lol, the Internet, cant live with it, cant live without it
This comment has been moderated.
oo that sounds like fun. more fun than a computer game!
heheheh sorry dude. dont do that no more
Haha dumbass that's why you read comments before you download pirated games
search for malware bytes anti-malware, download it and it can save your life.
YDI. You shouldn't download games off of the internet.
I doubt anybody is gonna give a shit. YDI to yourself if you don't want to get a virus stop downloading pirated stuff, get a job, and stop being a cheap ass.
lol I moderated this one.
Don't download off the Internet~
Sucks for you.
Hope it was a good game. :P
Entire morning fo 600 mb ? o. o lame ...
my internet -> 900 mb movie = not even 30 minutes : P
... Maybe that's the game?
YDI and FYComputersLife.
you fail. what're you using... dial-up? l2 virus scan before opening!
OP never said he pirated retards.
Sucks for you though that's happened to
me before.
Im with 17. Do you have dial up?? Get a fucking antivirus
um....try a program called ESET, you can go pretty much ANYWHERE and will be protected. I have had it for a year, and not even the hint of a virus!
1. sucky computer
2. U have no life
3. U r an idiot
YDI!!!!!!!!!!
next time use pirate bay. What game? and #27 sucks. He can't spell.
What do you mean, spent the entire morning downloading? It's not like you have to sit there and watch it.
Also, learn to check your downloads and get an antivirus program. They're free, you know.
Dude get a life. If it weren't for the game you wouldn't be dealing with that virus.
You think that's bad? I waited 3 days for "Call of Duty WaW" to download. Virus.
600 MB game? Most games I have are at least in the 3 or 4 GB range....
And I'm agreeing with #10, CHECK THE COMMENTS.
Or, just use Demonoid
=p
YDI.
#35 - On 06/13/2009 at 6:27pm by Me27
LMAO! Thats what happen when u download crap off of the computer. You have to be careful of what you download. So idk if it's really your fault butbin a way you deserved it for downloading it.
#36 - On 06/13/2009 at 6:29pm by hcolovex0x
YDI for patronizing torrent downloads.
Why download a compute game? It was obviously a virus.
what does "YDI" mean?
And u can never trust games off of the internet
#39 - On 06/13/2009 at 6:38pm by imalovelover
dude try looking the game up on the internet if its safe before you download it...
always check the comments....you dont deserve it for downloading shit off the internet cause its never worth the 60 bucks for the game anyways but you do deserve it for not checking the comments
#42 - On 06/13/2009 at 6:40pm by fuckthiscity
Everyone calling him a pirate, it's probably one of those free online games like Adventure Quest or whatever.
Either way, yea, that sucks. Good luck getting rid of it.
#39 YDI= you deserved it
anyway, most of the games i play r free from the internet, u just got unlucky.
OP & #31 - You guys suck
#25 - Do you think maybe the reason ESET doesn't find infections is that... it's not working?
I personally download torrents all the time; not because I'm cheap, but because it's just stupid to pay for something you can get a COPY of for FREE. It's not like you stole the game and it's no longer there. I mean, sure, you cut the company's profit from $9,999,999 to $9,999,939, but it didn't really cost them a penny more.
#44 thanks, that helps
#46 - On 06/13/2009 at 6:42pm by imalovelover
you dumbfuck; that's why you don't download "games" from the INTERENT
u should really get some type of software that protects ur computer from viruses!
How did this get on FML? It wasn't even funny and it's not like you spent your entire morning downloading it unless you were anxiously watching the download bar for hours.
has anyone considered how the hell he was able to post this? if you have a 600 MB virus on your computer...how is FML working? sounds fake to me..
but could be real if you're doing it on a different computer, eitherway..this FML is hilarious
Try reading comments on the torrent next time, and scanning it for viruses.
Wanna keep playing computer games? The don't fucking steal them.
Ouch Dude I know how you feel bittorrents does that to you, know your sources first is what I always do old luck with your computer
Lol its funny to read the comments, some people saying "YDI" for downloading from the internet, but im sure that 90% here have downloaded a game off the internet, and some torrents dont have comments or whatever, i would be pretty pissed if that happened to me anyway FYL.
