Man or woman?

Today, my five-year-old came home from summer camp crying because her friends and counselors had all laughed at her when she couldn't identify colors correctly during a game. My husband then confessed that he had taught her colors wrong because he thought it would be funny. FML

Father of the year. Write this down under "Things she'll bring up in therapy in adulthood."

#49 another one in that book could be "my mother making a book of things that i will mention when i go into therapy in adulthood"

#158 - On 07/16/2009 at 8:10pm by CodeMan16

#113 - What? If you're going to put YDI for everything, since every post I've looked at today has had you post a comment like this, could you at least invent some other reason to post YDI than "I'm an idiot?" YDI for getting married? If you're going to be an ass at least be a creative one.

OP - Complain to the camp. Laughing at your kid is un-called for.

#161 - On 07/16/2009 at 8:27pm by bipolaradhdfml

hahah definitively she will talk about it

#177 - On 07/16/2009 at 9:21pm by rafaelaugusto94

I agree with #161 for OP

-Completely uncalled for from the counselors.

They should've corrected the situation.

and my addition:

Your husband is an asshole. Or at least what he did was an asshole thing to do.

Dad is not a dad. He may be a father, but that is all. Does he think child abuse is funny too? He shamed his own child. What a sumbish. He has to be a liberal Democrat.

#207 - On 07/16/2009 at 11:05pm by FarSide

I'm tempted to hurl abuse at this comment, but will refrain and merely ask why political affiliation would have anything to do with a father being cruel to his child.

I'm of the same political affiliation [I assume] as 207, and I have to agree. That is way out of line. I wish people like that had no connection to the republican party. They give us a bad name.

#207 - Wow, way to assume that everyone who has different opinions from you is evil, which in my mind this dad absolutely is. You're an excellent human being that we should all strive to be like.

#272 - On 07/17/2009 at 10:38am by regalarius

Oh yeah because parenting, OF COURSE, has to do with politics, IDIOT.

OP Your husband is a real loser.

How ON EARTH is this abuse? I bet that dad has such a good sense of humor. I always wonder about doing things like that when I have children. You were probably all raised with the most boring parents ever, have some character.

#280 - On 07/17/2009 at 12:09pm by coldhands

That's mean #1. It wasn't her fault; her dad was being irresponsible. How would you like it if you woke up and went to work/school one day and your peers laughed at you because something you'd known your whole life had turned out to be wrong?

#308 - On 07/18/2009 at 4:26am by musicjunkiealert

your husband is my hero

#314 - On 07/18/2009 at 10:44pm by nikigustapie

Umm the OP wasnt writing an FML because the camp laughed at her kid, she wrote it because her husband taught their kid the colors wrong as a joke.

#330 - On 07/27/2009 at 4:39pm by wolfman1224

dont hate me u guys but wen i read it i thought it was funny 2 lol

#336 - On 08/10/2009 at 2:24am by aria02

Once my baby bro came up to me and asked me what game i was playing. I said "blub blub". I then collapsed into giggles as he told that to all his little friends and they went to and complained to my mom that they wanted to play "blub blub" as well.

#341 - On 10/16/2009 at 5:13pm by acid_wit

Yah, OP, your husband is a moron.. I would strongly suggest not letting him teach or talk to your daughter, from this point onwards.. And call up the summer camp and give them a piece of your mind.. :D

#345 - On 01/22/2010 at 11:10pm by Secret_Fire_King

#172 - On 07/16/2009 at 8:52pm by neuroseizer

This is what I was thinking too. If she was old enough to go to summer camp shouldn't she have been to school already, and wouldn't they have noticed this and helped her/tell you?

#173 - On 07/16/2009 at 8:55pm by dtp882

Seriously. I feel sorry for your kid for having 2 useless parents.

I know, right? Shouldn't it be a shared job, honestly?
And if your husband pulled this jerk move, what else is he doing?

#96 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:30pm by redbluegreen

yeah, my grandmother tried to do something similar but with animal sounds. The duck goes, CAWWW CAWW. The snake goes, CAWWW CAWWW! The fish goes, CAWW CAWW. The Elephant goes CAWW CAWW!

Her excuse was, what does he know? He's only a baby

#200 - On 07/16/2009 at 10:34pm by skiz

Not really. It's only criminal if you sell videos of the child and don't submit sales tax.

