Today, I realized my new kitten is the spawn of the devil. It decided to go get itself stuck in a tree. I tried to climb up to rescue it. But it kept climbing higher. I was about to grab the cat when I fell. The cat then jumped down and started purring. FML

Amazing cat! Is this a FML? I'm not sure

#1 - On 07/14/2009 at 6:11am by iSlowPwnz

Haha it shouldn't be.

#11 - On 07/14/2009 at 6:33am by mikakarie

Amazing kitten indeed. But really? Who the hell honestly thinks that cats get stuck in trees? Have you ever seen a dead cat in a tree because they were stuck? No. Cats don't go to places they can't get out from. So YDI for not knowing that cats aren't stupid creatures.

#45 - On 07/14/2009 at 9:05am by FMLenV

Haha, so true #1.

OP: YDI for referring to a living, breathing being as "it." This is a clear reflection of your messed up attitude towards this epic cat.

#53 - On 07/14/2009 at 9:37am by realggirl

I don't know about that one.... When I lived with my best friend in a basement apartment, we had just gotten a cat... well, I came home to visit my family for the weekend and my best friend was at the apartment. The next morning, she calls me telling me she couldn't find Whiskey (our cat). She said she could hear her purring, but couldn't find her ANYWHERE. She was even shaking the treats box to get her to come out from hiding cause that always gets her, but she wouldn't. She asked me to come back with a screwdriver (we didn't have any at our place at the time) because she thought she was stuck in the wall. I get back, unscrew something off the wall, and she was in there. To this day we couldn't figure out how she got in there... But she definitely couldn't find her way out!

#58 - On 07/14/2009 at 10:14am by UllNeverKnow

Holy shit, that sounds like something out of The Black Cat. Your lucky you hadn't also hidden a dead body in the wall recently ...

You don't let your goddamn new pet out of the house, or near open doors/windows.

#114 - On 07/14/2009 at 9:54pm by Jessaly

#59, haha, seriously tell me about it!!! We were so confused as to how she got in there, she wasn't even a kitten so it's not like she was small and could find the smallest little hole to get in from... Ah well, what can you do! :) We found her!

#121 - On 07/15/2009 at 1:30am by UllNeverKnow

cats suck. ydi for having a cat. also, why try to get it down. if it dies in the tree, obviously its dumb as shit

Bellaellaella, you're super beautiful haha :P
And also, on topic, cats don't get stuck in trees...

yea rly

#135 - On 07/18/2009 at 6:55pm by Gina_1379

omg#58 UllNeverKnow, the exact same thing happened to my cat Whiskey (same name except a boy cat)
we heard him meowing but couldn't figure out where he was, we shook the treats still no cat, then i got a screwdriver and took off part of the wall and there he was. except i knew how he got there, i left the door to the storage room in the basement open, he somehow made his way up stairs from the crawlspace in the ceiling/floor by climping on the shelf in the storage room. weird cat yah think he'd figure out to go back the same way he came in but noooo XD

If you can't deal with kittens being the spawn of the devil you shouldn't have gotten one.
Seriously, I love cats, but my kitten wakes me up at 6 in the morning by attacking my face.
Still, though, FYL.
But I bet the kitty was cute, so it's okay.

Cats can climb. Cats can jump. Cats are natural gymnasts. You are not.

fortunately for you OP, kittens are very easy to fuck with and they generally don't have very much common sense.

Weird.

Boredworker thinks that you have just been pwnd by your tiny kitty. How does that make you feel?

#18 - On 07/14/2009 at 7:08am by boredworker

Dont follow a cat, of which is an animal with full time 4 paw drive, up a tree... It never works out well.

#19 - On 07/14/2009 at 7:10am by MagnaV30

Cats could purr out of pain, too. Perhaps it purred because it got hurt when it landed? This is probably more FML for the kitten, than for you.

lol do they have dog too?

#124 - On 07/15/2009 at 5:56am by jaaxx

Most cats can climb down a tree just as easily as they can climb up. Remember this for future reference (:

#22 - On 07/14/2009 at 7:18am by MadeOfAwesome

Stick to the dogs, cats are worthless, selfish, deceiving, cute and furry little animals.

