That sounds like when an entry level jobs requires 10 years of experience.

The standards are odd. I had a gf w/ her daughter that I was turned down for food stamps. I was averaging for a couple weeks 35 hours, but pay was so low it ended up being 200 a week on average. Maybe 250. NOt much for 3 people and bills. Keep trying hopefully you'll find something. State laws can be messed up for assistance depending on where you are.

Ya isn't that some bullshit I've been turned down for the same reason, even tho the house payment with insurance and utilities was 40% less then my rent and renters insurance and the people I do know that are in HUD houses are not low income and can afford normal bank loan payments 😒

Low is a relative term. Being a bull for a couple in earning in the “triple digits” classifies you as lower than “low.”

I understand why that seems crazy, but you do still have to be able to pay that lower rent.

Um I thought that the lowest your rent could go (at least where I live) was $100?

Seems like you need a better job. Other than pan handling

Maybe you should get a real job.

The window for low income housing is stupidly small. They have to cap the rent at a certain rate and unfortunately that rate is really close to the limit. You have to make almost enough to make too much for low income housing without going over. I had a full time job making more than minimum wage and I still didn't make enough money to afford the place. In my opinion Low income should mean that making minimum wage at full time you can afford the place. Even more frustrating even if you rent the same one bedroom place if you do so with a significant other they charge you more.
