Today, my wife of seven years told me that she doesn't trust me with dog-sitting her dog while she leaves to spend Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's with her family. She ended up calling someone she "trusts" to take care of her dog while I spend the holidays by myself. FML

Well, you could've gone with her, for at least the holiday bits of it (I'm assuming the US doesn't shut down for the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas so people still work). Or maybe try and see some of your family, or friends (or have them over). Just be glad you're not ultimately responsible for the dog.

wow! if she can't trust you with 'her' dog, how will she ever trust you with 'her' children, if and when you do have them.

Maybe she has her reasons. I trust my boyfriend with the cats, but I know that there are people who would look better after them. He is able to forget to feed them until he accidentally walks by and notices it.