Something makes me want to guess that it was Sims 3 :]
Still, FYL.
Also to those who think he wasn't pirating, why the hell would he be getting a free game from a shady source; one that would be a virus. Also, a virus protector would never save you AFTER you ran the executable, to all the fuckwings telling him to get better anti-virus. Just download off Steam or buy them, chances are a 600 mb game is old enough to be fairly cheap, anyway.
if it took you all night to download less than a gig than your life is F'd
#58 - On 06/13/2009 at 6:59pm by ifv6
Well YDI for downloading a game off the internet.
same thing happened to mee lol.
(sims 3,,...grr)
thats happened to me before! it sucked!
#26 ESET is a company, you can't download a company. You mean NOD32, which is indeed very effective. One of the best, even.
#66 - On 06/13/2009 at 7:13pm by arienh4
YDI for not buying the game, like an honest citizen :p
1. your computer sucks, 2. you torrented it or pirated it thats just asking for trouble those are riddled with viruses, 3. You deserve it due to reason 1. and 2.
Piracy + karma = viruses. >XD YDI
You don't download computer games off the Internet dumbass!
Wtf... What in the world was it?
#72 - On 06/13/2009 at 7:27pm by rxxk
...umm, system restore? or... back-up HDD? or... just reinstall windows in like 20min?
So you have nothing to do during the day, and nothing to do all night. NERD.
YDI for downloading pirated computer games.
Lol if he got a mac the game wouldn't work anyway, it's like payin $1000 extra for somethin that runs half the programmes a pc does...
OP YDI for not at least scanning the download before installing.
YDI for not even knowing what you download.
LOL that sucks but YDI. If it's not from a reliable source, it most likely has viruses. For future reference :P
Way slow ISP if it took all morning.
I've never torrented anything and even I know to check the comments before even trying to download.
@18... It depends on the seeds more than the speed of your internet
What a moron. I have 600GB of downloaded games, music, and software and have NEVER not ONCE gotten a virus. You must be a fucking moron like most of the commenters here if you can't even download something right. YDI. Fuck.
#85 - On 06/13/2009 at 7:59pm by Rota
The internet is a tricky place. YOU should only download trusted sites, but that's hard sometimes.
YDI you're a dumbass. First you download a 600 MB virus. Then you don't have antivirus protection good enough to find everything soon as you finish the download.
And if it was zipped folder then you're even dumber to get the files for a virus because you can't tell game files from virus files.
YDI.
Buy the game next time.
#90 - On 06/13/2009 at 8:06pm by SP63
You should have size checked that shit.
And everyone saying get a Mac: He wouldn't be able to play legitimate games if he had one, lol.
Dude, this isnt an FML, this is like a confession.... How do we know the game you downloaded wasnt pirated, you can get a virus from practically any pirated game nowadays, so... if I were you I'd think about .....NOT PIRATING.
think about it.....
If you're going to DL something, make sure it's a trustworthy site/company to DL from, such as steam, and check the comments. If it's a pirated game, YDI completely. Even if not, YDI for not checking comments and feedback on it.
I'm assuming you were illegaly downloading. So YDI!
#2 no thats girls, you cant live with em and you cant live without em..
Only a nerd would say that
Well. If you're downloading you should check out the comments. And have you ever heard of antivirus? Try scanning things before you run them. Your computer does nothing if you don't ask it to do it.
#96 - On 06/13/2009 at 8:21pm by hele
Lol 41, so you can't play any games at all?
And anyways, wtf sort of game is only 600 MB? Why is everyone giving this person crap for downloading illegally? Dude get on a better tracker, check the comments.
YDI for downloading things.
Buy your games and that won't happen, you stupid thieving asshole. :)
I don't get the people telling you to get a life because you downloaded a game to pass a little time.
Isn't that exactly what they're doing on FML? Passing time?
Plus all the people telling you to stop pirating have probably watched a tv show online.
Which is essentially, the same thing.
So, yeah, you kind of deserve it for not scanning it/checking sources etc.
But...these guys are just douchebags.