[Wow, I did not know there was a time limit on how fast you can post comments.]

#43 - On 07/16/2009 at 5:45pm by hitemlow

Actually it could technically be classified as unsanctioned human experimentation, which is illegal.

But I like your comment #43 - and yeah I run into the comment timer all the damn time.

#52 - On 07/16/2009 at 5:53pm by Kristoffer

Yes, BUT the child's parents can give consent to anything being done to the child (like removing a kidney [they basicly OWN the child like a slave]). And psychological damage is not as bad as the physical removal of an organ (in the Social Services' book, at least).

#52- It sucks for trolling.

#66 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:00pm by hitemlow

Umm don't think parents can just have their kid's kidneys removed without a good reason. Dunno where you live, but in most developed countries that would be considered child abuse at a pretty high level.

FHL :\

#38 - On 07/16/2009 at 5:41pm by pteresadactyl

I've actually planned on doing this for a really long time.

1. Have a child.
2. Homeschool them with EVERYTHING backward.
3. Place concealed camera on child.
4. Release child into the world for the first time and LMAO, then post the tape on whatever video-sharing site is popular at the time.

Yes, I AM SERIOUS.

Yes, I will raise another child in a gravity-free environment and then release them into the world just to test if the Matrix is real.

#39 - On 07/16/2009 at 5:43pm by hitemlow

That's incredible!!! Let me know those experiments go. Finally, someone understands what kids are REALLY for.

@OP: Aw, I feel really sad for your daughter, but at least your husband's idea was pretty damn funny.

#65 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:00pm by divineinstrument

wow. what a sick move!!! you really plan on ruining a childs life just because you think its funny? well its NOT funny. and this is a great reason of why people get depressed. how would you like that to happen to you? and not only that... but that child may grow up thinking that theyre dislexic for the rest of their life and not even know that they arent. good job!

#68 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:01pm by ashhh93

#68 A kid can't be dislexic if they don't know what dislexia is. Also, how do you know I won't just have all the books in my compound printed backwards? Or that SOMEONE needs to test these theories! Plus, if the child lives in an environment where they are taught these things and MAINTAINED so that they become so ingrained in the child's psyche that they can never be removed, the child would be perfectly happy. [Example: If you are raised to read books right to left and all the books in your house are written right to left, but the rest of the books in the world are left to right, you would be fucked later on. BUT, if you never left your house (where all the books are right to left), you'd be perfectly happy.]

Remember, difference has to be interpreted as different. If it is the same as yours, there is no difference.

#89 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:17pm by hitemlow

You do realize it's a JOKE, right?

#91 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:20pm by quackquackquac

Actually, if you noticed who was writing, you'd notice that I was clarifying myself. And it's not a joke, I'm serious.

#94 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:24pm by hitemlow

i've always wanted to do the same thing except in a more physical method. like tie weights to my child since the day of birth and increase the weight as the child grow up. by adulthood or 18, take the weights off, he'll be like superman- stronger, faster and ready to win daddy some Olympic medals.
and for those who say this will mess up his back- that's what a back-brace is for. an Olympic winner can't have bad posture.

#159 - On 07/16/2009 at 8:17pm by worstpersonalive

Why do you have to be so serious about a joke? Jesus Christ, just shut up and laugh. You don't have to be outspoken on everything just because people are too tired of you to listen. STFU already!

You people are all so serious. I think her husband is a legend. I mean, no harm done really, just re-teach the colours. Still, it sounds like something I would do.

Also, the summer camp people are assholes for laughing.

#42 - On 07/16/2009 at 5:45pm by Dabamash

Actually, language is a really sensitive thing for young children. Maybe she'll get over it, but maybe she won't. (Although I suspect this FML isn't real, because she's probably been learning colors since she was eighteen months or so, and not just from her father, but from all kinds of sources. Adults love to ask children about colors, and these days, most kids go to daycare or at least kindergarten. Three and a half years is a long time for no one else to notice that she's getting colors wrong, or for her not to notice that her sources about the names of colors are conflicting. It's still entertaining, though!)

