New Rule Suggestion: If your post makes it clear that you still live with your parents, your life doesn't suck because you haven't really lived it yet. (+1)Just because everyone thinks their life sucks at 16 doesnt mean a 16 year old can't have a legitimately sucky life. When I was 16 my mother kicked me out because I couldnt find a job and that made me 'lazy' I spent my entire summer babysitting her friends 3 kids (on her orders) for free and my two little sisters.
Four days a week I would take all 5 kids out with me to apply for jobs (the other three days I took the kids swimming. It would have been unfair to make them come with me every day). I applied for every job I could think of. High positions and low ones, everywhere. However this was two years ago, when the economy first started to tank, and no where was hiring a 16 year old girl. I applied, for over 200 jobs that summer. I interviewed at about 20 places, but they always chose the 30 years old with work experince over the 16 year old looking for her first job. My mom kicked me out for being too lazy to get a job.
I moved in with my father who had no running water adn no heat, and a leaky ceiling. I lived with him from August 30th to March 17th, taking showers at his friends house nad filling up gallon jugs of water for cooking and dishes, because he didn't have hte money toturn the water back on, and I still couldnt find a job. He started making me see a therapist (paid for by my health insurance) who told me that my mother wasperfectly justified in kicking me out. Trying to get a job is not the same ashaving one, and if I wasn't good enough to find a job I wasn't good enough to live in her house and set a bad example of not working for my younger sisters.
That Seven months I was only able to talk to my sisters once. My mother would not answer my phone calls for the girls, and threw out any letters I sent them (this i found out after the fact, of course). I had been the second parent to my sisters. Their father had walked out on them (half sisters technically) and my mother and I had an understanding that I was to keep the house clean, the girls fed and well dressed and make sure the girls did thier homework during the school year, and she would go to work and keep the bills paid. I love those girls in a way that I can only compare to the way a mother loves her children, though not being a mother myself I can't be sure. Being away from tehm, nto able to contact them, was hell for me.
When I moved back in, three days before my sisters birthday, I was yelled at two hours after getting home, because the house was still a mess. I went up to my room adn cried until my sister knocked on my door reminding me that I was lucky to be home with them.
Now in my opinion, that sucks, and I would never wish that on anyone else.

(+1)It depends on whether or not they teach the kids about how to use condoms and other forms of birth control, talk about the failure rates, encourage them to use two kinds at once, etc. If they do all that, it's not an afterthought. There's nothing wrong with saying that there is no way to have 100% safe sex. The term "safe sex" is actually on the out, in favor of the term "safer sex." (That the OP doesn't know that also makes me think this FML is fake.)

Whose to say OP doesnt spend time with or pay attention to her daughter? Even kids whose parents keep a very close eye on them can do stupid thing. I've seen kids who parents spend so much time with them that the kid feels the need to do something repulsive to get the parent off thier back. I've seen other kids who have had great relationship with their parents and made a one time mistake.
There are also parents who are just fine at parenting, but make the mistake of assuming thier kids are smart enough adn know enough not to get pregnant. My mother was one of them adn I bet OP is too. My mom, luckily enough, was right. OP messed up but I dont think she did it through neglect. It was probably some thought process like "*Daughter* has lived with me and has seen teh work I do, and has heard my speeches about abstinence and safe sex. Therefore she must know better" But because the talks werent directed to her specifically the daughter didn't happen to absorb them. Theres no way OP could have know whether or not her daughter knew better unless she asked. She screwed up by making that assumption, but thats not unusual and that doesnt mean she doesnt spend enough time with her daughter or pay enough attention to her.

The thing is, that’s only a small percent age fo the population. As a human you don’t notice the non-slutty, rule following children, because that’s what you expect to see. When you see something every day you don’t register it in your mind. It’s the unusual things that we tend to notice more.
Yes, more children are dressing sluttier. In my opinion that’s partly due to the fact that when you walk into a store, they most have sluttier clothing. It’s getting harder and harder to dress children acceptably.
You also said you hate to see where the world will be in 10 years. This has always been a commonly echoed phrase. “When I was a kid that was considered rude/unacceptable/dirty/whatever.” However although people are having sex at ridiculously young ages, that’s nothing new. Just more people are aware of it because people aren’t so determined to hide it anymore. There is also:
~an ever increasing emphasis on education. That’s a good thing that still growing.
~a growing awareness of how things effect the natural environments (although some of it is a bit misinformed)
~Higher awareness of health effects of things both positive and negative.
Point is: The world definitely isn’t getting any better, but its not getting any worse either

