Today, I found out that my mother intentionally donated the quilt that I had made for her, because, "It didn't match anything". That was $70 worth of fabric and 7 and a half weeks spent on that handiwork of mine. FML

True, she didnt trash it... not much help to the OP as the mother didnt want or appreciate it, but at least someone is appreciating all that work instead of it just being thrown away.

That's awful! Sorry to hear that OP. I've had that kind of thing happen with many things but they were all accidental. You didn't deserve to have that happen to you. Hopefully your mother will come to her senses and realize how ignorant that was, and maybe try to make it up to you someway.

Almost nobody really appreciates handmade crafts unless they also craft. I hardly make anything for family or friends unless I'm specifically asked to. So sorry that happened to you, she really should have handled it better!

I guess I must be weird because I absolutely love homemade gifts and I can't craft at all. I Especially love scarves or blankets. I would much rather someone make something for me than buy something any day.

I think people appreciate them but don't really appreciate the time and effort that go into them, which is very different. I sure didn't until I stated crocheting and realised how long it took and how much money it took to make large items. And gifting something you've made also takes bravery because if someone rejects it, it's like they're rejecting a piece of you and it sucks.

My family doesn't craft, but they love any gift I make them because I put time and effort into it. Especially the baby blankets...man those were rough!