#23 - On 07/14/2009 at 7:21am by fenrisulfr

Dogs look up to you
Cats look down on you
Pigs look you straight in the eye.

Problem solved! Buy a pig. :)
At least you won't have to worry about it climbing trees....

#46 - On 07/14/2009 at 9:09am by jenkins56

At least give credit where credit is due #46...

"I like pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals." - Winston Churchill.

Ahahahahah your cat was just testing you!
It had to make sure you are worthy.

#26 - On 07/14/2009 at 7:29am by WaterMist

Actually, some cats who are very attached to their owner(s) tend to go to them and purr when they notice their owners aren't feeling well. They do it to relieve stress. I'm not entirely sure this is what happened in this case, since you haven't known each other for very long, but..

#27 - On 07/14/2009 at 7:31am by Sophie497

LOL. Smart kitty.

#28 - On 07/14/2009 at 7:47am by oopsie_daisy8446

Bahahaha O.o

#30 - On 07/14/2009 at 7:50am by irrelevantxx

perhaps purring is a sign that despite your failed attempt to rescue said cat (and cats REMEMBER failure!) it DID appreciate your effort.

But seriously, cats have BIGGER EGOS than just about anything. heh

#31 - On 07/14/2009 at 7:52am by youaresofucked

:)

#32 - On 07/14/2009 at 7:56am by atrialfib29

That's what kittens do, especially if you let them outside.

#33 - On 07/14/2009 at 7:57am by IHaveVertigo

Dude, if a cat can climb up, it can climb down. Give it time and leave it alone next time! It'll come down eventually. Without you killing yourself.

#34 - On 07/14/2009 at 8:05am by poopiedolphin

Never try to get a cat out of a tree, it can do it just fine by itself. You fell out of a tree because your a jack ass, the cat saw, jumped down, and started purring because that's how cats make each other feel better. Yeah, your cat's a real ass hole.

#35 - On 07/14/2009 at 8:13am by snowsock

never go after a cat in a tree. they always climb down

#36 - On 07/14/2009 at 8:27am by MIKENYC

Be arsed walking a dog in the cold rain! Much more responsibility. Cats about their busines and sit on your lap, which is rather stress relieving.

#43 - On 07/14/2009 at 8:53am by Alexgoesfml

Please don't get a pet if you don't know anything about how it will behave.

#38 - On 07/14/2009 at 8:37am by lettertjes

You deserve it for bringing it outside!!

#39 - On 07/14/2009 at 8:39am by tamoomoo

What? A cat is more or less SUPPOSED to be outside. How could it be deserved in that case? Nutjob?

#60 - On 07/14/2009 at 10:21am by lun8423

Actually, you're supposed to keep a new kitten inside for at least two months.

#99 - On 07/14/2009 at 4:10pm by scorpiogirl666

dogs are like having children, they're too dependent. unlike cats which are just as loyal, are one of the most independent animals on the planet

#41 - On 07/14/2009 at 8:45am by Colby_Colbert

that sucks for you, get rid of it the kitten...It's my general belief that cats are evil anyway

#47 - On 07/14/2009 at 9:18am by adwell90

yeah cats are mean & evil

#48 - On 07/14/2009 at 9:18am by adwell90

like THAT'S never happened ever before! not that saying it was fun, but, c'mon!

#55 - On 07/14/2009 at 9:43am by Qup

yes, cats get feline leukemia, commonly known as "kitty AIDS".
if you've never owned a cat before, it would behoove you you to get a cat care book or find a good website. but get your cat to the vet for it's shots. my best cat advice is: clean the box twice per day. without fail.

#56 - On 07/14/2009 at 9:54am by Qup

Actually, Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is much different from Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). FeLV causes cancer and FIV acts very similarly to HIV. Get your facts straight.

#82 - On 07/14/2009 at 12:24pm by harmony88

Cats are EVIL. Evil little creatures. My aunt has a teacup kitten, and even though it the absolute most adorable thing I have ever seen, it still manages to drive me crazy. It thinks it's entitled to everything. XD including clawing my face if I don't wake up at an appropriate hour for her. just like kids, they may be cute, but they're rotten, maniacal little creatures. but we still love 'em :D

#57 - On 07/14/2009 at 9:58am by SusanaSaysRawrxD

YDI because eventually that beast of a pet is going to have to eat, WTH you climbing trees for!

