Today, while serving a customer, she told me: "God made you a working class citizen so you could serve! If God wanted you to go to college, he would have made sure you were able to go!" FML

Hyenayena tells us more.

I tried explaining that, but she said that "if you were meant to go to college, your life would lead to it naturally. Your life has led you to be part of the working class, see?" So pretty much: if I'm not a rich person, I better not even think about going to college.

I'm guessing God made her an annoying bitch too?

I hate people like that. Or the ones who try to justify everything with the bible.

No; just a lot of Christians go about it the wrong way.

I didn't realize the caste system was still alive and well, sadly

"And then God made a crazy bitch, and he saw that it was good."

"God made me a working class citizen so I could spit in your food, if God wanted you to have a saliva-free meal, he would have made you a nice person"

reminds me of the lady that told me I was going to hell for working on Sundays. really wish I could have looked at her and told her that I wouldn't have to work on Sundays if she wouldn't show up to get her work done on a car

See, if people are going to live by the bible, they better not cherry pick. That's fine by me. They can go back to living life as it was at the time the bible was written

Yeah because assaulting someone and getting a criminal record solves everything

No, slap her. If she's really serious about this, she'll turn the other cheek and let you do it again.

or the better option: "ma'am, your comments are discriminatory and insulting. if you continue talking to me this way I will refuse you service and if need be call the police to have you removed". either she apologizes or you refuse service, if she doesn't leave you actually call the cops in front of them. I've done this myself and had customers like this issued criminal trespass notices that make them unable to re-enter the store for 24 hours or they get arrested

That literally makes no sense. Don't most college students have jobs on the side like that to earn money?

I want to know if she left a tip?

Damn @47 - I come from a very affluent background and a lot of my friends are from very wealthy families. They still work as bartenders, hosts/waiters, in retail, etc. Maybe it's because I'm from the Midwest? Idk. I have wealthier friends from LA and NYC who would never consider working. I've always just thought it was normal to work part time no matter what your background is. Either for your family or wherever you can get a job. I've experienced this a couple times though. Really sucks. some people are just ignorant. I like working even though I don't have to because it allows me to have my own money to do as I want without my parents scrutinizing everything.

When she said lead to it naturally she probably didn't mean you had to be rich. She probably meant that because you didn't get a full ride, academic scholarships, or sports scholarships you weren't meant to go to college. I don't necessarily think this is true but she probably wasn't saying If you aren't born rich you can't go to college

We're not all like that. This woman makes me sick

Remember Bill Gates had very less formal education even after Microsoft but went ahead and completed his studies later.

Bill gates founded Microsoft at Harvard, where he got a scholarship. He also came from a very upper middle class family.

Meh. Some people just have there beliefs, best to move on and just prove her wrong.

It's people like this that give us NORMAL Christians a bad name. Sorry for the ignorance you had to suffer through, OP.

Yeah pretty much. She acted all self righteous and proud

I totally agree, though I personally need to work, I feel as though everyone should at least work a "menial" job at some point in there lives to keep oneself humble.

I personally would have told her to mind her own business, but somewhat politely of course

That's pretty rude. I'm Christian but I would never say something like that! A lot of Christians that I know are very humble and sweet; it's just people like this lady that make us all look bad

I was a waitress while in college...did you tell her that you weren't going to school as well or did she just assume?

I told her I was going to school, but she said I shouldn't because "it's not what God planned for me"

Hah! And how is she supposed to know what God's plans are for anyone? Does she have some sort of special favoritism with Him? Does she have intimate knowledge with The Almighty's intricate and all-spanning Plan that she can see into the freakin' future?? But look at me here, preaching to the choir. The woman's a loony.

OP, that's horrible! I bet you were the bigger person and didn't retaliate

Psh, and I WORKED to go to college. It's none of her business what your goals are OP!

I hate that. like maybe you're in college. and nowadays a bachelors degree won't cut it you need your masters because of women her age/most baby boomers ruining the economy. they're all ageing and not retiring so no one else can work

It's not irrelevant because maybe op did go to college and has a degree.
