You can practically hear that horse's internal diologue as it gets up like "It's cool, no one saw that. I'm good. Nailed it."
But in all seriousness, there’s nothing funny about animal abuse, and we're just happy that the horse (and no one else in the club that night) were seriously hurt. Apparently, about 3,000 other people agree -- or at least, that's how many people signed a petition for action to be taken against the club. A big FML for the club owners it seems, because it actually worked. the petition, along with the video going viral brought some not-needed attention to the club.
On March 9th, Miami Beach City Manager Jimmy L. Morales took action and revoked the club’s business licence.
“I was disgusted and offended that any legitimate businessperson would think this was an appropriate action to take,” said Morales In a Miami Beach press release. “This activity was not permitted, and as soon as we became aware, I immediately instructed staff to act swiftly in remedying this situation.”
Even Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber spoke up about the incident in a press conference, claiming his support that the club shut down:
"it wasn’t just stupid — it was really inhumane, and it’s not who our city is," said Gelber.
Well, this city of Miami is not a person, but it's a touching quote regardless of the bad syntax.
