Today, sound asleep next to my boyfriend, he starts having a bad dream and punches me in the hip. I've been awake for 2 hours now. it's 4:30 in the morning and he's sound asleep. FML.

Short of the point where you move further away, you might want to consider talking with your boyfriend about his actions. I know that this might seem strange, but the recounting of my mom's story where she was sound asleep in the bed and suddenly my dad slaps her on the butt. She thought that was the rudest way to wake her from a sound sleep, so she kicked him. To her amazement, he kicked her back! Sound asleep!! Turns out my dad was dreaming he was trying to train a misbehaving horse and in the dream, he'd slapped the horse to get its attention. In the dream, the horse kicked him, so he kicked it back, completely unaware of what his body was doing. Even while this story was very hilarious, it made my dad consider how he went to sleep. Unless this is a regular occurrence of your boyfriend, the body reacts physically to a dream when it is stressed. A relaxed mind = a relaxed dream-sleep.

Punch him in the back of the head, and pretend to be sleeping too.