#55 - On 07/16/2009 at 5:55pm by letitbe56

Hit the nail on the head here! Kids are NOT taught colors overnight. And during the learning process all the adults around the child-grandparents, daycare, babysitters, parents- are saying things like "oooh what a pretty shirt! What color is it?" No way could the dad have single-handedly taught her the wrong colors without anyone noticing or correcting

#294 - On 07/17/2009 at 5:42pm by jamiej

Who the hell sends a 5 year-old to a summer camp? I thought that was considered child abandonment (if you drop a 9 year-old off at an Elementary school 10-min before they open, it is considered child abandonment.)

So, why do you care that she doesn't know her colors? You sent a 5 year-old of to camp for a week because you don't love her! No wonder she's gonna go postal on her teddy bears!

#54 - On 07/16/2009 at 5:54pm by hitemlow

you must of had a bad childhood

#60 - On 07/16/2009 at 5:58pm by kyle_kbo20

Not every woman can afford to be a stay at home mom, unfortunately, and a lot of daycares have "vacation" in the summer, like school. I worked at a daycare for infants and toddlers, some as young as three months. It's not that they want to abandon their kids...it's just that three months is all they get for maternity leave. If they don't go back to work, they lose their jobs.

#64 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:00pm by letitbe56

I'm thinking OP probably meant daycamp, especially since it's the middle of the week.

#69 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:01pm by Lonely_Lez

#64 Yes, but she said "summer camp" and "counselors", neither of which are at day-cares. And maternity leave isn't months for most places of employment.

#69 You are aware that ALL FML's have to begin with "Today", right? And that it can take several days for it to finally get posted on the frontpage. And SOME summer camps end in the middle of the week, or the daughter could have been so distraught that she had to leave summer camp early.

#79 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:08pm by hitemlow

Learn to read. I will quote myself: "...a lot of daycares have "vacation" in the summer, like school."

#163 - On 07/16/2009 at 8:32pm by letitbe56

Plenty of "summer camps" are daytime-only, you idiot.

#168 - On 07/16/2009 at 8:43pm by therealmike

What the hell happened to you, #54? Your life must have really sucked if you feel that summer camp is a form of abandonment.

your daughter may not know color, but i guess you will be seeing red now.
and your husband is a genius.

#61 - On 07/16/2009 at 5:59pm by WhiteDelight

For all the people who say "Just reteach her", it's not that easy. I worked in a pre-school and if kids learned something one way and they had to do it another way for school it was very difficult to change. Plus, I don't get how it's funny to set your own child up for humiliation. Maybe I just care about my kids. Also to the mom, I agree in the fact of where the hell were you! You never asked her "what color is this?" Shame on both of you.

#63 - On 07/16/2009 at 5:59pm by amystar1

Wow. Divorce his ass. Your husband is fucking scum to play a cruel joke like this on his daughter. Is it really funny for him to make his child a laughingstock?? Wow, this makes me want to fucking kill. Horrible parent.

#67 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:01pm by angorashi

Your husband is a dick. Getting a laugh at your kids expense is juvenile and ignorant.

#70 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:02pm by mrose57

and funny. my parents embarrass me all the time. i dont like it, but i get over it and eventually. it was a funny joke and the kids fine.

#179 - On 07/16/2009 at 9:39pm by towell777

lol that's so sad. even worse i can imagine doing that to my own kids

#71 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:02pm by whitefishblackC

Wow. What a fucking dick. You sure chose a real mature and wonderful man to father your children. Your judgement is partially to blame.

#73 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:05pm by neverland

Your husband is a dick. Getting a laugh at your child's expense is juvenile and ignorant. Children that age are very sensitive to ridicule - she may remember this for the rest of her life.

#74 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:06pm by mrose57

ok, i love that. its friggin hilarious but i do feel bad for your kid

#76 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:06pm by kandai

this is kind of unbelievable, if she's been speaking for 3 years, how could you never have noticed that she didn't know the right names for the colors? unless you completely ignore her.

#77 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:06pm by ghostgirll

So this is why kids are getting dumber each generation. Seriously FYL for marrying an idiot. That causes serious damage to a child and I bet that half the people on this site saying it's hilarious would be able to dish it out but not be able to be on the receiving end. Not only does that cause harm to the child's learning abilities, but that experience will be very traumatic.

#78 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:07pm by Alexgoesfml

Your husband is a jackass. I hope your kid doesn't end up with emotional scars. Best of luck to your kid

#81 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:09pm by XanimalloverX

Okay, that is funny and your husband is probably a fun guy. But seriously, 5 years and you never noticed she knew her colors wrong?

