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:06am by IllegalLight

Genius.

#193 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:53pm by TheTragicReturn

Lol!! Also if one of my parents' gf/bf threw me a party and was only off by a year that'd still be freakin awesome

#231 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:47pm by reapfml

i love how this conversation is a fight between thirteen-year olds and sixteen-year olds...the only ones who actually seem to care

anyway, OP, I'd be glad that she at least remembered, but I can see where you're coming from. It sounds like you already didn't like her and this was just one more thing to complain about. And to everyone saying she's selfish, remember how old she is. When you're younger, every little thing that goes wrong feels like it's the end of the world, and it's not.

#237 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:33pm by the_stereotype

that's terrible :S

#3 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:06am by Julianneisasmurf

Yeah send her a ballon on her birthday saying happy 40th birthday or something xD

#4 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:08am by Julianneisasmurf

Piss off of the internet you little jerk.

#5 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:09am by bugmenotmofo

nobody cares about 13 year old girls crying about daddy's new girlfriend. you have children things to do that aren't on the internet.

#81 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:53am by Poopybuttz

I can understand that. She is becoming a teenager! This is a very important birthday!! It's like when you turn 5 or 10. OP, you should've slapped that bitch across the face. How many of you ungrateful little fuckers remember your 13th birthday? Yeah, bet that didn't go so well. I live with two older brothers and my parents even call me by the wrong name!!! I've even been called my dog's name before!!! Jeez. OP, FYL.

#96 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:54am by Tigg3r

Is your dog called Ungrateful Cunt?

Also, how is 5 an important birthday? It's not at all.

how many girlfriends does your dad have?
from the sounds of things, too many. cut the man some slack, hes too busy juggling several relationships at once, most of us struggle with one. cant really blame him for forgetting a 12 yr olds birthday.

#6 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:11am by organisedchaos

Oh wow, that truly sux!! Happy Birthday :)

13 is a milestone birthday, so sad that they screwed it up for you

#7 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:12am by Playdate

Yes, sad that they screwed it up but you can take heart at the fact that she thought enough of you to go to the effort of actually doing something special for your birthday.......Next year just remind them that you will be 14 and not 13....or not, then they'll throw you teh 13th that you missed lol

#23 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:30am by Obelia

Awww Sweetie this isnt a Fml lol
Just change the twelve into a three..
So cute lol

#8 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:12am by Cristaderzi

...the two into a three might work a little better. unless he just has really fond memories of turning 3 and wants to relive them.

Quit bitching. At least they made the effort to throw you a party. Isnt it the thought that counts?

#10 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:14am by Reality_bites

Happy birthday

#11 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:15am by polico_wolf

That is not an FML. How is 12 that different from 13? Complain when you're 30 and everyone thinks you look 40. Focus on the fact that they even gave you a party with gifts and a cake, not on the tiny mistake they made. I'm guessing you ran out of the room in tears rather than saying thank you and enjoying the party.

#13 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:17am by gottabekidding

13 is a pretty special birthday. You can only have your Lucky 13 once. And yes, my dear, 13 and 12 are different numbers.

I like how people seem to think that birthdays aren't worth having until you're 30.

#17 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:20am by Kylias

My point was that it wasn't a big deal. She got a birthday party. I'm turning 17 and haven't had a birthday party or gifts from my family since I turned 10. It's not like they forgot her birthday completely.

Um 13 is pretty special, you only become a teenager once, it's one of those special birthdays.

#26 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:34am by Obelia

well then my 20th better be fucking spectacular!

#41 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:25am by brkn_hearted

How it is different...Hmm let me think...it's a YEAR apart!
Maybe it doesn't sound like a big deal but it is.You become a teenager once in your life and then [which is even more sad] your dad and his girlfriend screw it up for you because your dad doesn't know how old you are.Please...She's not being a spoiled bitch by complaining about that...What is the cake or the decorations worth if everything is wrong?

#42 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:26am by UglyKid345

i wouldn't have put this through though. yeah first year into the teens and all but it's not like when you're 30 your'e gonna be like, "OMFG! I HAD THE BEST 13TH BIRTHDAY PARTY 17 YEARS AGO AND IT WAS AWESOME!" or "OMFG! ='( THEY DIDN'T THROW ME A GOOD 13TH BIRTHDAY PARTY CORRECTLY! MY LIFE HASN'T BEEN THE SAME!" seriously now -.-

but then i guess being 13 that IS a big thing at that age. see, this is why i never joined the debate team, i can never really argue just one side :P not voted both ways though

#44 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:29am by brkn_hearted

Thirteen is only a big deal if you're a little buttwipe who cares about graduating from middle school as well.

"You only become a teenager once?" WTH is that? Does she get more legal rights when she's 13? No. Does society view her differently? No. There is NO difference.

Anyone who cares is clearly a prissy little princess who needs to grow up.

Just sayin'.

#103 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:20am by Rhaegar

Yup the big birthdays of upmost importance are 1 (your first birthday), 2 (cause you only turn 2 once), 3 (cause you only turn 3 once), 4 (cause you only turn 4 once), 5 (cause you only turn 5 once... AND kindergarten!), 6 (cause you only tun 6 once), 7 (cause you only tun 7 once), 8 (cause you only turn 8 once), 9 (cause you only turn 9 once), 10 (DOUBLE DIGITS! YOU ONLY HIT DOUBLE DIGITS ONCE!.... oh and you only turn 10 once as well), 11(cause you only turn into annoying tween once... and 11 once as well), 12 (cause you only turn 12 once), 13 (cause you only turn 13 once... AND OMFG I'm TOTALLY LIEK A TEENAGER AND STUFF AND IM LIEK TOTALY 1NT3RD3PEND3NT OR 20M3THIN!!111) , 14 (cause you only enter high school and turn 14 once), 15 (cause you only turn 15 once), 16 (cause you only tun 16 once), 17 (cause you only turn 17 once AND LIKE OMG IM A HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR!), 18 (cause I'm like totally a man/woman-child now.... and you only turn 18 AND legal once), 19 (cause you only turn 19 once and its the last year of being an annoying over dramatic brat), 20 (cause you only turn 20 once and no longer a teenager... arguably much more important than 13 because you cease to be a little brat), 21 (cause you only become able to legally drink once... and turning 21 once).... etc.

ITS ALL SO IMPORTANT! FYL FOR HAVING SOMEONE WHO TOTALLY CARES BUT MADE A MISTAKE! SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE GIVEN YOU A BIRTHDAY PARTY AT ALL.... THATS HOW MUCH SHE FUCKED UP YOUR LIFE!