To those suggesting gaming on other operating systems - good luck!
n00b for no anti malware programs.
Dumbasses talking about how slow his connection is have obviously never used torrents before.
Awesome story. Tell it again!
Hey, I moderated this one!
All morning for a 600 MB game? Are you running dial up?
YDI for not having a good computer security suite if you plan on downloading shit from the internet. YDI for being too cheap to go buy the damn game. If it's not available in CD ROM form, YDI for downloading a large, multi-filed program that could easily contain malware without having a good security suite.
I recommend Kaspersky security suite, it's retard proof. Won't let you install anything that contains so much as a shred of malware, spyware, trojan, virus, etc, etc. It's expensive as hell but it really is worth it because you won't be getting any viruses or buying new computers to replace an infected one. Oh yeah I also recommend not being such a dumbass.
BTW, what sort of dipshit thinks they're downloading a game that's only 600 MB?
People like you shouldn't even be allowed to own a computer.
And macs get viruses too retards.
YDI for running an OS that's vulnerable to viruses.
i lol at most of these comments telling him he's an asshole for being a pirate... what most people don't understand is that under todays piracy laws that you cannot change the type of media.. aka transferring music from cd to computer... that is illegal. LOL
What the hell kind of a virus is 600mb? thats huge!
i agree with #11, it saved my computer once. i had an extremely bad virus and it got rid of with with one scan and computer restart.
btw, for reference, the virus isn't 600mbs, it's a couple of KBS at best
YDI for a few reasons:
1) Being a cheap piece of crap stealing games off torrents.
2) Also being lazy enough not to read the comments (people usually say something if it's a virus).
3) Also also being too stupid to check the file with something like avast before you open it (especially if no one had commented it yet).
#108: There's a bit of a difference between someone downloading a game without paying for it and me putting a CD I paid for on my iPod, even if they're both technically illegal. And, I'm pretty sure you're wrong about that anyway.
try not to bunch everyone in the same group, some don't listen to music, such as me, so no music piracy, and some don't watch tv on comp, thats what tivo is for if you miss a show, so please don't be so general in your statements but i do agree people should stop and think because almost everyone has pirated something before either bootleg or torrents
lawl @ everyone saying YDI for 'pirating'. Who *doesn't* use torrents? xD
That's shifty. Try running anti-virus software.
linux doesn't run all games even with wine and mac is basically social suicide in the computer gaming world ...go with alienware =) much better and more bang for your buck, and before people start attacking me over what people assume is not a pc alienware is dell so it is a pc it runs windows i hate questions about what it runs
@ 17
There was no game. It was JUST a virus, nothing else. They disguised the virus as a game retard.
And why does everyone imediatly think the OP is a pirater? Hello? Ever heard of Wolf Quest? You can ONLY download that off the internet and it is compltly free of charge.
AND FYL!!!
not even wolf quest but many popular online games, such as maple story, Gunz, runes of magic etc. and obviously he pirated it or torrented it because no normal legit site would put a virus in there unless they want to get assaulted by every angry parent ever who's kid downloads games at random
Lol stinks for you, only download stuff that has comments saying its clean, or get an antivirus.
@119, computer brand makes no difference, only OS. And alienware stuff is super overpriced, i could probably build a similar computer for half the price they charge.
Never download anything like that. You should have known, but FYL. if you have a virus how are you on the internet?
meh custom alienware is still fun anyway =P who cares if its overpriced, so is mac, besides its a gaming computer so far i have a shitload of games and it runs no problem
Not a fucken FML YDI for not getting one of the HUNDREDS of virus protecteds!
how could you not know it was a virus? lrn2internets, OP
wow your virus protection must either be non existent or suck ass
people who are talking about macs...shut up
i've got one and even though you can download PC games on it (bootcamp)
its a pain in the ass. Better off with a PC if you're a gamer
My bf uses torrents all the time.hasnt gotten a virus yet
virus check brainiac.
YDI
Guys, it could be a free game. There are many free games on the internet that aren't pirated
600 mb is easy to fight just trace wat its infected and delete it all u idiot
Haha wow.... I laughed lol
Moron, there aren't any games that are 600 Megs anymore.
