We love Saturdays! Not only because it's illustration time, but because it's also party time! What's more pleasant than a well organized party? You know the kind, filled with friends, junk food, booze, potential dates, and a nice hangover the next morning. But what happens when the party isn't going as planned? That's what we'll try to figure out, with help from today's artist, Nicholas Luke Dowman also known as Nik!
Nik is our first artist from New-Zealand! This young artist, because we think that 20 years old is pretty young, lives in Wellington, where he works in a theatre and a call center for a ticketing company. A pace of life that suits Nik who can use his free time to draw! And drawing is important for him, since April 2008, he's the proud author of the web comic "Transitionation", a web comic based on his life, but also on his friends' lives and funny stories he’s heard, seen or imagined. He sends out five posts a month, and has been doing so for a year now, and as one year is already a lot, this project might end in 2009.
New Year, new web comic! Nik wants to start a new web comic about super heroes! But he insists, it will be his own website. It seems that having a blog makes people hesitate to check the site! Nik doesn't stop there, he's a man full of surprises, and besides drawing he also likes writing novels and making short movies! His dream is to make a living from his films, but for now he has several ideas of scenarii bouncing around his head that he plans to launch in the year.
On the family side, he is engaged to his girlfriend that he met two years ago, and they're expecting a child in January! The kid will be lucky to have a father as creative as Nik !
So, we had a great interview with this guy who seems to have a very cool and peaceful life, but we can't help ourselves, we are curious, why did he choose this particular FML about friendless people?
"To be honest, this has happened to me, in reverse. I sent out an open invitation, three people turned up. Best. Party. Ever."
To be honest, we all know what you've been through. You know what? Sometimes you just plan the perfect party, with awesome food and fantastic cocktails, and people don't show up. Screw them. We're going to spend Saturday night alone, with a TV dinner and it's going to be just perfect. We love Saturdays ...
Thank you Nik for your contribution!