#115 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:06pm by theblazian

Excellent post #42. I just cannot understand how so many people said YDI. How could anyone "deserve" to have their family forget how old they are? Seriously, its like everybody on this site has no recollection of what it's like to be 13. For a lot of people on here, it wasn't that long ago. That means quit acting like you're that far removed. And for everyone that did experience being 13 a long time ago, just because the OP isn't as jaded and negative as you doesn't mean that she isn't allowed to be upset. The OP is still a child and should therefore act like a child. It's perfectly normal for her to be bothered by this. Is her life over? No. But very few FMLs on this site are that severe. OP, FYL.

#185 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:28pm by synchroskater

#185 I agree. It seems like the majority of the comments here are just a bunch of children trying to display some level of maturity by telling a younger child to suck it up and grow up. I find it repulsive and inexcusable for a parent to not remember the age of their own child! My kids are in high school and college now (older than some of the kids on here trying to display their maturity), and I could not imagine forgetting their ages. FYL OP.

#279 - On 11/12/2009 at 11:16pm by mjka

Aww, that sucks. Congrats and happy birthday!

And congratulations on being 13 and typing more coherently than most of the older crowd.

#14 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:17am by Kylias

Exactly! I think the people who freak out (especially writing in all caps) are the ones showing immaturity, not the girl who's upset because her dad's too focused on his girlfriend to remember her milestone birthday. I'd really love to see half these people's reactions if the same thing happened to them.

Op, happy birthday, and while you are no adult, you are beginning the path to maturity. There's no shame in that.

#163 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:42pm by quarty165

Give her a cake and a balloon saying 'Happy 85th Birthday, Grandma!'

From personal experience, step-mothers and father's girlfriends purposefully mess up your birthdays so you don't spend any time with your father and they can have him all to herself.

I would have told the slut that you are 13 and not 12 right in front of everyone so she feels really stupid.

#45 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:37am by SenGaeriel

this does not deserve to be a FML

be grateful she had the decency to throw you a party
not whiny about her being off by a year

if this is really how you define your life as f@wked up
i wonder what it means when your life is a living hell

#46 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:39am by broke_otaku

ummm they are probably grateful for the party they were thrown, the fml is that his dad doesnt even know how old he is.. his own dad.. that is sad.

#59 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:21am by amiotica

Stop attacking the poor guy..
The FML below is someone who got woken up by a car alarm,
he said FML but he isn't really saying that his life is fukd up.
Most kids get excited about becoming a teenager (i know i was) and the maturity that came with that.
Having a parent/step-parent/parent's partner get that wrong kind of diminishes that you are going to be treated as a teenager rather than a child.
And I really doubt a 13 year old male would run out of a room crying because of the silly woman, my guess would be that he laughed it off.

#47 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:46am by wolfpep

So she was off by a year. So what?!

#48 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:46am by youthink

I think it is more the fact that her Dad didn't point out to his girlfriend that she is turning 13, and obviously doesn't know how old his daughter is.

#137 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:06pm by stevets01

or maybe she was heaps superstitious.

#49 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:49am by wolfpep

my dad put on a greyhound home for my 13th birthday, without remembering it was my birthday

so i get it years later why this is an fml, i still remember how it felt for my dad not to know my bd

good for step mom to try, an get used to it, she will make mistakes but probably try her but off to make tings work between you all

#50 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:50am by GJMO

That sucks! At least they didn't totally forget about your birthday...

#51 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:52am by Punkartmama

Wow, so they go through the effort of throwing you a birthday party, with cake and gifts, and because they were one letter off, your whole life is fucked?

Ungrateful child..

#52 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:05am by Darthbane2007

he's not saying that you twit

#53 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:09am by wolfpep

I meant one year off. Still, she's an ungrateful child..

#54 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:11am by Darthbane2007

I think it's sweet your dad's girlfriend did all that for you. At my age right now I don't really see the fml-ness about accidentally thinking you're 12 instead of 13, but I suppose that when you're younger it seems like much bigger of a deal. Either way, happy birthday!

By the way, what do you mean by "all the gifts" being according to the age 12 instead of 13? Did she get you something you would've loved to get one year ago but now hate?

#56 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:13am by aphrodita

This is a fake FML.

The cake is a lie...
The cake is a lie...
The cake is a lie...
The cake is a lie...

#57 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:14am by Brave_Sir_Robin

Are the type of presents really going to change that much between 12 and 13?

#58 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:19am by weedking

no they are greatful for the party... but when your parents cant remember how old you are.. there is something wrong...

#60 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:22am by amiotica

What is wrong with all of you? At 13 it IS a big deal. And while I'm not sure a 13 year old should be on this website, if her own father is unaware of her age there is something wrong. Sorry girl, that stinks!!!!!!!!!!!

#61 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:24am by daymare

I was gonna post 'i'm 12 and what is this.' but I've been beaten. ah well, happy birthday sweetie.

#63 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:34am by picturetaker

How about assuming the woman that was trying to be really nice to you mixed up your age because you don't ACT LIKE IT. Honestly, a 13 year old whining after her father's girlfriend took the time to make her a nice Birthday party? You sound like an immature little snot nosed brat in my eyes, OP. Congratulations, you're 13 now, a teenager. So why didn't you go to a club or cafe or restaurant even with your friends to celebrate like one instead of whining like an ungrateful little kid because the adults did a minor mistake? In my opinion YDI for not acting like you're 13.

#64 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:38am by dawneh666

i wish everyone would shut the fuck up. it's not unreasonable for her to expect her own father to know her age. and to the asshole that told her to go to a "club" on her birthday, are you joking? next time you go to a club let me know how many 13 year olds you see.

#65 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:42am by lyz12312

wow....... how the fuck did this made it through moderation

#66 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:45am by lolwatlol

holy shit i agree with you ^^^
13 yr olds on fml?
shouldnt you be playing with toys?
noo this generation is way to fucked with technology and trends.
bet anything you have a nice looking i phone, some nice heels, stunna shades, the best looking jeans, and thongs...

sigh what has this world come to...

#67 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:51am by Mx_Rider

Damn, why is everyone being so rude about it? It's not too much to ask for your father to remember your birthday, whatever year it happens to be.

#68 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:55am by grimacedia

Quit bitching. Be glad someone cares enough to throw you parties. After my 11th birthday, my parents told me I'm too old to be celebrating birthdays.

#70 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:59am by einletztesmal

this isn't an FML, people actually gave a s**t enough about you to throw you a party, but yes your life sucks! Meanwhile someone else spends their brithday alone, and it passed quietly. YDI for being so ungrateful.

#71 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:07am by someone1989

this is NO fml!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#72 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:15am by OfficerFLM

I mean really, stop inventing drama. She threw you a goddamn party and made an honest mistake. Woe is you, nobody understands you, you hate the world, and all that shit. Get over yourself.

