Okay, while I know that they can spring shit on you, you need to have a contract within the first six weeks, so either that's BS or extreme FYL
This is actually so common that it's included in Forbes list of warning signs for people trying to get jobs.
Was one of your numerous failings being boring?
You do not have to have a written contract in the UK for a contract to be in place and there are terms of work which come into force once you have worked in a place for a month and your employer must give you a written statement of these terms at that time or be in breach of the law. Tribunals recently had to remove the exorbitant fees they charged and now it does not cost anything to take a rogue employer to one. You may want to look up the GOV site on the subject.
Take your payslips to a lawyer!!
Ok all the way from South Africa here don’t know if it helps but ,you don’t need a written contract to be actually employed or expect the pay you’re getting. If you can prove that you have been receiving a salary (eg through your bank statement/account) for over 3 months, you are deemed to be employed and can reasonably expect to receive that amount in the future... explicitly implied that you are employed and that is your salary. Just s suggestion.., don’t know if it will help