#83 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:10pm by swooshq

HAHAHA your husband is friggin hilarious! i should do this with my niece! haha

#84 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:15pm by 44eclipse

Your husband is an idiot. That's cute for maybe a 2-year-old. But for a 5-year-old? That's cruel.

#85 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:15pm by Me27

What an ass!

#87 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:16pm by SwimbabySwim

Wow, what a dick move -_- And those counselors should be fired. Seriously.
I didn't go to preschool or day care, and I didn't start Kindergarten until I was 3 months away from being 6. Although I did know my colors.
Then again, I didn't have a parent who taught them to me wrong.

#88 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:17pm by fadedmemories14

Seriously, you all need to chill the hell out. The kid is most likely not going to be screwed up for life beyond saying things like "Red... oops, I mean blue."

It isn't any worse than training a kid to be left handed, and it sure is a helluva lot better than training them to be afraid of blankets, or spiders, or whatever. What is wrong with people these days?

"My mom dropped a milk carton next to me when I was 4, so now I am deathly afraid of milk"
"My dad accidentally dropped a blanket over my head when I was 12 and I ran into a wall because it was covering my eyes. Now I can't sleep anywhere near blankets"

Everybody's parents fuck them up. This could be one of the least long-term problems a parent has ever caused their kid.

#92 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:21pm by crazeh_monkeh

I wonder if your husband taught her, her ABZ's too...

Fukking awesome.

#93 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:22pm by Doughy

haha. well hopefully she only started to learn her colors so it will be easier to reverse the damage. this is why mothers are the stay at home parents! lol

That's awesome

#97 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:31pm by Aliaandraa

Why is this a FYL? Your husband sounds a very funny dude, and your kid will think it's funny too in a few years. YDI for taking yourself so seriously that you think this is a FYL.

you kinda deserve it because you married a loser. but yeah fyl

#102 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:38pm by commanderadama

Why'd you even have a kid? You can 't be bothered to keep up on what she's learning and you're way too eager to dump her off on the sadistic dicks at summer camp. I hope you don't spawn any more.

#104 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:41pm by aback

More like FHL. But that still sucks.

I can't believe these people saying they're going to teach their kids everything backwards. I don't care if they think they're kidding or if they're really going to do this - it's mean, insensitive, and just an awful thing to do to someone who completely trusts you. I'm not amused. :|

What a dick!!!! That poor kid!!!

#112 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:45pm by marinebaby

Your husband is one thing, but the counselors another. My first reaction would be: maybe she's colorblind? And let the parents know to get her eyes checked. Not laugh about it. Wouldn't send her back there.

As for your husband. He seriously needs to learn what's acceptable to joke with and whats not. If this is something he does often you need to seriously talk with him if you haven't yet.

#114 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:46pm by Jin

if this is real, it's sooo horribly wrong. the poor child. she trusts her parents to teach her about the world and this is what your jerk of a husband does? i do find it very hard to believe that you never once asked her about her colors, though. i think this is fake. my daughter is two, and knows her colors, and everyone asks her about them. me, my husband, grandparents, random people in the store, etc. there's no way you never heard her talk about them before.

#115 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:46pm by fretforyerlatte

some ppl just shouldnt have any kids.

#116 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:47pm by lolwatlol

My grandmother did something similar with my oldest brother - she taught him that cows were chickens and chickens were cows. I heard that was a ton of fun to straighten out.

#118 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:47pm by kittyvicious

For him it's a joke. Yes it's immature... Don't forget she will remember. He is the adult, he must think of his action with his children. He is the example of her daughter!
It's little, but if he did that, he would be able to do worst without knowing it.
My father did things like that. Now, I think he was a jerk, a bad parent and so...
So, divorce or make this loser change because your daughter might be more mature than him =_='

FYL!

(sorry for my english, it's not my mother tongue).

#119 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:47pm by Lordsyla

and he was right... it IS funny! hahaha!

#121 - On 07/16/2009 at 6:51pm by epicFAIL_Sometim

......wow guys, he taught his child the wrong colors so that gives the mom grounds to leave him or take him to couseling? Wtf? ITS COLORS, CHILL. Yes, it is sad that the kid had to find out she was wrong infront of people, but jesus, its not like he beat the hell out of the kid or anything. THAT would be grounds for leaving him, and much worse.
I'm sure he sees what happened and won't do it again. Now, if he fucks with the kid even more after seeing her cry over this, THEN the mom needs to address the issues.
You guys need to chill. Seriously

Screwing up your kids really isn't that funny. Now the girl has to relearn everything, plus the mental trauma.