My parents never told me "Go have sex at 14" they specifically told me they'd prefer if I didn't but still taught me everything I needed to know to go about it the safe way. In a sense, waiting until 18 makes you "safer," simply because you are wiser, and the waiting could make it all the better. You know, the anticipation? Also getting fully "prepared" beforehand (learning whatever it is you desire to learn, and learning it in good detail) would make it a good time too, I would bet.
Also, about the vasectomy, isn't the sperm part of semen supposed to be the healthiest part (for swallowing, I mean)? And what if your eventual spouse wants children? I mean, from you? They CAN be reversed, yes, but I hear it's a painful process. You're absolutely right though, about the STDs. The name may be a tad misleading, but I can't believe people think you can only be infected by them through sex. Several STDs can infect you through different ways, such as needle sharing and being born with it (such as you stated). They're DISEASES. I don't think there is a single disease or sickness that can only be obtained through doing one thing. If there is, it's going to adapt soon and find another way.

Umm, I've only heard one thing that said eating sperm is healthy. And that was if a woman is pregnant, swallowing the sperm of the man who got her pregnant could lower the risk of complications because she'll become used to that DNA.
I wouldn't get it reversed if my wife wants children. I would never make my wife pregnant because if I"m married to her I'll assume I love her and I would never put a woman I love through pregnancy and child birth even if she does want me to. Why would I put my wife through something painful to ruin my life and I think ruin hers? The adoption I talked about? It was a compromise, I still ruin my life but I don't have to see my wife going through 9 months of hell followed by the agony of child birth all while knowing that I caused it.

I speak from experiance when I say it is the most beautiful thing that can happen to a woman. Yes that is one way in ingesting semen being healthy. Sex during pregnancy is also helpful, for that reason.
But semen also contains a lot of essential vitamins, along with testosterone. It also elates mood, and possibly fights some forms of cancer. Semen as a whole does this, and I reasonably assumed sperm would be a good contributor of some of those vitamins and, of course, the testosterone.
By "wiser" I mean a lot of different things. With age comes social experience and, I would assume, your personal sexual adventures (meaning practice and masturbation). You know more definitely what you want, what you're looking for, and how to do and get those things, for one. You'll more clearly be able to judge a person.
I'm not saying that at 18 you magically know everything, of course you don't, but I am just meaning that you'll know more than you do now. That is what I meant.

Someone who wants to wait is maybe scared and so wants to find someone they think can work them out of their fear.
Someone who either waits or doesn't ever may be doing it for some sort of "statement" or to prove they have a mastery over his/herself.
It all depends on the person. I can't find any of the reasons I just listed necessarily "stupid." Yes, intercourse is a natural thing, but since we are of a higher intelligence, we take our interractions with each other gravely seriously, and intimacy is probably the most serious of all interractions. Some people take it too seriously, some people not enough. Doesn't necessarily mean any of them are stupid. Maybe silly, but not stupid.
Like I said, the only thing I really think is stupid when it comes to sex is bitching about something that's your own fault.

(+1)That is extremely naive of you. Having sex before marriage is not necessarily a wise decision. However, some people (myself included) do not want to get married; does that mean we can't have sex? Although sex is never 100% safe, nothing is, and if you're careful, it's no so risky. As Dr. Brennan (from the show Bones) would say, "marriage is an antiquated ritual" and it is unrealistic to be happy in a relationship for your entire life. There's a reason people are getting divorced more frequently; society places a higher value on "true love" than it used to. The daughter shouldn't be having sex at the age of fourteen, but a fully grown adult should not be killed for having sex and not being married.
Also, abstinence until marriage doesn't mean that getting pregnant after marriage is a good idea. A huge percentage of American marriages end in divorce, often after the parents have children. People should learn to wait a few years before they have kids (my parents waited 9 years, and they're still happily married). Often times, the divorce is as bad as teenage pregnancy, because the teen is more likely to realize that they can't handle the child and will consider other options. The young wife, on the other hand, will probably think it's great, and then get divorced two years later, and leave her child without a father, or means to support it.
Also, there is no mention of drinking in this post. This page isn't a place for people to post irrelevant comments. I agree that teenage drinking, and drinking in general, is not good, but find a better place to talk about it.

I have had numerous opportunities to have sex, and my mother was so overprotective that I wasn't allowed to have a sleepover until I was 13, and had already been on the week long class trip.