#74 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:22am by itsmelen

shutup selfish be grateful they even cared enough to throw u a party

#75 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:29am by 1234jnimawe

aaw
how cute

#76 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:36am by shalvius

I think I should spell it out for the stupid people who say this isn't an FML. It's been said before, but maybe I'll say it again. The girlfriend has somewhat of an excuse to get the birthday wrong because she's getting to know her or whatever. It's an FML because her FATHER does not remember her correct age.

Does that need more explaining or are people gonna continue to whine saying it's no big deal? Right. And as others were saying, you only turn into a teen once.

#77 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:36am by rhcpfan

I don't think she's complaining about the party being messed up. She's upset because her own FATHER forgot his daughter's birthday.

And yes, 13 is a very important year. And there is a big difference in turning 13 from 12.

It's sad to see that so many people on this site automatically assume the worst in people and just want to criticize them.

#78 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:41am by Whatsername515

There's no difference. Stop deluding yourself. Just because someone cares a lot (e.g. the psycho OP) doesn't mean their obsession is justified.

#105 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:23am by Rhaegar

Completely unnecessary to jump down OP's throat for this. I mean really, I'm shocked FML hasn't been shut down yet since apparently, none of the posts are ever FMLs.

Anyway, OP, at least she put in some sort of effort. Yeah, you'd kind of expect someone who cares enough to throw you a party to also care enough to know what age you are, but this might be something you look back at in a few years and laugh about.

#79 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:47am by ihatestupidppl

Maybe it's because you don't look ... "developed" ... enough yet. ㄟ㋛ㄏ

#80 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:51am by blastvortex

you really suck you are selfish and I hope you get herpys

#82 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:06am by Bishop0523

Wow, #82 if you're going to insult someone, at least check your spelling. It's spelled "herpies." :) I definitely don't think you did a typo there and you really think "herpies" is spelled "herpys" lmfao.

#90 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:43am by jessx0x

Actually, it's herpes. Half credit for trying, though!

#97 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:56am by GabriLee

at least she got the right day..

#83 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:13am by bucklife

I know it must be a downer that your dad's girlfriend mixed up your age, but it's an easy enough mistake to make. When she bought these things, you /were/ 12.

But she took the time, effort, and money to throw you a party with gifts, decorations, and cake... you're a lucky kid. I hope you appreciate it.

#84 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:15am by MouseyN

at least you're getting a party.

#85 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:15am by rraaee

I hope you said thank you :)

#86 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:24am by jakeJIGSAW

it's not really an fml it was nice that your dads girlfriend made the effort to throw you a party so hopefully you weren't ungrateful and stomped out crying. the fml part is that your dad didn't know how old you are

#87 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:25am by Starfire22

stfu brat.

#88 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:29am by mandoopandoo

It's not that much of a big deal, they cared enough to throw you a birthday party in the first place and I bet they feel pretty terrible they got the age wrong.
The point is what on Earth is a 13 year old doing on this site anyway, half this stuff doesn't relate to you at all...

#91 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:43am by eliz3

It's not ungrateful for someone to expect her to remember how old she was turning. Why even go to the effort at all if you're gonna do it half-assed. I think if I had the choice, I would've said toss the birthday party unless you're gonna do it right, otherwise all you are is disappointed and the purpose of even having a party has gone down the toilet...

#92 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:45am by Voids

the cake is a lie...
the cake is a lie...

the cake is a lie...
the cake is a lie...

Hehe. Your dad must like his new girlfriend. ^^

#95 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:53am by Sakke

ah crap, 13 year olds on FML? Great parenting letting your 13 year old on the net without monitoring. What the crap are you doing on this site!!!

#98 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:58am by patticake1601

Obviously the OP doesn't have the best parents when her dad doesn't even know how old she is.

#112 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:51am by cherylface

Okay, I know I posted earlier but OP, it is a big deal turning thirteen. I would've slapped her and said I'm 13 bitch!!! That's okay, for my twelfth brithday my parents made me go to a tae kwon do testing instead of letting me stay home and celebrate. I still hold it over thier heads. Yeah, I did get to go to the wild animal park but I wanted to go ON my birthday, not three days later. I can only remember having one awesome birthday party and that was my tenth. People out there, he's saying his own father forgot how old he was. How would you like it if your parents forgot how old you were? I know I would've started screaming.

#100 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:08am by Tigg3r

Wow, you sound totally mature. It's not all that surprising that your parents didn't want to be with you on your birthday.

OP: Quit whining. I know it sucks that your dad forgot your age, but you got a party and they obviously care about you enough to do that. It's just a day, you'll have more birthdays.

#139 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:14pm by Gingerly

Your parents bought you tae kwon do lessons? Excuse me while I don't feel sorry for you. And they took you to an animal park? Where do you get off complaining about them not catering to your petty little schedule? Good lord, you have no idea how quickly I would have gotten nothing for my birthday had I been a whiny little brat about what I received, and rightfully so.

And your cocky claim that you would slap your father's girlfriend across the face and call her a bitch? I don't believe you for one second. It's mind-boggling to think of how disrespectful that would be when she went through the effort to plan your party, and just made an honest mistake. The party wasn't ruined, all they had to do was laugh about the mistake and move on with it.

My parents have thought that I was the wrong age on many occasions. It happens. I understand their explanation that they will always think of me as their child, and it's hard to believe that so much time has gone by since I was born. To start screaming at them would be... well, like something a toddler would do. A spoiled toddler, at that.

#168 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:58pm by Sappheyes

Seriously, is this person joking? Or ar they actually the world's most spoilt person?

I once saw a clip from that show 'My Super Sweet Sixteen.' This mom got her daughter a really expensive sports car, and when she showed it to her, the girl started having a fit, complaining she didn't want any presents until her party, and yelling that her mom had 'ruined her birthday.'

...was that you?

#169 - On 11/11/2009 at 4:01pm by BritishHobo

Oh, dude, #169, that one might've been the one I was watching with my cousins (all girls) in their basement. It was a like a S500-some Mercedes, like one that cost 120k+ (I went car-shopping with my parents, who went to a Maybach-Benz dealer). Conveniently, it was a fucking marathon, and one of the girls seriously started crying and screaming because she couldn't get pink roses as the centerpiece at the tables.
Basically what I'm trying to say is that it's not a big deal. Reply with "YES IT IS!!!" after I share this.
How about the next birthday, instead of planning a party at all, the OP's dad's girlfriend gets drunk, and starts beating her to a bloody pulp.
Or, between now and then, the OP suddenly get's Stage IV cancer, and she has 2 months to live.
Or, if instead of being born into a family that can afford a party, she's born in Somalia, where her parents are infected with AIDS and have a life expectancy of 40, where she has 6 brothers and sisters, no money, no house, no food, and there's a dudes killing each other all up and down the streets.
Fucking perspective.