#133 - On 07/16/2009 at 7:04pm by MoobyTheCow

oh no! the girl got laughed at! thats not mental trauma! everyone gets made fun of sometimes and its not that big of a deal. kids should just toughen up a little bit

#182 - On 07/16/2009 at 9:46pm by towell777

It isn't that she has to relearn it that is traumatizing - it's the fact that the person she should have been able to trust to teach her about the world purposely taught her wrong that is. If I found that out at her age, I'd have trouble trusting adults again, most likely.

#191 - On 07/16/2009 at 10:08pm by BLNovelist

#141 - On 07/16/2009 at 7:18pm by I_Am_The_Edge

#143 - On 07/16/2009 at 7:18pm by HEYbitch

sorry you married a fucktard

#146 - On 07/16/2009 at 7:32pm by Jsgirl

I'd just like to let you know, if you're not already aware, that you are married to a TOTAL ASSHOLE. Something small like that can set a child on the road for being bullied, having their self esteem completely destroyed, and later on killing themselves. It's bad enough if you dress them "uncooly" let alone let them make a complete idiot out of themselves in front of their peers. Your husband obviously doesn't give one flying fuck about your daughters welfare.

#147 - On 07/16/2009 at 7:34pm by blacklite69

I take it that you were one of those kids whose parents didn't dress them "cool" enough so you freaked the fuck out, right?

#150 - On 07/16/2009 at 7:42pm by crazeh_monkeh

I was one of those happy bouncy kids who got mercilessly bullied over stupid shit like this until they lost every scrap of self esteem and self respect they ever had. I'm now 20 and still dealing with the after-effects in a big way. I don't necessarily blame it on my parents, although they sure didn't help.

#171 - On 07/16/2009 at 8:51pm by blacklite69

you shouldve beat the shit out of the people making fun of you. or conformed. or make fun of other people. or better yet, you could GET OVER IT!

#184 - On 07/16/2009 at 9:48pm by towell777

Time to sit your husband down and tell him he's a father now, and not some frat boy. Things like this WILL stay with your daughter. He may find them funny, but she evidently does not. I wouldn't be surprised if he's managed to destroy the trust and respect she may have had or would have had for him in one fell swoop. And if he did this once, what else will he do to get some cheap laughs?

Yes, parents can and do screw up their kids, but doing so INTENTIONALLY is not a laughing matter.

And note to self: don't procreate with most commenters here.

#149 - On 07/16/2009 at 7:41pm by zarc

It was a hell of a lot better than this guy, though, right?
http://psychology.wikia.com/wiki/Little_Albert_experiment

I think we can all agree on that.

#153 - On 07/16/2009 at 7:51pm by crazeh_monkeh

But at least classical conditioning can be extinguished! Low self-esteem due to being laughed at for not knowing colors can't...

I always felt bad for Little Albert. Is Watson the one who used to keep his kids in cages, or was that Skinner? Anyway, as far as unethical studies go, the little monkeys with the "cloth mommies" is a lot worse.

#165 - On 07/16/2009 at 8:36pm by letitbe56

Kids get over low self-esteem. Or at the very least learn to deal with it. I've had low self-esteem for a long time, and I think I am turning out pretty ok.

Huge thumbs up for recognizing Little Albert and remembering about skinner boxes. As far as I know, he didn't keep people in them, though. Just monkeys and rats. I do remember the baby monkeys with the cloth and wire mommies, but I can't for the life of me remember who did that one... Off to the google-sphere

#199 - On 07/16/2009 at 10:28pm by crazeh_monkeh

Exactly! You've had low self-esteem for a while now (me too). With conditioned phobias, you get in some extinction techniques like systematic desensitization, and then you're pretty much good to go. I'm not trying to say one is worse than the other, I'm just trying to point out that a conditioned phobia is much easier to treat.

I'm pretty sure Skinner kept his daughter in a box that was supposed to be somehow beneficial to her, but the public thought it was a Skinner box and condemned him for it.

