Personally, I wouldn't break up with him because of it, but I'd be royally PISSED for quite some time. Yea it can be funny, but he should have made SURE that the first (and obviously only*lol*) time she's wearing it would be when it's only the two of them in a pool.
Even if I was around close friends I would still be so humiliated, embarrassed and pissed off. Don't know where you're from, but for me it's not normal or not a big deal if my friends see me completely naked...

Yes she would obviously wear it in public. Unless he has a pool, but hasn't had a chance to have the house alone to himself to invite her over to go in with him.
Well, the way the FML was worded: "bathing suit my boyfriend got me FOR my birthday to a family reunion.." kind of hints that he bought it for this purpose. On that note, it was a terribly mean joke if he knew she was going to be in front of family.

yeah, because if someone gives you a swim suit as a present, you'd ONLY wear it around that person and NEVER in public. If the BF meant it as a sexy "gift" for the two of them, he should have told her, or maybe given it to her right before he knew they would go swimming ALONE.
Come on. Anything that dissolves in water, especially clothing, is going to be very brittle, and have a much different texture than real clothes. How could you not notice?
It is meant as a method of getting back at ex girlfriends. It is a fantastic replacement for a real, marketable, bikini. You can't tell the difference. That's what it's made to do.

I'm calling fake. These were recently in the news because women's rights groups were protesting them. They're only sold in Germany and they only came out 2 weeks ago.