What happened to girls going to the gyno once they start their period, and then having a loving relationship enough for the girls to ask to be put on birth control, if they couldn't get it themselves from their doctor? Of course, she should've used condoms as well, but had she been educated about the various risks of preganacy for each type of birth control, she could've picked a combination that worked. (Meaning that condoms are what, 80% effective? And the pill, even if taken perfectly every day at the same time every day, are 98-99% percent effective at best. Teens having sex is nothing new in the world we live in and some people have to learn to wrap their mind around this fact. If the daughter was a few years older, her having sex would be a non-issue. As if in a few years having sex becomes a completely rational decision. But something puzzles me a bit about the logic brought up here. Prove she didn't have safe sex. Yes, she's pregnant but, funny fact, condoms can split. It says right on the packet that they're only 95% effective so that means 5% of the time they don't work. That in no way means the OP's daughter was stupid or rebelling.
With this in mind, please just think about what you say and USE THE FACTS AT HAND before you judge. She came home pregnant to a mother who cares more about how this reflects on her. Speak about that and not of how you perceive the young mother.

In order to make this part of your argument valid you need to include websites that are not pro-life. A site that is purely pro-life will ONLY show the negative side. Whatever positives there are, will be ignored. This goes for everything, not just abortion debates. If you only give one side to the story, one opinion, people will not take you seriously. Better to find a medical site that gives you all the information on abortions, but has no clear bias.

It's not a baby until it's born, and if it haves any limbs it's already too late and you should've had the abortion back in the first fucking trimester when said infant was more of a clump of cells than an infant

I was pro-life, UNTIL about two years ago-ish (8th grade?), when my friend was molested by her rancid cousin and suspected that she might have been roofied and *shutter*. And I don't know, it's sad that it took that much for me to have an epiphany (I'm just hardheaded that way), I realized that, the fetus is NOT the more important party, this was all extremely earth shaking for me, turning into a pro choicer in a matter of waiting for her pregnancy test to come up (praise be that it was negative).
I know that there is nothing really that I can say to you that just won't glaze over the top and you won't chalk it up to me being a lazy feminist slut, but you're wrong, just actually think, is what you believe REALLY, and actually relevant? That a person shouldn't be allowed to end an unwanted and unprepared for pregnancy? What about cases about rape? How is that fair? And if you do support abortion in the case of rape that's a big double standard, what makes consensual fetus better then rape fetus? And how are you suppose to find out if the mother was a consenting partner? Lying is easy.
And for the record, I'm gay, so abortion probably won't be an issue for me personally, AND I can't wait to be a mother (adoption, sperm donors) So, you can't really call me a lazy feminist whore that just wants abortion to "do" every dude that comes around.

(0)Yea i agree. In my school, we have a nursery for the teens with children. Its not the parents fault, in fact, the parents are amazing and have told their teens to not have sex. and for this 14 year old, her mother might end up taking care of it. Unless the teenager will stop school, and basically ruin her life for this child. She is probably too young (and doesn't have to money herself) to even take care of the child. So summing up (I guess) everyone who is calling her a whore, stop! She is facing enough of her own problems right now! So give her a brake!

(0)...I think that the child should have a right to decide whether she should have sex or not. And if she does, it is her responsibility to not get pregnant. I feel that the parent should feel disappointed since everybody have their own expectations of their children but ultimately whether the parent is or is not a public speaker has nothing to do with your child's pregnancy. It's like saying my atheist views should coincide with my parent's own religious views. I know they seem different and pregnancy is a much more serious matter, but my main point is that what's done is done and a parent's job has nothing to do with child pregnancy.
And about the abortion issue that got started...I don't know how it started and I won't bother following those hundreds of comments up there but I don't think abortion is the issue. But since we started on it...I think that abortion is a good thing to have. If you don't believe in abortion then just don't have an abortion. Why must people go about trying to illegalize it? I feel the Bible/religious reason is kind of ineffective since not everyone believes in God. And although I do understand that some women keep getting pregnant and keep aborting them, I think that there is still a good portion of people who has abortions because they believe that they can't take care of it and for a whole many reasons (if I named any reasons, I'd be criticized for the few reasons I didn't leave out). And besides, if the women wants to have multiple abortions, then let her have it. I also feel that the "killing of the baby" reason is kind of ineffective. We eat meat, we hunt game, kill animals, there are millions of children and people starving and dying in poorer countries, people getting killed all over the globe, and we worry about a fetus that hasn't been born yet?
I hope no one starts ranting about this. I do not mean to offend anyone. It really is just what I believe in. Please do not call me stupid/idiot/shithead/"fucking atheist"/and so on for my views.