#261 - On 07/17/2009 at 7:17am by letitbe56

Let's hope he's not the one to give her her first sex talk either.

#160 - On 07/16/2009 at 8:20pm by scorpiogirl666

totally agree with the frat boy comment. what an immature move to do something like that at his daughter's expense. he should be ashamed of himself. hopefully this will teach him a lesson and he won't do anything like this again. good thing this isn't too serious.

btw people, parents getting divorced is way more scarring than a bad camp experience. why on earth should the OP leave the guy and do more damage to her family over something that really isn't that bad in the long run? some people here really are lacking in life smarts...

#164 - On 07/16/2009 at 8:33pm by afj67

If this is true, then your husband is an immature jerk and you should pay more attention to your daughter. Teaching a young kid something like that isn't funny, and that's something you learn when you're around two or three. If she's five and you just now found that out, then that's really saying something about the time you spend with your kid.

#232 - On 07/17/2009 at 1:19am by Shaylex

this is freaking awesome. kudos to dad for being so awesome. dad = genious.
you, however, should have your child taken away for not noticing something like this. boo you.

#233 - On 07/17/2009 at 1:21am by shaquanda

also, everyone commenting on this needs to lighten up! it was a joke and obviously it's being fixed. the kid was young, she probably won't even remember it. at least he wasn't touching her in her no-no zone.

#234 - On 07/17/2009 at 1:23am by shaquanda

wow, cmon other people, please take a joke
they kid is not fucked for the rest of his life, just teach em the correct colors now....and even IF they thought green was purple for the rest of their life, big fucking deal, its colors.
and if the kid is like 2-4 years old, he/she wont even remember the incident
getting laughed at by a group of people? so what? welcome to life and get over it.

#237 - On 07/17/2009 at 1:32am by Luky

lol #237......learning will be harder, trust me. But other observational skills will probably be heightened in the case of perma-color-blindness.

o, and my english teacher's husband did the same thing to his kids in order to test out the theory of personal reality

#238 - On 07/17/2009 at 1:39am by td0663r

LOL! I actually do find this funny as well. Your husband has a strange and good sense of humor! I want to do that to my cousin once-removed, now! She's about of age to be learning things like this... yes, yes... goooooood.

#239 - On 07/17/2009 at 1:54am by Amkii

Your husband is a fucking asshole, and I seriously hope the morons on here saying they're gonna do it to their kids never have any. Ever.

#240 - On 07/17/2009 at 1:55am by deathproof

this is hilarious! calm the crap down!!

#290 - On 07/17/2009 at 3:29pm by shaquanda

Holy crap LOL your husband is freaking awesome, PLEASE high-five him for me ROFL, made my day :)

#242 - On 07/17/2009 at 2:03am by coolrd23

I'm going to be honest; I have always thought it would be epic to do this, but wouldn't have the balls to do such a horrible thing... It's not really f your life, more like the child's

#243 - On 07/17/2009 at 2:05am by andrewms

Assholes like that give me no hope for the human race.

#244 - On 07/17/2009 at 2:12am by Person1233

Your husband doesn't sound fit to be doing any elementary teaching jobs. I'd do those myself from now on if I were you. Numbers, shapes, etc. Before she gets too screwed, haha. I'm sorry, though. I feel for your kid and would have punched your husband. Though, it's only slightly your own fault as well. :)

#245 - On 07/17/2009 at 2:20am by shoshizzle

5 years? Fake. Funny, but fake. You guys can't spot a real fake, but i can't tell how many times i have seen obviously real, sad situations called fake on this website.

#246 - On 07/17/2009 at 2:22am by Misosoup

Does It Matter?

#250 - On 07/17/2009 at 3:46am by mish01

i agree more thanlikley fake but funny all the same and i cant tell you how many times ive though of doing that to my kids but i also understand that it would screw them over for life and some one along the way would proly beable to bring child abuse up against me for it but eather way i want my kids to do better than me not worse cause i though it would be funny to jteach my kids the colors wrong however my sisters and brothers kids ill even teach the alphabet wrong to and the order of the numbers lol i am evil

#252 - On 07/17/2009 at 3:50am by drdj2006

Wow if I were you, I would make sure you're the one to give her the "Birds and the Bees" speech. Otherwise, who knows what would happen...lol.

