Today, my dad posted on Facebook, apologizing to anyone he'd texted the night before. He said he'd gotten wasted and didn't mean anything he said. So much for that first ever "I'm proud of you" then. FML

Today, for the first time in my life, my dad said he was proud of me. It meant a lot to me, and I started tearing up. Noticing my emotion, he looked at me pityingly, said "Aaaaand it's gone." and walked out of the room. FML

Sometimes men have trouble saying their more intimate thoughts out loud. He probably thinks it when he's sober, but can only find the words when he's had a few drinks and his inhibitions drop. = )

I know that when I am drunk I am completely honest, I will tell someone anything they want to know. I don't regret it in the morning either, maybe your dad just said some bad stuff to some people and was covering it up. I'm sure he meant he was proud of you!