Well I guess the companies are getting smarter:)
RI
What have we learned today?
get a mac. every good game that isn`t a shooter is made for mac. and almost all good shooters are also made for xbox360 (and i think you losers can live without counterstrike
YDI for having a Piece of Crap(PC) and for pirating. dumbfuck.
P.S. cool, i moderated this one! i voted yes.
Even though I hate that people find it necessary to put viruses in downloads, YDI for not paying attention
I will spend all night laughing at your stupidity.
what u get for trying 2 get a free game
(at least i assume u didn't pay for it from steam as it was a virus but if u did pay the FYI)
#143 - On 06/14/2009 at 12:00am by DrunkenCanadian7
One Man. One 600mb virus. Only one can win. Michael Bay's: The Download. Coming Soon to Theaters!
Ya, definetly get a mac! They are immune to all viruses, so you never have to worry! I've downloaded many games off the Internet and never had a single problem with my mac.
That's why they pay you the big money smartass...
YDI for not checking the comments or the uploaders rep. Also, most games i've d/l have been at least 1gb, for the last year or two
@140: Why pay so much more for a new computer just to lower the chances of getting a virus? It'd make more sense to just remove the virus or reinstall windows, and know what you download. Not to mention you could just install OS X on the current computer. And FPS games on consoles are crap compared to on PC.
@145: Your an idiot!
Dude, that's why you should scan a file at like VirusTotal or something after you download it so you don't end up installing a virus...but it's a terrible nightmare and I hope your computer is doing well.
#45, it'll only go down from "$9,999,999 to $9,999,939" if only ONE person pirates it. Guess what? Hundreds if not thousands of people pirates games.
#97, 106 - all the games I play are < 20 MB. if people would stick to playing decent games like nethack and angband the world would be a better place.
you fail!
#153 - On 06/14/2009 at 12:39am by didi666
It may not be a virus. Your antivirus may say it is if it the actual program is bundled with illegal modifiers like keygens, cracks and game patches. These stuffs are NOT harmful. And nobody's ever written a virus bigger than 10mb. That 600mb thing is impossible.
Ouch. Make sure to search 'how to remove _____" I had to do this all the time on my old computer, so I feel ya, bro.
All morning for 600 mb? What the hell system/internet provider are you using? That's pathetic.
LOLL !
#158 - On 06/14/2009 at 12:48am by crazieeli
Maybe you shouldn't be illegally downloadin gamea
#13. I totally agree with you. Dude is a total cheap ass. Buy the freakin game cheapskate.
#144. Macs suck ass. Build your own comp noob.
What the hell? How does this happen nowadays?
Learn2Internet
Haha YDI for using Limewire or the like instead of Bittorrent.
Dumbass's, it doesn't have to be a pirated game if he downlaoded it. You assholes just want a reason to critisize, he could of downloaded a free legal game, or he could of actually paid for one.
164:
if it's a giant virus... chances are it wasn't a legal download.
These losers crying about him downloading off the internet sound worse than vegetarian tree huggers
Im sorry to hear that, next time use a virus scan or somthing.with the intenet now a days anything can have a virus in it espacally that lame runescape so don't play it.
I would expect a loser, such as yourself, to have a quicker internet connection. I guess you'll have to masturbate to internet porn at the public library now, being that you broke your computer.
LOL there is go virus like 600mb, u just download shitty thing, download from more safe place.
There's no such thing as a 600m virus.
BTW people Norton or Macafee is NOT protection...bloatware...
YDI!! thats called piracy! karma is a bitch :p buy mac no virus ;-)
Haha you idiot. Buy Prevx, it's the best anti-virus software ever. Unlike other software that catches the virus while it's taking over your computer, Prevx stops it completely.
lmao!!
next time try looking at the comments, and checking the rating.