#62 - On 07/14/2009 at 10:27am by ehon82

Awsome! At least you have a cat. My mom doesn't like cats. She says they're giant rats. So I can't get one. FYL but you should be more grateful.

#63 - On 07/14/2009 at 10:30am by kira822

Oh wow. FYL, but you should be more responsible.

#64 - On 07/14/2009 at 10:33am by RainbowCookie

1) this isn't a fml
2) your kitten isn't the spawn of the devil-it wuz just playing around-that's wut they do.

#65 - On 07/14/2009 at 10:41am by darkmis1

I clicked agree because you fell while trying to help the kitten, but I also clicked YDI because you call the kitten "spawn of the devil" for climbing a tree, which is just what cats do. Many people don't realize this, but cats don't get stuck as often as you think. Yes they have a harder time climbing down than up, but they're not as helpless as we think. Especially if they're still climbing around, like your kitten - that means they're not done, they're fine. Remember, they can drop and land on their feet, unlike us. So next time your kitten is playing around in a tree, leave him alone for a while.

#66 - On 07/14/2009 at 10:49am by intotheblue

How is your cat the devil? Because it didn't catch you when you fell? What did you expect it to do?

#67 - On 07/14/2009 at 10:51am by lil_miz_liz09

Keep him inside then

Hahahahahaha

#74 - On 07/14/2009 at 11:45am by painislife

hahahahahahah, "spawn of the devil" that automatically makes it a funny FML.

#75 - On 07/14/2009 at 11:47am by brainwascht

Ummm, maybe she thought you were playing and when you fell, it might've wanted to comfort you.... how does that make it the spawn of the devil???? This isn't an fml.

#77 - On 07/14/2009 at 11:56am by RainnDrop

I always preferred dogs over cats. cats attitude is wrong.

#78 - On 07/14/2009 at 11:56am by MadaFaka

"Today, I realized my new kitten is the spawn of the devil." LMAO X3

#79 - On 07/14/2009 at 11:59am by xxXChiiXxx

Most housecats are the spawn of devil. This isn't anything new.

#81 - On 07/14/2009 at 12:23pm by thugbert

Ok, it’s a cat.
Cats do not get “stuck” in trees.
They can climb quite well as they have nice sharp claws and they can jump quite high.
YDI for thinking the thing was stuck.

#83 - On 07/14/2009 at 12:36pm by SarlaccBits

#83, just because cats can climb well doesn't mean they can't get stuck. It's easier to climb up something than to climb down, especially when you climb up high enough that just jumping would break something, even for a cat. Two of our cats have climbed trees that were high enough that they got stuck and stayed there for hours, meowing, not coming down even though it was obvious they wanted to. We had to go up on ladders and get them, because they refused to move otherwise.

#89 - On 07/14/2009 at 1:14pm by kittengrl39

I do know this... I own a cat... two actually... for the last nine years.

#110 - On 07/14/2009 at 7:01pm by SarlaccBits

Kittens are the cutest bestest things ever! YDI for mistakenly thinking the kitten was "stuck."

It's all about preference. Yeah cats will throw up and shed everywhere so you have to be willing to deal with that. And they all have different personalities, just like humans. So you may get a spawn of the devil, lol. But I tend to prefer cats because they such strong personalities and they're not just your slave like dogs are. I've had some super sweet cats.

#84 - On 07/14/2009 at 12:47pm by dramakat11

Welcome to having cats! lol

#85 - On 07/14/2009 at 12:55pm by midwestjerk

You shouldn't let your new cat outside anyway. Especially in California. There are a number of things that can easily eat it. F it's life for getting such a stupid petowner.

#87 - On 07/14/2009 at 1:00pm by itypedformiles

I've always let my cats live outside...for over seven years and nothing's happened. And I live on a ranch in Cali where there are coyotes. It doesn't mean the she's stupid...

