Today, as I was perusing old photos with my mother, I found one of her with a "childhood friend" at her wedding to my dad. Now I know where my green eyes and blotchy neck birthmark came from, and it's not from the man I’ve been calling "dad" for 40 years. FML

Today, my 11-year-old son and I were going through some old photos. He saw one of me when I was 22 on a beach, wearing a bikini. He said "Wow! Who's that?" Quite proudly I said it was me. He looked at me and said "What happened?" FML

Today, I found out that the man I called grandpa for 40 years is really my dad. My drunk aunt spilled the beans. Her exact words were, "My dad is a better dad to you than he EVER was to me! You never wondered why he treated you better than his other grandchildren? You're his son!" FML

Today, I ran into a friend that I hadn't seen in about 5 years. She had her 4-year-old son with her. I couldn’t help but notice her son looked almost identical to mine. He even had a very distinct facial feature that my husband has as well. What are the odds all three of them have the same defect? FML

Today, after always laughing when my mom told me to avoid dating any guy with green eyes and thinking it was some weird prejudice, she told me the truth. My father cheated and had at least six other kids. They all have green eyes and look alike. FML

Today, I brought a boy home for the first time, only to have my dad ask him what his mother's maiden name was. When he answered, my dad exclaimed, "Oh yeah! I think I dated her in high school. I could be your father!" FML

Today, my mom dropped me off at a friend's house. Upon leaving, my friend's mom said how much I looked like my mother. My mother then replied, "That's funny, she was adopted." This was the first I'd heard of this. FML

Maybe there wasn't even an affair. Maybe OP's dad couldn't have kids of his own so he and his wife asked the wife's friend to be a sperm donor.

Sosorry OP. My older sister is going through this exact thing right now. she turned 41 last year and decided to do the Ancestry DNA test. learning that "our father" is actually just MY father. Our mom has been confronted with the dna testing results for 5 family members and she still refuses to admit what she did.(Good news is we did find my sisters biological father)

I know i wasn't really descriptive in my first post. the 5 family members were Me, My sister, niece(sister's daughter), and 2 cousins from Father's side of family. So yes technically we do all have different fathers. my sister, her daughter, and me share my mothers family but my sister and her daughter had no DNA in common with any member of my fathers side of the family..