To all those who say '600mb for a video gamer? your a dumbass!' OBVIOUSLY you have never played older games. I can think of plenty off the top of my head that are 600mb and under. It's called old games, often which you can't BUY anymore. Doom, Duke Nukem 3d , Wolfenstein, Dungeon Hack , Diablo 1, Strife, Age of Empires are example of small games, some may still be purchasable. (oh and not to mention all the indie games that are made nowadays that are small but still fun) jackasses
To all those who say 'get a mac, they don't get viruses!' THATS BECAUSE such a small percentage of the market uses them. Why waste time coding something to steal info / advertise at you or wreak havoc on a system if it only makes up a small share of the computers out there. If someone were to write a devastating virus just for the sole purpose of screwing with MAC. I'd laugh my ass off.
What kinda slow ass computer you got if it takes that long to download 600 megs?
Fuckinh tick fuchers, everybody downloads, next time he just needs to careful thats it, fight gainst virus is interesting and fun. Fuck for buy games.
how the hell does he deserve that?
@11 (parkbench): stop being such a bitch. every FML you comment on you're making up some dumbass reason to click YDI. If you wanna be a jerk, go be one to people in person, instead of just being one to people online -.-
@148
You can't to my knowledge install OSX on anything but an Apple made computer, and if you can it's just as illegal as pirating. 600mb as said is plausible I have played many of the great free games and most were in the 500mb to 1gb range. I have no cares as to what I do with my computer and have never had any virus. Torrent=virus=False. Macs are better in every way now that you have Boot Camp. With Boot Camp if you get infected you can wipe Windows and reinstall with no problems. Some virus on got on a Windows computer are not that forgiving. With a Mac you turn it off start in OSX and bypass everything infected so there are no problems.
Step 1: download and install any of the plethora of free bit torrent software
Step 2: go to thepiratebay.org and find a torrent of the game you want
Step 3: confirm that the game is legit through the torrent's comments and tags.
Step 4: stop being an idiot
#185 - On 06/14/2009 at 4:07am by Ra
moral of the story: pirating may not be your forte.
didn't you pick up the fact that it was a virus when it said 600mgb?
#187 - On 06/14/2009 at 5:37am by cinderella_smile
Anti-Virus exists
Linux exists
Intelligence exists.
If you're intelligent, you know that Linux and gaming don't like to mix.
And mister #183, you can install a hacked OSX onto any x86 PC if you genuinely know what you're doing.
Here's the skinny. When you're pirating, check out what you're actually letting yourself in for before you download it. Mac is no better than PC, it's just shinier and more expensive. The two camps provide roughly similar levels of capability - and if you say otherwise, congratulations, you've been brainwashed by their advertising. Likewise, Linux is not the "solution" to all Windows problems as you'll hit quite a few roadblocks getting anything to work unless you're genuinely clued in, and if you think otherwise, again, you've been brainwashed.
Think for yourselves, people. Don't trust what anyone says, actually go out, try them all out before you form your opinion.
Thankyou for your time, and for reading my WALL OF TEXT.
How the hell do you download a 600 MB virus? Fake. How did this even make it past moderation?
#41 is a d bag, macs blow they're unreliable and shitty you can't customize them so you have to pay a fuckload just so that you can do something that you can do with a $400 pc. just because mac has a bunch of retarded commercials where the only selling point against the pc is that they don't get viruses and don't crash. The only reason that a mac doesn't get viruses is that no one in their right mind owns a mac, so no one takes the time to put any malware out for it and now that all you douche bags are falling for their marketing scheme guess what. there's going to be viruses, and it's going to be worse because you have a mac, and macs can't deal with them because of the major design flaws.
Everyone gives Macs so much shit, and yet they're all surprised when their PCs come down with viruses and all us Mac people are laughing at you. I've been a Mac person since 1994, when I was allowed to use my first computer, and none of them have ever gotten any viruses (or crashed, or been unreliable, or whatever). And a couple of them were customized. But go on and get your panties in a twist, it's good for you.
To the OP: that wouldn't have happened if you 1) had a Mac (hehe), 2) didn't download it illegally, dumbass. YDI.
Haha you fucking retard, if you gonna download shit make sure you do it properly stupid noob, I hope that virus wipes your HDD lmao!!
It's stories like these that make me glad that I have a Mac ^_^
Safe mode boot + system restore = spending the entire night fighting the virus?
