Today, on my day off, despite working a night shift the night before I was up early to clean and cook all day to spoil my boyfriend. At 10 p.m. when I finally settled down into the bathtub, my phone rang. It was work, asking where I was for my shift. I didn't have the day off. FML

MadelynGraceS tells us more.

This was my post! To clarify, I worked a night shift and woke up early in the morning. I guess someone told my work ( I work at a hospital) that I was covering their shift so I was supposed to come back in that night but never heard about it. People change schedules without notifying everyone a lot lol. And that would suck! if my boyfriend called to break up with me I'd just get out of the tub and go beat him up since we live together :p

At least it wasn't your boyfriend breaking up with you on the phone.

Hope you didn't get into to much trouble OP !

I've been there before, and it sucks. I'm sorry OP, but maybe you can start making copies of your work schedule. That's what I do anyway. I even have to highlight my own name on it so there is no way I can get confused =(

That sucks op! My work schedule is revised all the time so it happens.

Interesting that they waited until after your shift was over to call you. When my employees don't show up, I call them right away on the offchance something like this happened. I'd rather have a late employee than be one person short all day.

She works the night shift, it probably was the beginning of her shift when they called.

That's not what the FML sounds like. And even if that's true, then get out of the bathtub and go to work? Duh.

Careful reading of the fml reveals that the op had just worked the night shift so it stands to reason that they were supposed to work the night shift again - it's not usual for people to work a night shift then a day shift back to back (although not unheard of) - and so 10oclockish is a perfectly reasonable time for work to ring op to enquire where they were. Don't sweat it op - it's an easy enough mistake to make. I'm sure work won't hold it against you if you don't make a habit of it.

you sound like a good boss. keep on keeping on

I always double check my schedule i will respectively say this is your fault but i do feel very bad this happened to you

This has happened to me before! A couple times actually. I'm sorry that happened to you and I hope your bosses aren't too mad at you. I'm confused as to why they didn't call you sooner.

I double check my schedule all the time too, but have still had this sort of thing happen (it was changed sometime after my last check). It sucks but hopefully your boss is understanding and will let you take the night off, after all you're exhausted and therefore medically unfit for work.

Hopefully they will understand the mistake and you will not be punished for it. Everyone is human and we all make mistakes

Sorry OP. I hope you didn't have to go in to work and they understood

You'd think they would have called you in the first hour you didn't show up or something...

You deserved it for not keeping better track of your schedule

Sometimes schedules change without notice. That has happened to me before. they changed the schedule on my day off wanting me in earlier the next day and I didn't know of the change until they called an hour into my next shift to tell me I was late.
