What a bea****ul day don't you think? The sun is rising, birds are sing**g, you have plans for today, you're going to hang out with your fr*ends. But don't forget to check today's illust**tion okay? Don't tell your mum and dad about it (and maybe keep your little brothers or si*ters away because once they see it, they might repeat the words in it to your parents). We don't want to tell you too much but... there's the "F" word in it. FML is getting so n*ughty.
And now, to celebrate the day when we decided to pu***ish one hell of an artist, full of tattoos and anger, let's r**d her interview!
-What's your name and surname?
-How old are you?
-Where do you live?
-Rochester, NY USA
-What do you do for a living?
-Draw stuff and make comics (pretty sweet, right?)
-What's your story? (school, job..)
-Went to an arts high school. Got a Bachelors in Visual Arts from SUNY New Paltz and a Masters in Computer Graphics Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Now I draw talking farts for a living. So money well spent.
-What are your projects?
-The webcomic Kawaii Not (www.kawaiinot.com), and various freelance illustration jobs (www.murphypop.com).
-Tell us more about your website?
-I started Kawaii Not just to see if I could create and continue a webcomic, kinda like a personal bet. I think I won. But I can't tell myself that, 'cause I'm a sore loser.
-What inspires you (artists, movies, etc..)?
-I don't think I could narrow it down if I tried. There is so much shiny stuff out there.
-What makes you laugh the most?
-When I outsmart myself.
-Why did you choose this FML?
-How could a rainbow be offensive?! How? It was a challenge I couldn't turn down.
-Do you have your own FML anecdote that you can share us?
-A few years ago I accidentally chopped off the tip of my left hand middle finger with my bedroom door. I had to put it in a plastic bag with a cherry popsicle because I was all out of ice. Which slowly melted as I waited for two hours in the emergency room. Luckily there was enough nail left on that finger so it doesn't look too weird now - it's just a little shorter than it should be. And I got a fun cocktail party story out of it - which might explain why I am not invited to too many cocktail parties.
Thank you so much Meghan for your great illustration !
Meghan's website full of "Kawaiiii":
If you want to be the next published artist, send an email to email@example.com including a link to your website/blog/DA. But DON'T send your illustration right away! You need first to get in touch with Alice who will tell you what you have to do!
