Today, my friend and I went to a really expensive restaurant. We got really bad service, so halfway through the meal we decided to dine-and-dash. Turns out I left my purse in the restaurant. With my I.D. and everything inside. FML

Why would you EVER think that was okay? "Oh, the service sucks, I'll just steal the food." YDI.

"Dine and dash" is not the appropriate response, ever. You can complain to the manager/owner, and you'll probably get the meal for free. They'll also know for future reference to improve the service. YDI for being a damn thief. This just makes it look like you are moochers.

Maybe you were looking for an excuse to not have to pay, and maybe even the servers sensed that you might pull something like that so didn't bother to give great service. Even if the service completely sucks, just give a 0% tip, or speak with the manager (they may try to make it up to you)

It is never okay to just walk out without paying your check, because that does not teach a lesson to your waiter or waitress. It just makes him or her think that you're cheap, inconsiderate, immature, and a thief. If you're not getting the quality of service you want, the correct response is to ask to speak to a manager so that he or she can rectify the situation. I hope the manager calls the police on you and your friend and that the police show up on your doorstep. It would serve you right. #14 - not leaving a tip doesn't rectify the situation, either. It just makes the waiter or waitress think you're either cheap or that you forgot. They don't think, "Gee, maybe I didn't get tipped because my service sucked". The appropriate response is to ALWAYS speak to a manager. If one is not available or nothing is done, send an e-mail, call, or speak to the owner/corporate/someone higher up.

As a server, I can confirm this.

Glad you stole a service and/or food. Look, if you don't like the service you can always complain to the manager about it being slow, didn't taste good, etc. They will do whatever is in their power to make you happy. However, just because you didn't like the service doesn't mean you skip out on the bill. Also, you said expensive restaurant, was the "bad" service due to it being slow and more of a relaxed, nonchalant atmosphere? I mean I've gone to some high end places and it took a while for bread to come out, waiter served wine very slowly and precisely, etc. If it was this type of service it may have been the point of the restaurant. You want quick, go to McDs. Oh and YDI

bad service = no tip. not steal the meal you moron.

1st off, haha sux! U shouldn't have stolen that food 2nd off, #5-a purse isn't a girls everything. I'm an 18 yr old girl and I've never owned a purse in my life-I hate em, so don't assume!
