Today, my dad found the Father's Day present that I spent at least ten hours preparing and decorating. I'd expected him to be extremely happy about this lovely gift. His only reaction was to ask if he could exchange it for something else. FML

Today, my watch broke so I casually mentioned to my dad that I needed a new one. A little while later he hands me this really nice watch. He says, "Here, this one's been lying around for a while." It was the watch I gave him for Father's Day. FML

Today, I asked a coworker what she'd bought her dad for father's day. She said that she got him some flowers, and I laughed because I thought it was a rather feminine gift for a man. I later found out that the flowers were for his grave. FML

The best gift is to give what the person wants, not to give what you think they should want. I am sorry for the hurt feelings - but is it possible that your gift was not something you Dad would actually like? It can hurt to be given gifts that seem to show the giver knows nothing about the likes and dislikes of the person being gifted.