#108 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:33am by strikeoutgirl

You're an idiot. The only birthdays worth caring about are your 16th ( for girls at least), 18th, and 21st. But congratulations for officially becoming a teenager and falling right into the whiney little girl category. Have fun hanging outside of movie theaters and wandering around malls in packs.

#109 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:34am by dspadres

im 13 too. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#111 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:49am by suzanabanna

poor baby, i'm so sorry.
because all of the kids in third world countries who don't get birthday parties are less important than your parents throwing you a party, but not with the right age.

#113 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:51am by kittydelusional

OH NOES! WHY WHY WHY!?!?!?!?!

#116 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:11pm by discosoup

I think his point is that her/his father did not know her/his age. The girlfriend got the info from the Dad. I think the Dad should know his kid's age. Hey Mr./Ms. 13, sometimes Dad's don't keep up with that kind of stuff, and they have a hard time remembering how much time has passed.

#117 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:13pm by deepbluesea

Most of you are being ridiculous. There are loads of children way younger than 13 who understand what people say on this website and I'm pretty sure they're more mature than most of you.

The point is that her own dad did not correct his girlfriend which I think would be the best thing to do. I understand that's it's nice that she cares but it heartbreaking to know that nobody cares enough to know how old you are.

And it DOES matter when you are that young. No matter how old you are everybody deserves to have family and friends in their life who actually know how old you are!

#118 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:34pm by tigitiger22

it's the thought that counts, you ungrateful little shent! seriously, you'll probably laugh about this at your 14th birthday party, so it's in no way life fucking.

#119 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:46pm by asafetybuzz

People under 18 shouldn't use FML.

My dad forgets my age all the time. One time he thought I was seven instead of eight. Whoop-dee-fucking-doo. I don't complain about it.

#120 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:47pm by strawberryswirl

OP, I'm sorry this happened to you. Their intentions were good. It's clear they care about you, but made an error. This year you should resolve to spend more time with your dad and his girlfriend so you can all get to know each other better. If you are unable to spend time with them, at least try to communicate with them more frequently.

If you do spend a lot of time with them and have been saying excitedly for the last month "I turn thirteen next month. How do you think things will be different when I'm thirteen?", then I am doubly sorry this happened to you.

#121 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:53pm by unpossible

yeah i know that's harsh.. but look at it like this, they tried to give you an amazing birthday and that's all that should matter.
I turn 21 in a couple of days and i'm getting sod all. and whatever i am getting i've had to go out and buy myself because i wouldnt get otherwise.. just count yourself lucky.

#122 - On 11/11/2009 at 12:54pm by Rude_Girl_Ska

#141 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:22pm by Lightz_Camera_Me

#143 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:28pm by myballs

I'm presuming you didn't notice that the OP is a GIRL. She doesn't have any balls to drop. Idiot.

And TO the OP...I'd say FYL because your 13th is a big date, but trust me, there are more important things. I didn't celebrate my 18th. The wonders of fostercare for you. I'd just been dumped by the person I'd been with for 15months and my cat had just been run over. There're much worse things that can happen to you other than someone getting your age wrong.

#147 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:34pm by The_Disturbed

wow thats nothing do you remember the last time i had a party? yeah neither can i.
SO STOP YOUR BITCHING AND SUCK IT UP YOU UNGRATEFUL CUNT

#144 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:29pm by babyblu72

I'm 12, turning 13 in a few days, I mainly go on this site because I just love reading it. Just a nice site to go onto if you want a few laughs to remember later in the day or if you've already had a bad one.

@ OP: Just be grateful they remembered and went through the effort.

#145 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:32pm by iDrea

Oh for fuck's sake. That comment made me want to die. It was just so pathetic. Jesus christ. Either acquire the mindset of an adult or shut the fuck up.

I'm also aware that yes, my comment was very immature and that I should not tell others to be more mature when I can't even string together a sentence without profanities... bla bla bla... cursing is not the way to express myself... bla bla bla... but sometimes telling someone to be quiet is just not the same.

#149 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:50pm by repyourcliche

i beg the question...why are there 13 year olds on this site? FML is a bit mature in nature.

As to the post, big f*cking deal. I had b-day parties growing up and I wish I hadn't. Parties should be held for accomplishments. Celebrating the fact that once again you're a year older? I know I have a weird way of looking at it but that's just me. I think most holidays are crap too. I have a fiance that feels the same way though.

I understand that most people like b-day parties. At least your father's gf remembered. Teenagers nowadays are bratty little f*ckwits. You prove me right.

#146 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:33pm by KarelessKitten

awwww ur 13!!! so cute. happy birthday!

#148 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:41pm by iheart

shoo, at least you got a party. besides, your parents thinking your older than you are has it's advantages...

#150 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:51pm by hXcsoccerplaya

I never had a birthday party, and I'm 22. You got an awesome party and complain because they got a year wrong? Age doesn't really matter until you're 16/18/21 anyway...Stop whining so much.

And OP, you're 13, get off this site because you whine about stupid childish things... This is why I hate most teenagers..

#151 - On 11/11/2009 at 2:58pm by zee209

As surprising as this may be, I am also thirteen and I am all for the good of this website. I don't post bogus stories because it is "fun". I will only comment on select topics. If a thirteen year old is mature enough, he/she should be able to use almost any website. Plus, there are twenty year olds on this sit that are less mature than I.

#152 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:02pm by onealhart54

Um..doesn't FML prompt you when setting up your profile as to old you are? I'm pretty sure you are supposed to be 18 years old and up to read FML content. although, im not 100 % sure.

#153 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:08pm by KarelessKitten

I'm sooo sorry that your family cares enough to throw you a birthday party! Grow up you spoiled little shit!!!

#155 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:13pm by tony8pie

We need higher standards for what constitutes an FML. Otherwise, we get people like this kid whining about some mundane, inconsequential bullshit that no one really cares about. Take my advice, kid: if the biggest problem in your life right now is that a few party favors had the wrong age on them, then you need to be exceedingly grateful that you have no real problems. Your life seems pretty damn good to me, so stop complaining about it just to get attention on the internet.

#156 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:14pm by BlueberryPies

Your dad's girlfriend threw you a party? I envy you, I have a stepmother (who my dad has been with for about 9-10 years) and she barely even speaks to me even though we live in the same house, so consider yourself lucky. Besides, I would have found the whole thing hilarious :D I hope you had a good party anyways :]

#158 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:26pm by ChChCharlie

Cry me a fucking river! You are saying fuck my life because someone missed your age by a year? People out there have real problems. Oh, poor me. fml, i'm 13! not 12. Ungrateful brat!

#159 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:33pm by drew328

I don't really consider this much of an FML. Yes, you're a teenager now but are you really any different than you were when you were twelve? I'm thirteen and I didn't make a big deal about my thirteenth birthday. Even though you're a teenager now you'll still be called a kid. I wouldn't worry about the mess up. Because they forgot this time they probably won't forget again either.

