Today, there's lethal flooding in the Reno area, with all roads to my work closed and flooded. My boss still expects me to drive through it, in the dark, to work at 6am. FML

How does he expect you to do that? Flag down a passing Coast Guard boat?

But I bet HE would be staying home then because it's too dangerous for HIM to drive through it.

Well, your boss is a dick. Don't listen to him. If he fires you for not coming in, you can probably sue him for this.

If my boss still expects me to drive through that, he can come pick me up.

I was there during the flood, your boss is a douche, literally everyone I knew had a few days off

Stop whining I live in Reno to and I have to commute across town. The flooding was bad but lethal is just being dramatic.

Yeah, we got flooded out too, and my neighbors' bridge was washed downstream. I hope that you're okay. Hello from the Mount Rose hwy.

Lethal? I live in Reno, no one died in the fairly minor flooding, and while some roads were closed most of the major roads were fine. :/ YDI drama queen

Reminds me of an old manager of mine. We had a hurricane hit us pretty bad - many main roads were flooded, power lines were down (30k+ without power in our town alone) and some parts of our area (including roads) had been completely washed away. It was the morning after the worst of the storm had hit but the storm was still very much present and I had a 6am shift at a department store 45 mins away..Town was in a state of emergency and they were urging anyone who did not absolutely need t

Word to people accusing OP of being dramatic1 flooding depth can vary a huge amount between two close locations. My house is on one of the highest points of land in town, but if you go 50-75 yards west or north, there are major intersections that are under 3 feet of water vs the 3 inches in my yard. People in that region of town literally get trapped for days.

Hell, one of the residents in that sector keeps a paddle boat in his house so he can check on his neighbors if it takes more than a day for things to dry up.

I live in Fernley not too far from Reno. The fact that your boss did that and most of downtown reno was blocked to all traffic is a stupid move on his part. Where i work in off double r had some areas where their was a puddle thats about it. Hopefully you didnt end up going in. Your safety is important.