#247 - On 07/17/2009 at 2:34am by TheEntertainer89

You daugter might not be able to identify colors, but she might be able to spell D-I-V-O-R-C-E?

#257 - On 07/17/2009 at 4:53am by ScreamingLibra

Pffft mental trauma? Hopefully this will help the girl toughen up. People need to be a lot less sensitive to this sort of thing.

#258 - On 07/17/2009 at 4:53am by emkaytwo

your husband is a douche but THIS IS FUCKING FUNNY hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

#259 - On 07/17/2009 at 5:12am by youaresofucked

#260 - On 07/17/2009 at 5:47am by Yea_Wateva

hahah i totally did the same thing to my little brother, but he was a bit younger.
then when he was doing colours with mum she kept thinking something was wrong.
i eventually told her what i had done because i thought it would be funny.
she didn't think the same and i was in trouble.

#262 - On 07/17/2009 at 8:28am by sallyd

So during five years of motherhood you never once sat with your daughter to teach her colours yourself?

And you didn't send your child to any kind of preschool where she would have learned these things?

Either absolutely shit parenting, or utterly fake. Neither possibility is entertaining.

#263 - On 07/17/2009 at 8:40am by musu

Haha, wow! Isn't your husband's name by any chance Peter Griffin? ;)

#265 - On 07/17/2009 at 9:15am by DrMorbid

#270 - On 07/17/2009 at 10:23am by warhorse57

thats not funny at all. ur husband is an azzhole. i think i would divorce someone for playing such a stupid trick on my child

#271 - On 07/17/2009 at 10:29am by EffYoLife

Are you getting her drunk and forcing her to play in the street next? Great job being a worthless parent!

#276 - On 07/17/2009 at 11:14am by RodeHard

I guarantee this so-called 'father' has done plenty of other cruel things to this child because he thinks it's funny.

How men like this end up getting women is beyond me.

More staggering is that women choose to conceive children with them.

#278 - On 07/17/2009 at 11:44am by NonchalantSavant

ahahahaha. I actually thought it would be funny to do this with my kids. Mean, yes. HILARIOUS, definitely.

#279 - On 07/17/2009 at 11:51am by repteo90

how did you not notice that she was saying her colors wrong this whole time?

#284 - On 07/17/2009 at 1:10pm by lala_85

I hate to say it but it was hilarious. Horrible too.

#285 - On 07/17/2009 at 1:42pm by 2Chances2Fail

haha I love your hubby! I'm sorry your daughter was crying, though. :/

#299 - On 07/17/2009 at 7:43pm by xXmoses_rocksXx

He's an ass hole.

#300 - On 07/17/2009 at 7:56pm by EvanTheExile

lmfao that is awesomeeee :D

#301 - On 07/17/2009 at 9:42pm by goldfishlove1222

Eh this is relatively harmless. It's not hilarious, but it's nothing to be too concerned over. I'm colorblind, but that was only after a series of head injuries. I re-learned my colors. Your daughter can too.

#302 - On 07/17/2009 at 10:15pm by smashedpineapple

there are no words to describe how funny that is

#303 - On 07/17/2009 at 10:17pm by deaththekid

HAHAAHAHAH The kid can relearn the colors. I don't see how this is abuse, it's fucking hilarious. She won't even remember it in a week. She'll look back and laugh.

#304 - On 07/17/2009 at 11:41pm by theodivine

Haha, that's funny, in a sadddd waay. Ugh, I bet he also taught your daughter a random made up language, as well.

#306 - On 07/18/2009 at 12:32am by boogersyum

that's hilarious. And a little sad. The concept is still hilarious though.

#307 - On 07/18/2009 at 3:30am by Jetlock

You're husband sounds like a real asshole. I'm sure he's a funny guy, but that's something you just don't do to a kid. You should probably find out what else he "taught" her.

#309 - On 07/18/2009 at 2:31pm by twindaddy

Your husband is an ass. Find out what else he mis-taught her for his own amusement before she has to learn herself the hard way.

#310 - On 07/18/2009 at 3:20pm by laffinatu

your husband has a f***** up sense of humor. that poor child!!!

#311 - On 07/18/2009 at 5:03pm by summer66

Damn. I feel bad for your kid. Kick your husband's ass. JK. :>

#313 - On 07/18/2009 at 10:39pm by legendarygirl

FYL for having to be married to that creep.
YDI for marrying him of your own accord, unless this was one of those mail-order bride things.