#160 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:34pm by TheMisplacedEnd

Maybe they were thinking smart. As an author once said, you are never really think like a 12 year old until your 13th birthday. So maybe your family is well read...
That does suck though. :(

#162 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:38pm by Zamax

wow. one whole year. so ducking what? at least she cared enough to throw u a party. ungrateful little shit. ydi for being a queer bait.

#164 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:46pm by tazz9690

If it's your Dad's girlfriend, you can't really blame her for the mistake... I mean, how well does she know you? Maybe she was just trying to score points with you, she still deserves an A for effort. Next time she will know not to specify an age when decorating! :)

#165 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:48pm by apparations

Get over it. You got a birthday party, when a lot of people don't. You should just be happy she cared enough to actually throw a brat like you a party. I know I wouldn't if I were her.

#166 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:51pm by KaylaKiwified

Honestly, you should be happy she remembered your birthday at all. My own BIOLOGICAL father still has to ask when my birthday.

#167 - On 11/11/2009 at 3:57pm by scarling

OP, quit complaining. I never got a birthday party. My parents never gave a shit.

#170 - On 11/11/2009 at 4:02pm by iamelrebel

I havn't spoken to my dad in years and his girllfriend doesn't give a shit about me so stop complaining.
And everyone stop acting like you have the right to tell people wheather they're alowd on this site cause you don't so shut the fuck up

#171 - On 11/11/2009 at 4:05pm by Tahli37

This isn't an FML. I stopped getting birthday parties at all when I was TEN. It's not the end of a the freaking world, jeez.

#172 - On 11/11/2009 at 4:07pm by shiarrael

stop complaining, at least they remembered it was your birthday.

#173 - On 11/11/2009 at 4:08pm by smartieee

Ohh stop whining. At least they threw you a party and everything.
You got the whole sha-bang.
I'd be grateful she'd try at all.

#174 - On 11/11/2009 at 4:18pm by zawed

I got my first gf at 15....and still thought about freaking pokemon

#175 - On 11/11/2009 at 4:22pm by longoria13

Dude, at least she cares about you and is trying.

YDI for whining.

#177 - On 11/11/2009 at 4:35pm by rockstarK9

I'm 11 years old! :D

(someone's gonna bitch now)

#179 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:03pm by scateice

How many kids at that age don't know how old their parents or grandparents are? Just saying...
OP, your dad and his girlfriend might have made a mistake, but so what? It's not like they don't love you just because they think you're turning 12. lol And you didn't have to celebrate your 12th birthday either just 'cause the decoration said so. Tell them you're turning 13 and stop crying. -.-You got a party, for god's sake!

And by the way...who says her father doesn't know how old she is anyway? I'd rather say it's his girlfriend who bought the decoration and stuff (I mean... he's a man, you know? XD) and who says she asked him how old his daughter was? She might have thought she knew how old her boyfriend's daughter was and bought the stuff. Well, she was wrong about it. No big deal.

#180 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:07pm by edgeofhysteria

Your stupidity amazes me. -.-
Her own dad thought she was turning 12.
That's pretty fucked up.

#184 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:25pm by scateice

Oh yeah, sure. He can't love his daughter when she's 12 and not 13, it's impossible for people to mix things up and of course you never make mistakes! lol

#186 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:28pm by edgeofhysteria

My dad mistakes my name for my other 2 siblings and thought I turned 19 two months ago when i turned 20.... I'm so hated by my family I think I'm going to commit suicide.

#260 - On 11/12/2009 at 8:30am by theblazian

Happy birthday you are now legally eligible to be on the internet without/with less parental supervision!

#183 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:23pm by Shuri

gtfo the internet

#187 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:34pm by anonymous69

i can definitely see how easy it is to make that mistake, especially since you were 12 during the party planning. the thought is what's important. i'm sure if you pointed it out she would have ran to the dollar store and quickly gotten you a new candle and the party would still be the same.

#188 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:38pm by awesome_o

Today, i threw my boyfriends daughter a party. i screwed up, embarssed myself and now feel like shit.fml. Did u ever think about ur dads girlfriends feelings? yeah turing 13 IS a big deal (kind of) and im sure she feels realy bad. At least she tryed to do something for you. bulid a bridge and get over it.

#191 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:40pm by neverStopLaughin

the real kick is "they" ... i assumed you meant YOUR DAD and his lady.

#196 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:05pm by azn_whiz

You're right! How could that stupid woman not pay attention to your needs as a poor helpless ungrateful bitch! The nerve! I say you cry and complain until she throws you another party.

#197 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:11pm by epicFAIL_Sometim

oh no u should run away from home cause u got it so bad be happy u got cake and presents

#198 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:19pm by sterotype

Good you got presents 'n stuffs, but it really is terrible they did something like that. But people think "twelve-year-old presents" are ponies and stuffed animals. Most twelve-year-old girls would want clothes and stuff like that.

Weird they didn't figure out you were thirteen. Even the girlfriend shouldn't be THAT stupid.

One time, on my 11th birthday, I went to a restaurant and the waitress asked if I was turning eight.

#200 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:28pm by scarletdragonfly

Someone not at all related to you, who may or may not be fairly new to your family, went out of her way to throw you a pretty good birthday party. I mean, really, it sounds like she bought a lot of decorations and went all-out with the cake. If you really fancy yourself mature now, you'll understand it's the thought that counts. I've had family members (who I don't see a lot, admittedly) think I was still in high school, for the love of God, and I graduated college two years ago. I just told them what I'd been up to and didn't resent the fact that they hadn't been checking up on me personally, since it's a big family and I live pretty far away. While I understand feeling hurt, don't make this into a big deal. People care about you and tried to do right by you, and that ought to be what matters.

#201 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:28pm by pope_suburban

If they tried to do something good and it's the though that counts, they should at least know what she's turning. I mean, if they don't even know your age they probably don't give a crap

#206 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:14pm by scateice

We have no idea how long this woman has been dating the OP's dad, and we don't know that she didn't ask how old the OP was turning, but was misinformed. The idea that a pretty extravagant birthday party is not good enough and constitutes an FML speaks more to tweenage misery-dick contests than it does to this woman's goodness. Incidentally, since you're put out over this kind if minor (secondhand) mistake, your misery dick is not going to be winning any contests.

#210 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:24pm by pope_suburban

Holy shit, reading these comments makes me scared. How many prepubescent kids are there here?

And that's not an fml. Don't be such a brat and appreciate that she made such an effort to make your day special.

#202 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:30pm by offmycloud

How the hell did this even make it on here? You're 13, there is nothing in your life right now that could warrant an FML.

