Today, I told my grandmother I was planning a trip to take my newborn son to meet his great-great-grandfather before it was too late. She had a guilty expression on her face. My great-grandfather died 4 months ago and my family forgot to tell me. FML

Today, I found out that my grandmother desecrated my grandfather's grave. 14 years after his death, she dug up his body and had him cremated so that she could sell his plot back to the cemetery for money. I was the one who found out so I had to tell the rest of the family. FML

Today, my grandparents told me they couldn't make it to my college graduation, even with months in advance to plan, because they had their annual Mother's Day plans with friends. Plans they've had every year, and are further away. This was the only time I'll ever have a graduation ceremony. My grandpa is my last biological grandparent. FML

Today, my grandmother died. No one called me to let me know she passed. I found out because people kept writing RIP on her Facebook wall. My siblings and I weren't even mentioned in her obituary with the other grandchildren, but they did remember to mention her dog. FML

Whaaat!!! That’s amazing!!! I mean you had your GREAT-GREAT-GRANDFATHER for a while!! Many people don’t even get the pleasure/pride/privilege to know their great-grandparents or even their grandparents!! Anyhow. Very sorry for your loss.

It was OP's great-grandfather and her child's great-great grandfather. I'm lucky that I had one of my great-grandparents (my maternal grandmother's mom) until I was 18.

i mean... you were pregnant at the time of his death. your family probably didn't want to upset you or stress you out... i'm not saying this behavior is ok, but it's pretty common in such situations.
