Today, I tried to explain my 8-year-old son that my fiancée was going to be his stepmother. Little did I know, he watched Coraline last week. Now he thinks she's his "other mother" and won't go anywhere near her. FML

You should wake him up one morning with big button eyes.

Aww, poor kid. Maybe cheer him up by taking him to see a happy Disney movie ...like Cinderella!

Tell him to be prepared, and that as long as he is in bed before midnight, off to work she’ll go. All he needs to do is let it go.

If you want him to cheer up, take him to see Bambi. That’s what happens to moms!

Maybe explain that “other mother” and stepmother are not the same thing. To be clear, your fiancé is not a shape-shifting spider monster with rat spies intent on stealing your child’s soul and even if she is, your kid is fine as long as they don’t trade away their eyes.