#203 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:02pm by tyler907

Ok im 13. so that means I'm automactilly stupid, a brat, and annoyin?. You can't just say that just because of someone's age. People think I'm mature for my age and they feel sorry for me because lots of other people are immature. I really hate it when people judge every kid just because of a few bad apples. And you can't tell people to get off a website. Do you own it? Uhh no. and look i made a point without cussing. Unlike some people on this website to claim to be more mature cuss in like almost every sentence.

#204 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:06pm by WOW_idc123

You type like you're thirteen, and yes, that is relevant when you're trying to talk down to a bunch of people about whose ages and credentials you know nothing. It's rather like wearing a shirt with a homophobic joke printed on it while lecturing people about tolerance: in other words, you end up looking like a fool. You admit that a lot of your peers are immature, and yet here you are complaining that other people think your peers are immature. Kid, you've got a long way to go, because "mature for your age" is still relative. You'll come across a lot better if you get off your high horse, because there's a lot more to maturity than simply not cursing.

#213 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:27pm by pope_suburban

How the hell is this an FML!? You should feel grateful that she tried to do something nice for you.

#205 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:12pm by Cloudy

I have to agree with others, this site is not for annoying tweens and 13 year olds. Go to high school, and then come back.
And I don't really think it's that big of a deal that they messed it up. You could have just laughed it off.
BTW, turning 13 is not really that amazing. GREAT, now you can see the movies that you were seeing at 12 anyways, right? You're still immature, as that's why you posted this as a Fuck my life.
I'm 16, btw.

#207 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:18pm by piano993

Why does your age matter? Your still a bitch :D

#219 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:51pm by scateice

Your all a bunch of faggotfuckretards for havin this big arrogant opinion on age, im 14, and i think if a 6 year old that warrants the respect that one would normally grant to a 20yearold, they deserve the respect, dont generalise sheep

#208 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:20pm by eoghanface

"faggotfuckretard"
Yeah, way to prove everyone's point.

#211 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:26pm by HookEmTexas07

2 things:
1. u ppl need anger management.
2. the 13th birthday is a very important birthday for some people. especially if you are jewish. Jewish girls get bat mitzvahs, which parents spend, on average, $20,000 dollars on. It is a considered a major milestone. It is the beginning of the teenage years. It seems insignificant when you are older, but to a girl that age, it is very important.

P.S. I AM NOT 13. I'M 17!

#212 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:26pm by purplepandagirl

Were the OP Jewish, I am pretty sure she would have referred to her bat mitzvah. That's kind of a relevant cultural term here. The reason than bat and bar mitzvahs are significant is because *in Jewish culture* that is the age of majority. For us gentiles, thirteen has no special significance. And incidentally, girls typically have bat mitzvahs on their twelfth birthdays, so for all you're going on, you don't seem to know too terribly much about the tradition. You sure do know a lot about being a spoiled teenager, though, so I guess I will defer to you on matters of angst, melodrama and severe overreaction.

#215 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:31pm by pope_suburban

actually, only orthodox girls have bat mitzvahs on their twelfth birtdhays.

#216 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:34pm by purplepandagirl

Now I'm going to be busy all night tracking down old classmates to tell them they did it wrong. Since you let the rest of it go, though, I'm assuming you realized that the OP probably wouldn't have neglected to mention such important information. Salvage what smugness you can by nit-picking, I guess.

#221 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:55pm by pope_suburban

One, I'm a girl. Two, saying that it shouldn't make a difference because it's just one year is COMPLETELY wrong for the following reasons. It's the beginning of my teen years and I already had my bat mitzvah (LAST YEAR). Also, would it be okay if your dad thought you sixteenth birthday was your fifteenth?? DIDN'T THINK SO.

#217 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:40pm by sophie_the_freak

Actually, he did. Since my parents remembered the day and still did the gifts-and-cake thing, I wasn't too put out. Parents, on the whole, don't want to think about their kids growing up, and damned if how strict they are with teenagers doesn't show it. A bit of denial on the numbers is understandable, and I remember being cognizant of it even then. So there's at least one person who wasn't totally devastated and pwned by your brilliant logic.

#220 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:52pm by pope_suburban

That really sucks babe. Im sorry. You should throw your dads girlfriend a party and make everything according an age like 5 years older than what she is actually turning on her next B-day.

#218 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:42pm by bobinoguaviare

i agree w/ #217. however old u are, think back to your last birthday? how much have changed since then? Are you really the same person now, that you were then? also how many of ur parents threw you a birthday party every year of your childhood, and got ur age right???

#222 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:00pm by purplepandagirl

fuck you its only a birthday would it really even matter, also the presents would be about the same so who cares.

#223 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:10pm by epb111

um sweatheart ur making too big of a deal maybe she forgot or something? but atleast she threw a party be thankful. oh and p.s... ur 13 and u think ur life sucks? yeah ok

#224 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:14pm by ezgrl95

I don't even remember my 13th birthday, which was 13 years ago. You'll get over it, child

#226 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:35pm by blacklikemyheart

This makes me really sad. Not the actual topic, but the fact that kids under 15 are on this site. Personally, when I was the OP's age, my mother screened what I did on the internet. Hell, i didn't even know what most swear words meant. It's pathetic that parents are so lazy now that they don't care about what their kids are doing. I've heard of sixth graders who have taken ecstasy and had sex before they even turned 13. It's just sick how active kids are in the adult world.

Advice: maybe you should spend more time OFF the internet and WITH your parents/step parents so that they can actually get to know you and find out how old you even are.

#227 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:37pm by vsch

Oh Grow up I was in this site when I was thirteen, Are you calling my mum pathetic? And do you see a sign anywhere that says 15 or older? Just because your 13 or 12 or whatever age group you guys are whining about doesn't make you any different it doesn't matter if you're eighteen or eight you're still gonna have problems sorry to burst you bubble sweetheart. The only reason kids are so active in the adult world is because of idiots like you looking down on them and picking on them, complaining like a bunch of brats. And to your helpful 'Advise" I can't think of one Teenager, 12-19, who likes spending time with their parents. Now please why don't you and anyone else who feels the need to complain about 13 year olds get of the Internet and go get an education.

#228 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:01pm by fridalovesyou

I completely agree with #228. And for everyone saying "they can't relate" and "they don't understand," so what? They'll figure it out. They probably know what the urban dictionary is, or at least how to use google. So, think of it as a learning experience for them. They can't grow to understand anything if you block them out from everything they might not be able to relate to.

#229 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:31pm by Mardy_Bum

dude saphira is from eldest I'm waiting for brisingr to come to my library

#230 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:38pm by icanfloat12

You inconsiderate assholes, age doesn't mean anything.
#227, my mom is not lazy or pathetic for not "screening" what i do on the internet.
And if you didn't know most of the swear words by 13-14, i feel bad for you, you missed out on life.
I completely agree with what #228 said, 12-15 would rather spend time out with friends then with their parents.
None of you own anything, so stop acting like you do.

