Today, my co-workers threw me a surprise 30th birthday party. After lighting sparklers on the cake and singing happy birthday, we all enjoyed a few moments of sparkly, happy fun time. Then the building's fire alarm tripped and over 200 people had to be evacuated. FML

Happy birthday OP! I'm curious as to how that would set off the fire alarm, unless there were thirty candle sparklers instead of a single candle sparkler that reads the number thirty. Next time, maybe your coworkers should temporarily turn off the fire alarm after notifying the owner of the building of the plan.

Yes, because they will turn off a crucial safety feature that is placed for the safety of people just for a birthday party for just one person
