if her Co worker would have said you're so lucky you are lesbian you have such a better life then it would be related but her Co worker doesn't know her situation therefore she isn't in the wrong. Her choosing the word "chose " isnt bad either because she did choose. she didn't choose her sexuality but she chose to come out and live with it instead of staying in the closet or going straight to please her parents . Everyone wants people to be so accepting of these ways but you make it hard when you take things as simple as this comment to heart. Down vote all you want but look at the bigger picture. You're really angry at your parents in which you should be not your Co worker.

I didn't say it in a way to say that she should have stayed in the closet or appeased her parent by being straight. I applaud her for doing so. point was her Co worker did nothing wrong.

Nobody said her coworker was 'wrong', it's just that she was painfully ignorant and made some horribly insensitive comments. You can't defend her words, but she probably didn't intend it to be so hurtful.

Everybody Deserves respect regardless of their personal choices? "Oh that drunk driver that just killed a whole family deserves respect because he made a personal choice." How about her parents deserve respect after kicking her out because that was their personal choice.. Actions dictate what people deserve. If I hire someone to mow my yard and they don't show up so I hire somebody else, when that person is done mowing I don't pay both nor do I respect both because one didn't do what I personally felt that he should.. I respect and pay the one who made the personal choices that cause them to deserve pay... That is a large factor in the mindset of entitlement.. Which is absurd...

By personal choices, I was referring to their private life - who they choose to sleep with, whether or not they want kids, etc. Perhaps I should have used a different word than 'choice' but I was referring to more than sexuality.

#36 is right. No one gives a shit if you're gay. You are attracted to who ever you are attracted to. But you can't make people except it. Hate when people try to force someone to be ok with it.

#77- No one is forcing anyone to accept anything. LGBT+ people are just trying to get people to mind their own damn business. You know the only people doing the forcing? The ignorant straight people who are forcing LGBT+ people to stay closeted or forcing them to live their personal lives by someone else's regulations when it doesn't affect ANYONE but the couple. I just want to hold hands with my girlfriend in public and to go on dates. It's pretty fucking hard when assholes constantly decide to verbally harass and threaten you. Right- I'm "forcing" them to accept me just because I exist in a PUBLIC PLACE, but they're not trying to force me to jeopardize my happiness and force me to be terrified for my life because I'm once again reminded that violent, aggressive people in this world "just don't like" that I'm not straight. Fuck you.

#67- Obviously, your comprehension is so shitty that you couldn't pick up on the fact that they meant personal decisions in their personal life that don't have an affect on anyone but themselves.

Which hard choice are you referring to? Choosing to be a lesbian? Choosing for her parents to be intolerant? Choosing to get kicked out of her home? I choose to think you're a clueless twit. But that's just my choice.

although some people choose this life style the majority do not. If you haven't noticed the ones who "choose" it usually go back to being straight. her parents are idiots and shouldn't have had children if they weren't ready to accept her with all that she came with. Sad world we live in.

The people who choose it aren't even choosing their sexuality, though. They just choose to switch labels and then choose their sexual conduct, not their attraction.

I don't know any legitimately gay people who have or will ever "go back". such as myself. I've always been gay and always will be. my 52 year old uncle hasn't magically become straight with age.

Did you let your coworker know how ignorant they are? Noone can choose how they feel towards another person it just happens.. you are brave for coming out to your family and for loving who you were born to love. Happy you have a job now!
