Today, I had an emergency appendectomy, so I texted my boss to let him know about the situation. He replied that it'd be good for my continued employment prospects if I come into work tomorrow. FML

Today, my boss tested a candidate for my current position while I was out of the office. How did I find out? I work in HR and the test results were sent to my email. The reason I was out was to have emergency surgery. Now I get to recover and job search at the same time. FML

Today, I was feeling down about being stuck in bed after ankle surgery. I thought I would go ahead and call my boss and let him know everything went well. He said the obligatory nice things, then told me that if I'm not at work on Monday, I'll be fired. I can't even get out of bed. FML

Today, I was told I have kidney stones, kidney infections, and a bladder infection and that I have to get admitted into the hospital. I let my boss know, and she replied, "But you're still coming in for your shift tonight, right?" FML

Today, I got up and left for work despite being really sick, because I had a big meeting. Halfway to work, in deadlocked traffic, my boss texts me to let me know he's rescheduling the meeting to tomorrow because of personal conflicts. FML

Today, I called into work because of a family emergency. My boss was understanding; my coworker? He tore me a new one because his wife wanted him to take the day off, which he didn't because it was going to be a tough day at work. He also threatened to find a way he could get me fired. FML

Today, my bitch of a boss sent out a group text saying she'd had a chainsaw accident and lost the tips of 4 of her fingers and would be out indefinitely. Today, my boss put me on suspension, a week after granting a subordinate time off to recover from surgery. When I signed the paperwork, I was too embarrassed to admit I didn't understand her writing, which apparently said she was getting treated for "dangerously low levels of dick". FML

That's not a good idea... It would tell his bosses boss, if he has one, that he is the one who makes everything run smoothly and therefore he would be the one to receive future raises, position advancements, ETC. It would be better if this employee had a more efficient day without his bosses direction.

Take a screen shot of that. Make sure the dates and times of all texts are available. Also make sure his phone number is part of what's there. He can't say someone else texted you that then, OP. Keep all of that if he fires you so you can take it to HR. What your boss said and plans on doing sounds highly illegal.

Also make sure you keep all your paperwork from the hospital and let them know the situation. Your attending physician will write you a note saying you shouldn't be at work for "X" amount of time to recover. I was nearly fired earlier this year for a similar situation, but I worked with HR and kept my job.