#232 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:10pm by F_M_S

u r a little bitch. at least she cares

#233 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:14pm by prospekt1

ummm well seriously? It's awkward swearing on a site that I now know 12 year olds read. So go away. Play neopets. or powerpets. or whatever. I don't care if you can or cannot relate to this, having you here is annoying. Parties don't ruin your life. Yes, it sucks that your dad's girlfriend can't even get your age right, but whatever.

#234 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:14pm by biggestfan

Oh, and BTW #228? teens are the ones in school. If you can't graduate hs because you're busy reading fml, then that's just PATHETIC.

Happy birthday you're not special

#241 - On 11/12/2009 at 12:06am by Dieromantic85

Can you people try to see the forest through the trees?

The OP is, more than likely, not terrible upset about the party decorations being the wrong number. What probably happened is she pointed out the mistake, felt disappointed for a while, and then got into the groove of the celebration and got over it.

BUT

Having a father who is too full of himself/too full of his girlfriend/whatever other excuse there is to remember his own child's age, is sad. For some people (obviously not some of the people here), family is important, and even the most amazing and bad-ass party will not make up for the lack of affection, attention, and love from a parent.

Or at least, this is my assumption. If the OP is really sad about the age mistake and nothing more... Well, then, I stand corrected. And by the way, I am 20 years old, and have not had a birthday party since I was 13, but I find a great deal of enjoyment when someone acknowledges my special day. I'd be a bit upset if someone guessed my age incorrectly as well.

#242 - On 11/12/2009 at 12:17am by Trebie

why are there so many bitchy adults complaining about there lives on this comment, and why are there people saying the girl who posted this FMl is a bad person, for god sakes people her dad forgot how old she was i think that is atleast a little Fml worthy,I mean seriously.

#243 - On 11/12/2009 at 12:33am by Cheyenne_Stone

I've never had a single birthday party in my whole life but I'm not saying FML. Looks like someone needs a WAAAAMBULANCE.

#252 - On 11/12/2009 at 2:20am by vynns

Just because your parents never cared enough to throw you a birthday party doesn't mean you have to take it out on some teenage. Why is everyone being such a douche bag to this kid? Birthday parties actually mean something to some people.

Happy 13th kid. Don't pay attention to everyone else, they're just a bunch of losers that have nothing else to do than harp on some young kid.

#254 - On 11/12/2009 at 2:38am by SekC

Oh, so you are another one of them who likes making assumptions about people because they are *obviously* butthurting over not having parties thrown for them and therefore feel a compulsive need to attack a hapless teenager for posting a FML that isn't really a FML. Throw your moralistic barbs at someone else if you want to play white knight for this kid. All I'm doing is telling OP to realise that there are worse things in life than having a birthday cake with one number wrong.

#277 - On 11/12/2009 at 11:03pm by vynns

Boo freaking hoo! Get over it.

#253 - On 11/12/2009 at 2:36am by riii

You're 13 fucking years old and complaining that your STEPMOTHER doesn't know how old you are. Get a fucking grip on reality, kid.

#255 - On 11/12/2009 at 4:52am by kaonashi

I'm 14 years old, and from what I remember. I've never really had a birthday celebration.

#258 - On 11/12/2009 at 5:17am by NdnStlkr

Without thinking about it or doing the math, how old is your mom, her man, your dad, his girlfriend, all your siblings, and you favorite aunt? Now do the math and I bet you get at least one wrong. Now factor in all the things adults have to remember, and you're lucky they remembered your birthday at all.

#263 - On 11/12/2009 at 12:12pm by jgrimaldi

are you kidding me? He/she is just a kid. What responsible parent fucks up her kid's birthday? Don't tell a child that the day they were born isn't worthy of remembering.

#305 - On 11/17/2009 at 12:18am by megdwhite

13 what are you doing on this site you're way too young

#265 - On 11/12/2009 at 2:09pm by erowlyn

to all of you using the anonymity of the internet to boost your self esteem, that's low. You guys are like in your 20's and 30's and your yelling at a little kid. really, thats pathetic.

#266 - On 11/12/2009 at 2:33pm by purplepandagirl

I think the OP needs to cut the girlfriend a little slack. Sure, I feel a little bad for you, but it's not like it's your stepmom or something. Or maybe she didn't realize it; my brother truly believes that I'm 10, even though I was born in '95... All in all, YDI. Happy Birthday, though, =)
To the tweens: I don't have a problem with them being on the site- I judge the individual, not the age group. How about you show them that your more mature and ignore their trolling, hm?

And one more thing. The OP is 13, plus a lot of little kids are reading this. I say we show some courtesy and not curse too obscenely?...

Don't let these fuck-tards bother you. The fact of the matter is that you got insulted. So I can see your motivation behind it. Your father should have known better on what year you were born.

#270 - On 11/12/2009 at 5:04pm by Psychomaze

lol? 12 isn't to young for this site when most jackasses on here act 6.

#272 - On 11/12/2009 at 5:57pm by NonExistance

Wow. I agree with a lot of the comments on here. For example
1). Grow up and be happy that she tried to do something nice for you instead of crying like a baby about it.
2). Maybe she thought you were 12 because you ACT like you're 12.
3). There isn't much difference between turning 12 and turning 13, talk to me when you turn 16.
4.) What the hell are preteens/middle schoolers doing on this site?! This material is extremely inappropriate for them, even if they don't realize it.

#275 - On 11/12/2009 at 7:38pm by horseluvr91

How are all you idiots not realizing that treating a child like this is making you all look like little children. What are you like 30? I'm assuming that you're a sad lonely pathetic creature eating your emotions on the couch in your own filth and taking a ten minute break from WOW to anonymously yell at little children. Otherwise I simply do not understand how your self esteem is so low that you feel justified in speaking to a kid that way.

that was to all negative comments toward the OP btw, yours was just particularly obnoxious.

#306 - On 11/17/2009 at 12:21am by megdwhite

Okay why do half of the people who commented on here even care if there are twelve-year-olds on this site? Why the fuck does it even matter? Just read the FMLs, have some fun, and then carry on! THERE IS NO FUCKING POINT IN ARGUING WHETHER OR NOT THERE SHOULD BE AN AGE RESTRICTION ON THIS SITE. If you think the OP sounds bratty, then say so and move on. If you think that it's sad that nobody remembers OP's age, then say so and move on. It's not that difficult! Haha, it's actually kind of funny how worked up some people get over such small and useless matters.

