I know that it's a dog eat dog world, but your mom still seems like a total bitch.

That must be an awkward car ride.. Not to be too graphic, but wouldn't running over a dog do any damage to the car? Unless of course it was really small.. But still. Sorry about you mom OP:(

OP - Sorry about the unpleasant experience. Sometimes the important people in our lives are not perfect. That doesn't make them less of a mother or whatever. And sometimes adults have to make quick and unpleasant choices. Life is not always what we wish it were. It was a dog, not a person. I trust that if it had been a person your mom would have stopped. It's over, deal with it and give your mom a break.

However, if you wish to be considered an adult, you have to take responsibility for your actions. That means if you hit someone's pet, you stop the car to see if there's a vet needed and try to locate the owners if possible. Just continuing driving and pretending nothing's happened is not only irresponsible, it's immature.

That really depends on the situation, and where you're from. I wouldn't call it immature, more irresponsible.

There is any number of reasons why she may not have stopped, such as creating a hazard for other drivers, may have an unsafe area, the dog may have run off etc. To judge the mothers actions solely upon the information presented is not only irresponsible, it's immature.

Sorry, #10 but I'm gonna have to go with #11 on this one. That dog could have belonged to a family and leaving them to wonder what happened to their pet would make worry and lose hours of sleep wondering what happened to their pet. Forcing yourself to get over the tragedy isn't going to work because you yourself will wonder if there was something you would have done about it. Other than that, your mom is very careless for running over the animal without stopping to see if the animal was a pet and beloged to a family. She has also failed to take responsibility for her own actions by driving down the road and talking over people who have attempted to bring up the incident. But that depends on the situation, however.
