Today, I told my husband I felt unfulfilled and unhappy in my life. He suggested I do more chores. FML

Oh yes, whenever I'm feeling down, washing dishes and vacuuming always puts a big smile on my face! What great advice!

That sucks, but if you are feeling seriously unhappy then you should seek legitimate advice. Good luck in fulfilling yourself and being happy!

Suggest he makes his own dinner and sleeps on his own couch.

Other, maybe helpful, suggestions: Aside from reigniting a pursuit for a dream job (never too late!) she could pick up a hobby with something she's always wanted to try and just start doing it. She can join a club or organization with a common interest or goal and participate in that. Maybe create something and let your inner artist out! Also, Journaling is a great way to clarify your perspective on your life and you might be able to list out different things you can try and find something you're passionate about. Trying a new physical exercise like yoga, spinning, rock climbing, or zumba can be a fun way to stimulate your brain to think of ideas while you can meet new people and ramp up your endorphins to feel happier!

I hear doing chores works pretty well too.

The fact 1's picture is Obama makes that comment ten times better

FYL, My dad used to do that. Nothing more annoying!

If your dad is telling you that it's most likely you said you were bored, not unhappy and unfulfilled.

Now is the time you teach his ass how to use a vaccuum

step 1 ) plug it in step 2) turn it on step 3) move it back and forth vigorously until all debris are gone

Nothing makes a person more fulfilled than drugs! Except most other things.

Or just follow the stuff she likes, even tho her family might not like/approve it.

The concept isn't *that* ****** up. It reigns true, keep your mind busy, you'll feel better. However, the husband was clearly just being a dick.

I side with you, 12. For some odd reason, I like doing the dishes when I'm sad and need to keep my mind busy.

Hey, I feel a sense of personal accomplishment when my house is in order. Probably not what the wife might want to hear but I know a lot of guys that are problem solvers, my BF included. Some days I just want to vent about my crummy day at work and he'll "advise" me what I should have done differently.

#23 - I've been yelled at for that on more than one occasion. Unless you're explicitly asked for your input, eventually you learn to nod your head and say, "No way, how could they?! ... Really? What did you say? ... That's awful, hon. You didn't deserve that."

Yup! My bf likes me to guve him advise when hes down and I like to just vent. Usually I'll just say "I just need to vent now" so he doesn't start advising!

Same for me #23. There have been a lot of times where my problem solving husband wants to help where I just want to vent and not get any advice. And I've been on his case not to do that all the time even though guys are natural problem solvers. And for this, I have found putting my home in order when things are out of place makes me feel accomplished especially when I do a two day overhaul on the house once a month. I think OP'S husband wants to problem solve and just threw something out there to see if it would work.

Your name's not Cinderella is it? Because, I could see that be a degrading and sexist plot twist after "happily ever after".

Wow. You should've said "or I could leave you" something to scare him so he'll put in some effort. Sorry to hear about that OP

You guys need to communicate more and more than that. Intimacy solves the problem
