FML's Question Time #2: School
We tried this before and it went pretty well, so here's another blog section for everyone to have give their opinion on a popular but controversial subject. OK, we're not debating a really controversial subject like the death penalty or how Ariana Grande managed to become so popular despite sounding like a boring font, but still, we want to hear (or read) what you have to say about this month's topic, since it's something that concerns quite a few of you. Take it away Pink Floyd.
To sum up the idea behind this column: we'll be asking you a question every month or so, and all you'll have to do is give your opinion, back it up with facts, anecdotes or something you overheard down the local pub. What we are looking for are debates, exchanges and stories that'll set off more comments than a viral video of a guy tripping over a cat on a skateboard. There are no limits, feel free to express yourselves.
This month's QOTM:
Are exams elitist and stressful exercises?
Is school simply conditioning us to
conform like robots to work in society?
To get the ball rolling, we've asked a few people to speak their brains.
"I hate exams. I was shit at all of them. I couldn't even pass my driving test, I crashed a Ford Fiesta into a wall and had a hissy fit." - Darth Vador
"Going to college and studying is really important, you have to learn from history because otherwise you are doomed to repeat it. A lot of young people these days are all over the place with regards to social values, they're ignorant about social struggles from the past and take everything for granted. You got any hummus?" - my neighbor, the sociology student
"I could be a school. I am a school. I should plug my brain into the matrix and then everyone could learn to be me. Stay in school, kids. Don't do drugs; do Kanye." - Kanye West
You get the general idea. Tell us your worst exam stories. What you think of higher education. You've been to school, so how was it for you? What do you get out of it? If you're at school or college right now, what's it like? If you've got a massive amount of diplomas, is it easier to get a job? Or did you quit school at a young age and now run a successful business? Tell us everything, we want to hear about your life. This is FML after all.
Come on, procrastinate. It's Friday, work can wait.