Meh, if you say so.
ah dude you probs got the game and the virus. no virus wood be 600mb or else it wood be doing all sorts of funny stuff lol
Just scroll up and read #140's post. That's funny enough for me. I'm sure the rest of the public can find the flaw in his statement.
Your entitled to your opinion, but if your opinion sucks, nobody cares and you'll get treated the same.
Been torrenting for years, as well as using Firefox and SiteAdvisor, and also scanning files I'm unsure of. The result? I've never gotten a virus, ever. Learn to use the internet better.
I agree with 33. It should be at LEAST 4GB unless it's a really bad game which doesn't deserve downloading anyway. I recently downloaded Mirror's edge (didn't work with 64-bit) and unpacked, that gave me about 12 gigs I think.
600MB isn't alot, depending on your Internet connection. Anyways, back up your data and reinstall Windows or Mac OS X. There usually recovery CDs provided with computers.
#201: Stupid comment is stupid.. It could be an Indy game, or an old game.
You should get a proper anti-virus, really.. NOD32 intercepts even while the download is still active.
hahaha shattered
#204 - On 06/14/2009 at 11:22am by huggielious
whoa thats a huge virus :S good luck ! just like #203 said - get a proper anti-virus
You know, it's because of faggot pirates like you that keep gamers from returning pc games for cash!
get an antivirus! and download from secure sites.
and get a better internet connection. :D
#207 - On 06/14/2009 at 1:09pm by spinarium
@193: You can go ahead and laugh when windows users get viruses, which only really happens to idiots that d/l random stuff, but we can laugh at you Mac users when at the checkout counter. I'd rather get a virus than pay triple the price or more to get the same comp because "it doesn't get viruses." Mac's can get viruses too, but hardly anyone would make one because the majority of people use windows.
you didnt deserve that. who the hell makes a 600mb computer virus i have never even heard of one that big it must be able to adapt
Pirated copy? who said you had to pay for it?
I've downloaded a bunch of free games, ranging from 400mb - 2GB
You got a virus... unlucky D:
and thats why you buy your games...
Combofix
Smitfraudfix
Vundofix
Malwarebytes
ESET NOD32
Best Anti-virus team up EVAR
193, macs get viruses too. Most are aimed at windows because the majority of people use windows. There ARE a few mac viruses out there, and you dumb fucks who think you are invincible are the ones that usually get them.
why does everyone assume he downloaded the game illegally, just because he got the game off the internet doesn't mean that it was illegal. There are a lot of people that make games and put them up for free because they're new to game making and want responses back on how the game was. There are also people who make online games for free, and just make it so the really good items in the game are what you have to buy.
God I hate stupid people who assume things.
What game was it claiming to be?
Always scan first dude! Eset's NOD32, actually BUY IT! Oh, btw... YDI!
Oh and another thing. 600MB is a fairly average size for a single-CD game, like many classic games from the turn of the millenium. System Shock 2 is about 585MB and that's an astonishingly good game I pirated. You should too.
#18 900 mb movie? :P if they're 600-1000 they're always 699-701. for some reason o.O
It was porn wasnt it haha, Yeahh anything online thats FREE, that looks too good to be true.....Is too good to be True; you kinda Deserved that one
And the DA award goes to this kid.
Sucks.
Well, at least your sprites will be having an interesting few days. :D
(eCookies to anyone who gets the reference.)
the reason you deserved this one is because this problem would not have existed if you had a mac, which doesnt get viruses
Well look on the bright side...
If you don't fight off the virus you can get a better computer. Half ur fucking day downloading something that small? You must have used Limewire or something. YDI for not getting the game from the website, or even better, invest your time in a good game you need to pay for!
Pc works good enough to be on FML though I see
Ha ha ha. Noob you never download crap like that. Unless you know you can trust the site. And what game is 600mb?
#17 Im using 10 to 15 minutes on 1GB
Dude intead of downloading the pirated game first, you should have pirated an anti virus like norton suckah
Learn how to pirate properly. If you fail, save yourself the trouble and buy the damn thing.
I love how everybody assumes it was piracy. Even if it was, you can easily avoid malware, so YDI.
