Today, I told the doctor that one of my ribs sticks out farther than the other. When I lifted my shirt to show him, he immediately laughed and said, "Whoa, that's not subtle is it!" As if I wasn't already insecure about it. FML

At least he didn't say it looked like a puzzle piece

Don't take him seriously. He was just ribbing you.

If it makes you feel any better/not alone, I have a rib that goes inwards and causes a huge dent on one side

Huh I first thought that he meant that wasn't a subtle move.

Try to not let it get you down, OP. Everyone's body is different, you just gotta own it! Hope you feel better about it soon :)

Yea, you should dump him OP! You deserve better, I'm sure you look fantastic!

I've been told I have weird ribs too. Oh well, OP. Everyone has different bodies for a reason. :)

try going to a chiropractor instead. your rib is probably just thrown out of place and can be put back

You're joking right? You realize you go the a chiropractor for your back/joints of your body, right?

almost all of your ribs connect to your spine and a VERY misaligned spine can affect rib placement as well but most likely OP has ribs like me that just stick out too far in an odd way :\

He's just trying to make you feel at ease. Try not to take things so seriously.

It's actually more common than you think to have a rib flare on one side. Don't worry about it, embrace it.

Is that what it's called? I always called it my sticky-out rib. Now I'm going to look it up. Thank you.

There's no reason to be self-conscious about it. If anything, it makes you unique. One of my ribs stick out... I have slight thoracic levoscoliosis. One of my shoulders is about 1" higher than the other, and I have pain in my left sacroiliac from misalignment (/hypermobility). So, hopefully you don't have any negative side effects from it.