#276 - On 11/12/2009 at 10:27pm by honeydew4u

Why does everyone keep focusing on the dad's girlfriend? If any of you dumbasses read the OP's post you would note that the dad was involved in the mix up as well. Maybe the OP is upset that even the dad couldn't remember how old the OP is. Everyone of you who has posted is acting the same age as the person you're talking bad about. #276 wins. Who cares how old the OP is? Something bothered him and he posted about it. There is no age restriction to FML so who gives a damn, except for the Nazis out there that have nothing better to do.

#278 - On 11/12/2009 at 11:10pm by SekC

I would be pretty ticked.
How the frig does OP deserve this?

Imagine yourselves as 13. And someone gave you a happy 12th birthday balloon, cake and card or whatever.
I would be kinda disappointed for them to not know that.

After all, why throw a party that says the age A LOT all over if you don't know the age?

#280 - On 11/12/2009 at 11:21pm by Stevieebabyy

@189
I bet you know about EVERY teenybopper, just because you live with one
Stupid moron.

#282 - On 11/13/2009 at 2:27pm by Freed0mfr1es

whatevers, get over yourself kid. there are plenty of worse things in life. gosh, and 13 year olds are on this site now too?? shit...

#283 - On 11/13/2009 at 6:48pm by lazybjai

really ? poor you. jeeze i thought this would be funny.

#284 - On 11/13/2009 at 8:57pm by biteme19

You can't be 13. You spelled everything correctly.

#285 - On 11/13/2009 at 9:26pm by theropod

Oh no, she's one year off!! All is lost! You'll necer recover!!

/endsarcasm

#286 - On 11/13/2009 at 10:40pm by BabaBlackShirt

that happened to me but my dad had sent me a card that said, "happy 12 b-day i bet you can't wait another year to go to pg 13 movies heres two tickets for you and your mom". I turned 14 and the tickects were for g force.

#287 - On 11/13/2009 at 10:57pm by lalalandgirl123

Haha I love this FML. Time to post again.

"whatevers, get over yourself kid. there are plenty of worse things in life. gosh, and 13 year olds are on this site now too?? shit..." - You're an idiot. For a 13 year old, this is pretty bad. You act like 13 year olds have aids. Get a life and shut the fuck up.

"really ? poor you. jeeze i thought this would be funny." Not all FMLs are funny. Some people post them because they actually do feel bad about what happened. Die please.

"You can't be 13. You spelled everything correctly." Isn't it weird? Unlike most of the replies to this post, the OP was really good about the grammar.

"Oh no, she's one year off!! All is lost! You'll necer recover!!" See my first quote. You're an idiot too. 12 to 13? You can't tell me that wasn't big for you. Becoming a teenager was big for everyone

#289 - On 11/14/2009 at 12:36am by SekC

Haha and I love how you're so vehement about standing up for a kid you don't know.

In case you didn't notice, if one chooses to post anything on the Internet, there will be people who will say negative things about it. Some might be nicer about it, others will not. If you don't like or can't handle it, then don't come here.

If you truly want pity without the barbs, whine to sympathetic friends, not to the Internet.

#290 - On 11/14/2009 at 12:59am by vynns

Becoming a teenager was big for everyone? Excuse me, but seriously? It's not a big deal at all, I never understood why kids were so excited to be yet another year older.

#292 - On 11/14/2009 at 1:25am by CoffeeCovered

Be happy you even HAD a birthday party, I've never had a birthday party. Ever.

#291 - On 11/14/2009 at 1:20am by CoffeeCovered

God, deal with it you ungrateful whore. I don't even get presents, let a alone a party. Suck it up, at least they remembered

#293 - On 11/14/2009 at 6:30am by Alligraphy

Whats the difference between a 12 year old party and a 13 year old party?

#294 - On 11/14/2009 at 10:35am by bjamin95

i love how some people think they are so much better than a thirteen year old. It just shows how immature you are when you make fun of a kid. You think you're soooo much better than us, becuase the number of years you have lived is higher than ours? thats just pathetic, if all you have to brag about is you age...its sad, becuase at some point everyone has been this age or will be this age. you're on this site saying...oh grow up, this is a mature site, you're just too young. holy friggin crap...thats pathetic. Obviously the girl is going to be sad about it, when you were her age, you would have been sad no matter what. there is nothing she can do to change her age, litterally, NOTHING, she can't magically make herself ten years older, becuase you told her to grow up and appriciate whatever she got, because, honestly , don't you think your feelings would be a little bit hurt if your family forgot how old you were turning? I suggest the people that are bitiching out a THRITEEN year old, should get off this site, becuase obviously THEY are too immature and are just jelous of this litte girl.

#296 - On 11/14/2009 at 2:56pm by CaleighChi

oh come on people .
she 's thirteen for crying out loud .
it 's not like she 's turning 22 and expected to be over birthdays .
i know i would be bummed if i became a teenager and my parents got my age wrong ... cut the kid a little slack !

#297 - On 11/15/2009 at 2:30am by crazyoctober

shame, at least she tried

#298 - On 11/15/2009 at 8:50am by sj

Dude, stfu u whinny needy kid. I have never had a birthday party since my parents split, when I was 5.
Not even for my 16th, and my brother gets partys every year. Dont bitch and moan and take pity on yourself because you have it a lot better then a lot of us.

#301 - On 11/15/2009 at 3:27pm by hippyman933

Honestly, you're 13. shut up, no one cares.

#303 - On 11/17/2009 at 12:02am by boredbum14

Instead of making yourself seem like a cold hearted douche bag, you could realize that some people do care. Just because the OP is 13 doesn't mean that his FML isn't valid. I know if my parent's couldn't remember how old I was at that age I'd be pretty dissapointed too.

#307 - On 11/17/2009 at 2:25am by SekC

I'm so sorry Sweetheart.
Happy Belated Birthday.
On the plus side, at least they tried. Maybe she's just forgetful. I bet they both feel horrible about it.

#304 - On 11/17/2009 at 12:16am by megdwhite

Just be grateful that they remembered it. This isn't an FML, it's just a stuck up kid b!tch!ng

#308 - On 11/20/2009 at 5:30pm by loveyahun

That sucks, last year when I was 13 my dad was asked my age and said nine, and it wasn't like there was a discount for chidren under ten or something, also the day before my fourteenth birthday he asked "your turning 10 right?". it sucks so much, but honestly I would try to refrain from posting things like this on here becuase of th annoying people on here.

#309 - On 11/22/2009 at 2:26pm by vampiregal16rulz

Wow quit bitching. My birthday was just recently on the 18th of November. Yeah, I just turned 13 too. Also, I have never gotten thrown any party on any special occasion of mine, never gotten any presents, my mom lost her job about a year ago, and my dad is in very high debt (not his fault because he uses his credit card for important purposes ONLY, and lost his Full time job which makes it worse.) SO you think your life sucks, well screw you for being a spoiled bitch.