Everyone is assuming this person is a pirate, and not realising that, at a tiny 600 meg, it could well be an abandonware game; a game that is no-longer available to purchase legally.
If nobody is actually selling the game, then you can't possibly be stealing from them by downloading a copy.
#233 - That's true, it might be abandonware.
But I'm going to assume it wasn't, refer you to "Home of the Underdogs" if it was, and click YDI. :-)
get a mac. no viruses, no games :D
YDI. Whether or not it was piracy, it's not that hard to avoid viruses.
#236 - On 06/15/2009 at 10:09am by deaditegirl
1. Free games exist.
2. Fuck macs.
3. Torrents rule.
4. Anti-Virus software is garbage and is largely ineffective for doing anything other than reporting a virus.
I personally think this story is made up....
1) most viruses are measured in kb
2) I know a few that are a few mb, but not usually over 10mbs. And these viruses are seriously dangerous, such as being able to break into government networks and such.
So yah, the 600mb is bs.
The only thing more retarded than the original post are the comments.
And #238, the 600mb isn't bs. You're just an idiot.
YDI, look at comments before you download...
U have two computers I see...
I don't know about this extensively, but...
Some anti-virus programs will mistake safe files for viruses because of the way they behave. You still wanna read comments about the file before downloading, though. And also...
1. He didn't say it was pirated, it could be a free game.
2. Not all people that download torrents are being cheap, it's a good way to try out programs before buying. Trial versions are limiting, either there isn't enough time to try out the program, or they limit functions heavily so you can't do anything. May as well know that you want a program before buying it.

Do System Restore if you can to before you downloaded it. (Make sure you delete the game completely before you do) Worked for me. Otherwise, what i came here to say is wow YLIF
And now your typing this.....
anyone got a link to that download? and btw 600mb is a 1-cd game. MOST games have 1 cd, and are therefore less than 700mb.
Also, I recommend Avast! (the official title has an exclamation point) for antivirus. It's free and very effective and will scan programs and downloads in realtime so it isn't possible to infect your system unknowingly.
247, you are pretty stupid. I haven't seen a videogame under 1 GB since about 2002. And no, most videogames do not come on 1 CD, as you said, but come on DVDs, which are substantially larger, and most games, the vast majority really, come on multiple DVDs, making them multiple Gigabyte files. This guy got what was coming to him for not checking out the download, not comparing it to other files of a similiar type, and just being a moron.
@248: Nobody ever said the game was recent. Many years of good games were released on a single CD. Some may still be; perhaps one of us is not looking hard enough. I do not intend to argue that point. However, a large percentage -- perhaps even a majority -- of computer users are completely ignorant to sane computing methods, such as those you described at the end of your post. They do not know what a file extension or file type is, they would not know the first place to look for evidence of a virus, and they don't know how to use any form of anti-malware software. The only point that makes OP a moron by these standards is not having an anti-virus program that blocks viruses before they run, which all recent consumer AV products do.
Thank you for calling me pretty, by the way.
u either downloaded it wrong or u went to a website that is not trusted much
Wow. That wasn't smart. If you had an anti-virus, you wouldn't have had that problem. GOOD ones (cough cough, Avast Free Edition, cough cough) scan files that are coming in and when you launch them. The GOOD ones also don't bug you on every program/files, just the infected ones. I'd recommend you have a GOOD antivirus.
Also, don't be a dumb downloader. If you don't have protection, only download from trusted sources. Such as bittorrent sites where dozens of people have commented, saying it's virus free, or from normal paysites. Not from standard P2P, bad torrent sites, obscure torrents in the good sites, or from sites Google has a huge exclaimer for.
Oh, and 600mb may be large for a virus, but not for an infected file, or for a virus coated in excess crap. If the MPAA can make 10 second videos asking you to download bogus codecs into 700mb, you can make any virus into 600mb.
YDI for not running a virus scan. If you're not going to upgrade to a Mac, that's the least you can do. Get a life. They're in the Get Real section of your local supermarket, next to the clues.
253: Lmao @ "upgrade" to a mac!!!