#315 - On 07/19/2009 at 1:10am by miquonranger03

poor girl, like how i can't differentiate between hot pink and red ._.

#316 - On 07/19/2009 at 8:35am by Nextdusk

stupid-ass dad.

#320 - On 07/21/2009 at 7:53am by blarney

You need to go through not only colors now, but numbers and everything that your husband would have taught your daughter to make sure he hasn't done that with other things, and you need to make sure that you are the one teaching her everything important in life from now on. Personally, I would question whether your husband is a psychopath because I can't think of one good reason that a father would intentionally do that to his young daughter. (Now your daughter may never trust her father again, and he thinks that's funny?) He knew that it would cause her trouble in school, in the future, and with anyone who realized that she had the colors wrong. Not to mention that at school, they could label her with a developmental disability because they would erroneously think she couldn't see, and/or learn things properly. As for the camp, the campers can't be taught anything, but you absolutely need to talk with the head of the camping program to inform them that their counselors are making fun of children who are different. What if you daughter were only color blind? They had no way of knowing. This is all around disgusting and I really hope you stand up for your daughter and keep your husband away from her, at least where teaching her things is concerned.

#321 - On 07/21/2009 at 5:35pm by Jaguaress

You take life waaaaay to seriously dear.... really... I can only imagine the neuroses you're imparting onto your own children. I think I'll pray for them...

#323 - On 07/22/2009 at 2:31am by je3bu5

Your husband is hilarious. :D At least it happened at camp, not at school. Would've been much worse.

Those camp counselors suck. I would complain.

#322 - On 07/21/2009 at 8:13pm by ishirticapslock

WOW hes an ass hole. this is shaping the mind of a young child, and she was open to learning and he probably messed up colors for her. thoes coundelors suck, arent they there to help little kids? not laugh in there faces.

#324 - On 07/22/2009 at 6:46am by ItsCheeri0o

Your husband is a horrible person. Why would he want to hurt his own child in such a way? I agree with #321.

As for the camp counselors- that was extremely wrong of them you need to call that camp and complain. As a former Unit Counselor myself I know that's against probably EVERY single thing counselors learn in staff training.

And as for yourself... you should be ashamed. Your daughter is FIVE years old, and YOU didn't know she didn't know her colors? That is something you should have been doing with her from day one. You obviously cannot rely on your husband to do it for you. And you are lucky that this didn't happen at school, as she would have ended up in special education, recieving help she didn't need because your husband thought it would be funny to mess with his poor child's life.

That's just wrong... on all 3 counts. Boo on YOUR HUSBAND, THE COUNSELORS, *and* on YOU!

#325 - On 07/22/2009 at 8:08pm by JustJazzee

Funny!

#326 - On 07/23/2009 at 3:16am by TheCaminiti

That is horrible! I would've been so pissed at my husband for doing something like that.

#327 - On 07/25/2009 at 8:03am by shyharmonybear

Is the husband the father?

#328 - On 07/25/2009 at 8:00pm by Nectarine

Your husband is an idiot!

Why did you fall pregnant and have a child when you were already married to a child?
Tell him that if he ever teaches your daughter any other nonsense, you'll stop changing his diaper for him, and you'll send him to bed with no supper.

Why do so many adults think acting like a 5 year-old is funny?

#331 - On 07/29/2009 at 11:55am by tipple

If I have children, I'll make sure that they are well-educated and rid of any miscomprehension. I have often thought of being cruel to my future children, but educating them wrong is ridiculous and absolutely out of line.

#332 - On 08/01/2009 at 3:12am by SeaGhile

You guys have no sense of humor, that was freaking brilliant!

Of course, you have to teach her correctly this time, but you gotta admit that was freaking funny xD

#342 - On 11/02/2009 at 7:35am by Linkzvm

WTF is wrong with you people praising this douche? The kid is never going to be able to trust her parents again. He's a genius? I would love to see you stoners' reaction to someone pulling this on you retards. The only difference is that you morons deserve it.

#343 - On 11/03/2009 at 11:37pm by mock09

huhu....i knew he sucks....but blue is considered blue because the society calls it blue....some other society have different names for it...and if you teach a lot of people enough to change their mind that the colour blue is called green.....then blue could totally ends up being called green...:)