#90 - On 07/14/2009 at 1:31pm by RainnDrop

To be hones - I believe it is better to let her the freedom and life (and let nature do whats nature) - then keeping her imprisoned in your house for all her life.

#93 - On 07/14/2009 at 2:42pm by Agarwel

they always land on their feet...always

#88 - On 07/14/2009 at 1:11pm by shirvon100

False, cats do not always land on their feet. Not always do they have enough time to land on their feet. Take a cat upside down drop it from the couch level...cat landed on its back.

#103 - On 07/14/2009 at 5:17pm by RainbowxKitty

lol cats are always like that =P Don't worry you'll get used to it.

#91 - On 07/14/2009 at 1:49pm by CFR

thats just the way cats are! got to love em right?!

#92 - On 07/14/2009 at 2:02pm by MRS_JACOB_BLACK

Guess you've gotta have some sort of rule of thumb with tree-climbing kitties. Perhaps just leave him/her up there for a while, unless they seem really distraught or don't show any signs of coming down.

#94 - On 07/14/2009 at 2:58pm by Sharrakor

your kitten isnt the spawn of the devil she was just being a kitten, they explore and purr alot what did you expect. if you dont want your kitten climbing tree's make her an indoor cat, keep her inside, outdoor cats dont live as long as indoor cats

#95 - On 07/14/2009 at 3:05pm by XanimalloverX

hehe bad kitty

#97 - On 07/14/2009 at 3:46pm by Laxguitar37

What the hell does that have to with anything???? They SHOULD be let outside.

#104 - On 07/14/2009 at 5:32pm by RainnDrop

thats what you get for owning one of those filthy animals

#98 - On 07/14/2009 at 4:01pm by sentient

Cats are actually known for their cleanliness.

#105 - On 07/14/2009 at 5:34pm by Sharrakor

Cats do get stuck places, but typically only an adult cat will be stuck in a tree - kittens can climb higher and still get down because of their lower weight. Even then its extremely rare for a cat to get stuck in a tree, as opposed to just wanting to stay up there

#100 - On 07/14/2009 at 4:28pm by cxal

fuck cats.

#101 - On 07/14/2009 at 4:30pm by DatGurl

"it" is not the spawn of the devil because "it" climbed up a tree, you moron

and aww cats are so awesome

#102 - On 07/14/2009 at 4:41pm by papertigers

You bonehead! Cats can climb down from trees just as well as they can climb up them. If you really feel a need to get your cat out of a tree, you can either wait for it to get hungry and come down, or go buy pellet gun and practice your marksmanship.

#106 - On 07/14/2009 at 5:41pm by Flanker

that is a awesome cat.

#117 - On 07/15/2009 at 12:35am by saxxy_beast

Oh man, I am sorry you got hurt, but yes, cats really can get down from pretty much anywhere if they're stuck longer than they decide they want to be... and it's not just your cat. Cats as a species are the spawn of the devil. I love 'em for it, God help me, but they are little hellions.

#118 - On 07/15/2009 at 12:35am by suzieq57

I hate cats i threw a potato chip in the to air catch it in my mouth and it lept over me and ate it. FML. It probly would be a good lolcat too

#119 - On 07/15/2009 at 12:36am by TheLoneWolf87

Cat climbs up a tree then I say fuck it. The piece of shit will come down when it's ready, or hungry...

#120 - On 07/15/2009 at 12:36am by tonyspag

Stupid cat LOL but I wouldn't have climbed after it I would have throw somthing at it. They have nine lives so it wouldn't matter.

#122 - On 07/15/2009 at 1:46am by shanedawsonfan

LOL at #119 my cat ate a piece of vegemite on toast i left on a plate :P and sorry about your cat, OP

#126 - On 07/16/2009 at 2:35am by allymate

My kitten walks into chairs and thinks hes a bird. He copies the bird noises and tries to fly by jumping out of a tree.

Haha that is a massive fail.

YDI for not starting another way... You should hav started with the treat bag, rattle it and the cat would hav jumped rite down... then you wouldnt hav gotten hurt.

This is weird, my cat purrs randomly too, but I just found out from a show on discovory channel that they do that when they are scared because it calms them down, and makes them happy
