(VIDEO) Baggage Handler Filmed Tossing Luggage Confirms Everyone's Suspicions About How Your Luggage Is Handled At Airports

By / lundi 28 mai 2018 10:00
Handle with care, shmandle with shmare. Airport staff don't give a damn about your luggage.

Vanessa Marsh, a traveler at Honolulu Airport who was in line for her flight to Phoenix bore witness to what many frequent travelers have often suspected: baggage mishandling. Luckily for everyone, she was able to take a quick video to prove it.

As you can see in the video, the bags are tossed so forcefully that they even bounce a bit off of the chute. According to The Daily Mail, the video was viewed more than 300,000 times. The incident got so much attention that it even prompted Hawaiian Airlines to respond.

So far, there has been no confirmation that the woman who can be seen handling the baggage carelessly in the video has been fired. Regardless, frequent travelers have always known that this is what was going on with their luggage behind the scenes, and we can only hope that Vanessa's  video will make somewhat of an impact.

Sure the baggage handler is lazy, but the airline is at fault as well, because the handler is forced to hoist the baggage over a railing before depositing it in the chute. This is a poor setup.

I worked the night shift at UPS back when they manually sorted packages instead of the machines they do now. Two of the belts we sorted to were on the ground. My first night on the job I was told “fragile means kick it harder”.
